Actually you can tell that Austin is hilly in some places but mostly a little flatter as you can tell by the clip. West of Austin is where we have some real nice large hills. Austin is the party town of America. If you cant find a place to party then you're not in Austin Texas
Rough winds?? Haven't heard that one before. I've noticed that some of the 737's are more noisy which gives the impression of a rough landing. Wind usually doesn't make for a hard landing though. I landed a Piper in 18 knot gusting 27 winds last weekend and it was smooth as glass. Austin is a little high in elevation and it's usually hot there so ground speed may be higher upon landing which may make for a hard landing. This one looked okay though IMO.
Southwest does not own any 600, all they have are 300s 500s and 700s. 300s and 500s types are "almost" the same, 700 are bigger. Quick way to know if it is a 700 or 300 500 type. All of SWA 700s have winglets, some 300s have also winglets. Now, those three things under the flaps that look like fuel tanks (they are not), if it is red it is a 700, if not it is a 300 500 series. Also, their tail number says a lot, if the first # is a 7-4-9 it is a 700, any other is a 300 500. This is a B737 300-500
wow. u guys should come to Canada. Air Canada's and Westjet's pilots are some of the best in the world. You will get the best landing of your life every time!
let me tell u that this aint bad, i was flying in from hanoi to vietnam in a 777 and the plane had a bumpy approach all the way to the flaring part of the beginning of the runway, the pilot cut the autothrottle off and the plane slowly descended with quite a number of bumps and all of a sudden it fell that the pilot was desperate to land and just cut the power off and the plane just fell and smack the ground
Yeah, I have to agree with GreatLakesDrifta...my roughest landing was also flying intoChicago Midway and on a southwest flight. I remember the flight attendant got on the PA afterwards and said "Whew...that was close." I guess Southwest and Chic-Mid don't mix well.
i was in vietnam and was on the way to saigon from hanoi and i was in a 777-200 or 300 ER and when the pilot powered up the engine after the push back, the engine emmited a high pitch ringing sound...didnt know why...
Wow. Folks are sure hostile on this one. That WAS a hard landing (and i've flown hundreds of times). The hardest landing i've even experienced (in a commercial airliner) was on Southwest... We hit the short runway at Chi-Midway so hard we bounced back in the air, then came back down and they put on the reversers with FORCE... I like the video, though, good job!
Nothing like United flight flight 585 happened on this airline. Southwest has a good safety record; of all their plane crashes, everyone on board survives.
uhhh, agreed with Jazzy one this one, normal Southwest landing, thats why I love that airline, its a fun flight....ohh that and they have only ever had one fatality (Chicago)
That was anything but rough i have flown throw thunderstorms severe and that is rough as a matter of a fact we had to divert so yeah. Wats up with the shaky camera well nice vid though.
It looked completely routine to me. Plane hits ground, bumps up slightly, then it gets noisy as hell because of the wind resistance and the plane slowing down so quickly.
Rough? You don't fly much do you pal. Wow. I bet stepping out of the shower is a chore for you. That was as normal a landing as I have ever seen. Nice vid though Shirley.
Sorry, but that to me at least wasn't a "rough" landing, trust me I've been through and have seen worse. That was pretty decent considering the crosswind and the crappy runway that AUS has. I'm a pilot so...
why is that?
OpMusTi 2 months ago
Lol don't criticize the pilot when he has an okay landing. And I'm pretty sure you can't land this good.

Hmmm I expected a crazy landing but the landing wasn't incredible at all what a waste of my time. P.s. rename it as ''my stupid recording"

Those are the good old Boeing 737-300's. The Boeing 737-700 variety that Southwest also uses is more quieter.
