  • (⊙_⊙)......i creamed a little.

  • One of these flew over my house one night when the power was out. I thought I was getting bombed or something. And it was low real low. And the engines sounded just like this

  • that must have been in the morning (background).

  • Fuck you google ads no one gives a shit about you i'm tired of trying to watch a video when a box pops up offering me some useless shit like fucking staples

  • @GBadkarma Now you do know that by mentioning fucking staples google will offer you even more the same.... Therefore.... staples staples staples staples staples staples staples staples staples... STAPLES!

    I'm evil... (=

  • I like how you can hear the interference of the aircraft radar on the camcorder audio every few seconds.

  • donno why... but i would call that plane bob.

  • @Phil1480 I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING no shit i really was

  • malfunctioning landing gear; didn't fully retract.

  • @MrFreddof16

Those landing gear are garbage. I hate fixing them.

  • Loud TF 39,s

  • Comment removed

  • @subron6er maybe, but the C-5 can hold significantly more cargo than the C-17. the C-5 is enormous! it can carry two abrams in there hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • awww its a flying chode

  • those things are amazing to watch, soooo big!!

  • you gotta love that sound in the mornin

  • i now understand the doppler effect

  • That C5A is loud. Speaking of which, i was on my school bus coming home and a C5A was on its way to somewhere and took off from Minneapolis. It was so loud that i could hear its engines like it is at the airport going down the freeway in a fucken school bus! No i was suprised how loud that was.

  • Did all the wheels ever fully retract?

  • copy of an-225 :D fuck you haters~!!!

  • @SMJeOma The C5-A was here first. I was on one in 1971. The An-225 didn't appear until 1988. Go to your room and wish for a dick. And a brain while you're at it. Wait, better cancel the dick because it will take more blood away from your brain.

  • @SenorSpode Hahaha fool Haha are u really that stupid. i was making a joke. cuz i know your FAGGOT americans cant take anything. im refering toward russian plane vids. Always Me America better, You russia copies. Fuck you. So i say it towards american build planes. And its always We are the best. without even knowing stuff. I dont hate America cuz if i did even my country will fall porbaly. But i do hate those stupid Americans always sayin they are the best and first and whatever. Respect others

  • @SMJeOma Interesting parting shot: "Respect Others". It doesn't even sound like you respect yourself. And you've suffered from hypocrisy for...how long, now? Tut-tut...and Cheers.

  • @SMJeOma the C-5 was made first than the An-225..

  • Gear was still down but notice the door open? That door is left open on takeoff because the co-pilot has to manually reach out and pull that gear up by hand. ;)

  • @TheBlackaurora44 Lol...yes I concur Aurora. The job of co-pilot entails very necessary risks and that is one of them. ;)

  • @geoff421 Teehee

  • crash! crash! crash! CRASHH!

  • its looks like its right landing gear is jammed....

  • one wheel stuck ??

  • Auto companies came and took back my repossed truck that day. With my groceries bags still in the back.

  • @1:14 777 of klm:P

  • Was there something wrong with the right side landing gear?

  • @mrdickandmrsbeaver wondering the same

  • verry strange sound

    but also verry cool

  • Beast!

  • DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • @kabenitezguy lol

  • I'm sorry but I hate that plane its so... Ugly

  • @Anonymous5894 who cares if its ugly its designed for heavy transport not for a beauty pageant.

  • How could anyone NOT like this video? Damn this shit is good!

I think that's the first time I've used profanity on YT. Apologies, but this content was worth it. I'd def love this shot in 1080P 60 fps!

    Thank you.

  • The reason that right side gear comes up so slow is because it runs on the same hydro line as one of the flap groups.

  • What engines do these beasts have?!

  • I can hear the Ground Radar blip on the recording!

  • I'm in love... watched one of these do a flypast at RAF Duxford UK years ago a few feet above the ground... on it's way to the States i think from Germany in Beige Desert Camo... it looked like it was barely moving... don't know how it stayed airborn... has this one got landing gear failure?!

  • When I worked on the C-5 used to think it was a waste of tax payers money. Now that I am working on the B-52, I take that back. B-52 is a complete waste of money that does nothing but fly training missions everyday. Waste of gas, waste of time, waste of money.

  • @datboiduane LMAO!

  • @datboiduane I'm in tech school right now and I was on the B-52 but got switched to the C-5, just thought it was funny

  • @datboiduane

they are built purely for conventional carpet and nuclear bombing, something virtually every major nation has since abandoned. yet America still has 85 of them running, and they cost so much to run! Utter white Elephants, kept for their fear factor only most likely.

  • @datboiduane I suppose it's like the Russians always parading their Military Hardware in a way... at the end of the day it's just a deterant... a show of strength... don't mess with us kind of thing... but as you say at cost to the tax payer!

  • I can only imagine what flying a real one is like in comparison to the Air Force sim...

  • 00:36 There's a technical problem with its main gears. (It cannot close completely).

  • That's a C-5B. A models only in the reserves, if not gone completely.

  • @ecw11563 nah the A model is still around, uncommon though. I know this cause i loaded one of em little less then 2 years ago

  • @ecw11563 A models ll went to the reserves, the B models went through a retrofit in between 2004 and 2008 i believe to upgrade the flight deck instruments, and i believe they also have new engines now.

  • are those Rolls Royce engines?

  • @r1casill GE TF-39

  • @adrianspeeder thanks......those things sound wicked!!!

  • @r1casill Try workin' around them all day...

  • @adrianspeeder LOL ok thanks but i'll pass but thanks you for your military service!

  • @r1casill no, GE

  • @r1casill LOL. RR engines on an American military jet. Oxymoron if I've ever heard one.

  • sounds like a ferarri on full speed

  • All 8 lights did not show green...

  • Magnificent! One very big flying machine!!!

  • @hitobito1 A Big waste of tax payers money !

  • Bush was in town that day !

  • @jacwar55 fuck bush

  • @jacwar55 who care about where was Bush...

  • @jacwar55 if so that means that plane is holding 3 marine ones

  • What was a C-5 doing at JFK?

  • trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrauuuuuwwwwaahhwa!!

  • looked like a testicle hanging out.. lol.. but hope they landed safe..

  • iconic sound! will be no more once they've re-engined the fleet :(

  • @vzclubbie Hey I hate to ask a dumb question.....but why are they replacing the engines of the C-5 fleet? Guess our government never heard of the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

  • @SteveWard3928 it's a good question, as far as I know its to do with an avionics modernization program, as part of that plan c-5's re-engined with cf6's will become the c-5m super galaxy. it's just one of a few things to be tweaked over time :)

  • @SteveWard3928 they upgraded the engines so the C-5 can carry more cargo, faster, and farther than previous models. It's also been modernized to improve reliability, efficiency, and maintainability. Supposedly reducing operating costs.

  • at first it sounds like the engines are electric and reason why it would sound like that on some aircraft and not???

  • looks like a Boeing 747 and a C-17 have had a baby

  • the right side gear is stuck?

  • WHAT A MONSTER!!!!!

Maybe because I watched it full screen at high volume? :-)

  • Awesome vid 5/5 stars !

  • OMFG landinggear probs with such an aircraft...

  • the right maingear......wtf

  • By taking a good look at the gear,

I think that it without any doupts,

    is Russian or Japanese.

    Am I correct???

    At least that one wheel...

  • Comment removed

  • Love those GE turbines

  • that looks relyable

  • What Happened To The Right Back Gear?

  • did the all landing gear come up....?

  • great video

  • Such a beautiful sound. And the best airport ever.

  • the gear did get stuck

  • Yo I got one of those so I can take my Lambo and my giraffe with me when I vacation on the moon.

  • They need some maintenance on that right landing gear.

  • HOT DAMN... my house would fit into that baby.

  • NOTHING else in this world sounds like a C-5a taking off. The noise of those engines is pure music to this old Air Force C141 Crew Chief.

  • it's called a whistle tip.and it's

-decoration man, just fo decoration, that's it and thas all man...

(see "Whistle Tip (Remix)" if you don't know what i mean =D)

  • Yeah FRED has a very distinctive roar.

    (F - $#@ing R - ediculous E - cinomical D - isaster) = FRED.

It was allot of work keeping them flying but, i honestly miss working on them!!!

  • lovin the engine noise..music to my ears

  • On the "B" Model C-5's this is done by energising the gear up solenoid on the control manifold at the same time as door unlock solenoid is energised. Much nicer and reliable then the "A" model. I worked on these things for years and loved it! this is why when you are flying it makes so much noise when the gear is lowered. Up and unlock are done first. This pulls the weight of the gear off the locks making them easier to open.

  • Ok what the deal is with the right gear...... On "A" model c-5's there is a hydraulic "fuse" in line to port the first couple of seconds of hydraulic power to "Gear Up". This is done to take the weight of the gear off the door locks so they can unlock easier.

If this fuse goes bad, when the gear is trying to retract, the fluid just goes in a circle and there is not enough pressure to retract the gear. That fuse is a pain in the butt to change. But at least this is an easy fix.

  • FRED!

  • my dad works for jfk and he helped build that runway

  • Engine sound is like the 747 engines in the early 80s. Meatgrinder effect!

  • @chanctonbury63 YO!... How did ya know my wife's nickname?

  • @zuzulo56 Thats fucked up....and awesome, all at once!

  • Nice video

  • Super video! Super spot

  • I think the planes tires had a mal function. The other one didn't go in.

  • these fly over me every other day where I live

  • Try driving past an Air Force base when a C-5 is landing...right over your head. Then try staying on the road. Good luck. Did it myself driving past Hill AFB in Roy, Utah...the sound was unbelievable. Staying on the road...impossible

  • FANTASTIC. Amazing video. I walked through a C-5 at an air show once, they are truly monstrous. And that sound.... I love it.

  • fucking amazing sound, it's like the screams of hell itself are escaping through the Earth and are coming out of those engines

  • wow, usually you don't get a real good idea of just how big a plane is on video as apposed to in person, but you get a good feel for its size in this one. well done.

  • It's never good getting stuck in the zipper like that.

  • "Hey, Jimmy! Take this hammer here, go back to the starboard gear, and give it a whack or two, will ya?"

  • haha FRED living up to his name

  • @hundvonkrieg ok ill ask what is FRED

  • @Inklebonker1 FRED is what some call the C-5. fucking ridiculous economic disaster on account of them breaking so much. Massive aircraft though...and massively complicated.

  • @hundvonkrieg haha didnt know that i like the BUFF name for the b52

  • @Inklebonker1 haha yeah.

  • Actually, that is a gear failure.

  • no its landing gear didnt fail...... it feels like a bird, always keeps 1 leg out

  • I could always tell when a C5 was flying by due to its unique tone.. i love it

  • did your balls drop? lol

  • Bsklarski, I was gonna say that. That's about a 3 hr job to fix that problem lol... I have fixed so many of those I could do it in my sleep lol.

  • Right main gear needs maintenance ASAP!

  • The unique sound of the C-5, I'll never get tired of it..

  • @hsharrott what sort of engines does it have, just curious to know how it gets more of a mechanical sound rather than a jet sound from them?

  • @twistednormal it uses GE TF39s

  • @hsharrott What's different about the engines on the C-5 that give it that sound? I've always wondered that.

  • @StrongEnough78 It's not the engines. That's what it sounds like when gravity loses.

  • Is the c-5 bigger than the c-17? or is it about the same size?

  • @MountEtna788 C-17 is slightly smaller according to airforce personel on another video i just watched.

  • @MountEtna788 The C-5 is much bigger. When seen next to each other, the C-5 actually makes the C-17 look small.

  • how do you use a slide rule by their bigness?

  • NOW THATS HOW A FUCKIN HEAVY IS SUPPOSED TO SOUND

  • Hehe the roller missed the track. happens alot!

  • TURBO HOWL!!!!

  • @Zickcermacity some C5 Galaxies are the M type. They are outrigged with quieter and 20% more fuel efficient engines. You can find some C5M videos on youtube here. The difference is noticeable. Me: I prefer the C5s with the engine package in this video.

  • Those engines sound a bit like the old 747 engines used to.

  • You're not going to sneak up on anyone in that thing. Too cool though.

  • неуборка шасси

  • Love that roar!

I do have to ask: A la 727, 747, and some of the Airbuses - was a project ever undertaken to help Galaxy comply with "stage 2" or -3 noise reductions while simultaneously improving thrust/gallons per mile?

  • Those big birds flew over Camp Humphreys, Korea all the time when I was stationed there. No mistaking the telltale grinding noise of a C-5's turbofans for any other aircraft!

  • Looks to be a Dover Tailstripe. The #2 gear or RT FWD GEAR for you technical types is a coomon problem called a gear strike. Its either a misrigged (bad or improper adjustment) or a worn out gear that requires replacement. I was heavy maintenance for five years and swing qualified. That plane most liking if not heading to dover de, diverted their for maintenance where it was jacked and rigged (adjusted). There is actually a video on here of a gear being retracted by maintence.

  • There's only one word to describe the sound of those engines on takeoff:

    EPIC

  • love the sound of these engine.

  • "Er, Airman, you pulled the down lock pins on #2 right?"

"Uh yeah sarge, I did.... Oh wait doesnt the FE do it?"

    *Sargefacepalm*

  • there's a problem with the landing gear...

  • someones stow away in right gear

  • sbaglio oppure non si è chiuso il carrello destro?

  • those kind of planes fly over my house

  • I spent 10 years as a crew chief on these babies at Dover AFB.........4 years as a flying crew chief. I could tell ya'll a story or two, for sure! There were some hard days but overall, I enjoyed every minute of it!

    "Hog in the fog!!!"

    peace

  • Just to hear those 4 monsters kick in gives a grown ass man a hard on, especially the after roar.

  • Chuck Norris is sneaking a ride in the main gear compartment. That's why it won't retract all the way.

  • @wrxmike123

    Fail.

  • @KiloByte69 Glad you approve

  • Bloody hell the right main gear got stuck

  • During my basic at Lackland I heard these babies flyin' overhead one after another. One plane alone shakes the whole building, a whole row of these and you start thinking there's an Earthquake goin' down.

  • that plane looks like it defys the laws of gravity

  • a flying hippo!

  • It looks like the right main gear got stuck?

  • @billt460 , yes the right rear truck did not fully lock on rotation.

  • @billt460 Nah, they left it partially extended to help with the right hand banking.

  • @billt460 yes, possibly

  • What's up with the right gear?

  • it sounds AWESOME!!

  • Those engines sound like nothing else.

  • wow miss that sound. nothing like it in the world. Former USAF C-5 Crewchief. T ravis AFB 1979-1995.

  • woaaahh... a frog fly..

  • I've seen plane similar to this descend for landing while out driving when I lived in South Carolina, it was so close I could see the underside clearly. Also, when I lived in SC I lived near an airport/Air Force base so planes and helicopters flying over was a daily thing. I just love that sound! :)

  • i've flown in C-5s a couple of times. there is a full passenger section under the tail fin. off course it wouldn't even rate for coach, you have to ware ear plug while flying it's so loud lol

  • I heard this day and night for close to 7 years while living on Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX...the flight path was right over my house and the noise was amazing, you had to pause conversations it was so loud. This clip really stirs up memories of living there. Thanks for jogging a portion of my childhood with this video lol.

  • that sound..... so... awesome....

  • Orgasm at 0:27

  • Who in the world clicks "don't like"??

  • Whoops, that embarrassing! Procedure was to just recycle the gear. The aft right main "missed the track"... (flew 'Freddy' at Travis '83 to '86)...
