I agree! One great jazz man, however the fusion is not a mainstream jazz and not many folks get it. I love his "talking" violin technique and no one else does it. Also, if you like this recording, then I'd suggest to check out Michal's Manhattan Man.
He is not as famous as other jazz violinists becouse he is Polish. It's not easy to get into mainstream if You Polish even if You are genius just like Urbaniak
I don't know why he's not as famous as other jazz violinists. He's one of the few violinists that incorporated an amazing jazz language without the need of idiomatic violin phrases(as Florin Niculescu or even Grappelli).

Michał Urbaniak jest dobrym Muzykiem.
Kiedyś poznałem kolesia,który napisał pare zjawek dla Urbaniaka.
Mija się cały czas,może się kiedyś odezwie do Blizniaka.Potrzebuje jego rady.

Idiomatic phrases are part of what give an instrument it's character. It sounds to me like a guitar solo.
I love it, it's unusual. There's nothing wrong with following traditions sometimes though.
