I made both of these modifications to our Tsunami 140 and 145 touring yaks.. The hip pad kit comes with several foam inserts so you can customize the fit. This makes a big difference in handling and edging for such a relatively large kayak cockpit. The backband modification was necessary to help self-rescues (since the high back seat tends to fold down) and to make it easier to get the spray skirt on. This video was very helpful - thank you!
