  • Okay I totally qwant Walter Cronkite to be a game show host "350.000 dollars!"

  • so sad ;( what a terrible thing the drug war is.

  • fuck the cia kill em all

  • WE NOW HAVE ALOT MORE PEOPLE IN PRISON THAN RUSSIA DOES !

  • Thats fucking sick that those people are in there for that long, i fell so bad for there kids and families. I hope those juges go to hell for puting these people in there for that long.

  • I loved Walter ...the voice of conscience

  • yea wtf @ my country thats supposed to be the land of the free... and the home prisions filled with non voilent drug offenders ...

  • cool video could you check out my channel :)

  • Non violent drug offenders should be given terms measured in months, not years. Many lives are ruined by these lengthy sentences. There's no reason to give a woman 20 years in prison for merely possessing drugs, even if she's holding 5 pounds of Cocaine. Prisons are overcrowded because of these ridiculous prison terms. It's an ineffectual use of taxpayer dollars and serves no real purpose. War on Drugs is utter nonsense...

  • Even if you support the "war on drugs" you've got to admit that most sentences are outrageous! I don't care if you are holding 10 Kilo's of Heroin that's no reason to sentence a person to 20 years in prison. If a person doesn't "learn their lesson" in 2 or 3 years they ain't gonna learn...

"War on Drugs" is ALL about the money. Prison overcrowding and inhumane conditions are caused by lengthy sentences. We could reduce prison populations by 1/2 and not let a single dangerous person out...

  • I have always hated a thick Manhatten accent.

  • I love Cronkite

  • How come I never heard of this show before? It's clearly from the mid-nineties, when speaking out against the Drug War was far less common, and it features the most respected journalist in the country. It should've attracted a lot of publicity. Which network was this from?

  • (The late) Walter Cronkite did a series of those "Cronkite Report" specials for the Discovery Channel in the mid-'90s.

And I did parenthesize "the late" because Cronkite is no longer with us now; he died last night.

  • @kittyprydekissme I first saw this video when I was 9 (it originally aired on CBS). I had never heard of walter cronkite, but he was the most amazing person I had ever heard speak. It was like the end scene in Truman Show where "the creator" talks to truman. Every word that left his mouth was soaked in sage logic and self-evident truth. I never knew people like that existed in the real world. Cronkite and this special definitely had an impact on the way I analyzed all things in life.

  • @kittyprydekissme Can't remember what network but I remember seeing it. It was a real eyeopener. I guess those prosecuting the war on drugs were happy that most people most likely did't view this when it first aired. It criticizes the war and we can't have that...

  • Damn rockefallers...

  • holy crap! fifteen years?!

  • Illicit sales of drugs is the top employer of African Americans in the ghettos. Take that away, and you'll have to start paying out more welfare checks again.

  • bigdog, who cares if the drugs have negative effects. Alcohol and tobacco are two of the most dangerous drugs in the world. Some people abuse them, but most people use them safely, just like the people who use illegal drugs. People need to be educated about drugs and their dangers, not thrown in jail for most of their lives.

  • I have one question for you...

Do you think Osama Bin Laden would be as powerful as he is today, if it weren't for the war on drugs?

"allof you who are against the drug war probably use or have used in your life"

I don't see how this is relavent, that is attacking the debater and not the arguments sat forth..

It would be like telling a black man during the 1800's, that his thoughts on slavery is null, because he is black.

Marijuana's biggis long term effect is the criminal record..

  • Very good--although clearly borrowed-point.

  • dont worry officer, once the fascists running this country get a bio-chip implanted in everyone it will essentially eliminate drug profits and hence make it unattractive to peddle the stuff. now i dont do drugs but i like to have a few beers when i go fishing. it makes me feel relaxed and sometimes a little buzzed. but ya know, ive thought about this and i cant help feeling hypocrytical for using a substance to alter my mood just because its a liquid and happens to be legal. whaddya think?

  • one word....dope.....politicians paid off; cops paid off. LOok at Katrina; gangs were firing at the rescue helicopters.

  • even without bribes, politicians have plenty to gain from the war on drugs

  • Without the war on drug/user, lot's of gov't employee will lose their job,not to mention the fund will go to other dept.instead. No DEA, no case 4 DA, no overtime, no warrent to be served by local paramilitary darth vader, thus no fund 4 equipments. Sorry the tax money r not refundable. Drug is bad but robbing our $ for a phony "war" is worse. Try ban the alcohol again, w/ the

FEMA, Patriot-act,ID card,Homeland security,it might work this time.

  • Imagine that, they all told the reporter that they were innocent! Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

  • my lord they get less for man slaughter now

  • jesus CHRIST! 1.3 Million for 3 of the worlds non violent people behind bars. makes me want to fucking puke out my guts.

  • god bless america for the way we punish these terrible criminals.

our streets are so much safer that these small women who were transporting plant extracts are behind bars

  • This is bull, so what if they get a bachelors degree, they will not give her a job. I knowform experience.

  • are government is a bunch of stupid fucks..marijuana become illegal cause some stupid fuck said it cause white women to seek affairs with black males.. and thas all i gotta say..... LEGALIZE it

  • 00:40 'more states spend more fightin drugs than on education.' HELLO?

  • Thais makes me SICK!!!!

  • With out drug rehab, we condemn ourselves to this kind of insanity. If we put our efforts into fighting addiction instead of just interdiction we could turn this around.

  • FormerMALiberal, is that the extent of your drug plan.

Nacy already tried that route with "just say no" and it failed.

People are always gonna used drugs.

The drug war does NOTHING to stop the availability of drugs and does not hinder useage.

We must regulate these drugs and end the black market.

Tax them all and make them avaliable to addicts via hospitals where we can offer them rehab and therapy in a safe environment.

  • i agree with you very much. it is pretty simple to see that FormerMALiberal has no experince with or around people addicted to drugs. the whole war on drugs is stupid. they should at least make marijuana legal. i enjoy marijuana on a regular basis and am still pass school.

  • Sob stories, boo hoo. Shouldnt do drugs. Simple.

  • Your a dumbass and i won't waste time explaining it to you but you should not comment on this because your just making yourself look ignorant! REALLY!

  • FUCK YOU! i seriously hope one day someone laces your food and you fuckin open your eyes and see the drug war for what it really is
