They should have the OPPORTUNITY to be happy in a world that continues to deny them LOVE and FAMILY whenever they try to better their LIFE! Imagine how many gays r stressed & mentally ill from the STRESSES of not being able to marry or see their loved one in the hospital. How can u BE AGAINST helping that PERSON!? Have u no HEART!?

Keith Olbermann makes perfect sense on every level, but some people will have to put aside their prejudice and hatred to understand him. I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen. I'm saying now, regardless of what anyone else thinks about equality for all, that hearing Keith's words is evidence that real progress has been made and will continue to be fought for until everyone has it. Thank you Mr. Olbermann for  standing up for what is right and good.

@jerryandkit You haven't been silent for too long, in fact the reason this has gone on for so long is that your getting in your own way demanding government approve the institution of marriage. If you make Marriage a private contract that you don't need a GOVERNMENT License for then any two adults can then enter into the contract regardless of what anyone else thinks.

I have a common sense Idea. How about governments stop being fascist and require government approval to get married in the first place? Just make it a private fucking contract and attach the tax benefits to the kids not the parents.

It's not that hard to solve the problem if your not trying to force your views on other people, that goes for both sides.

the 1st ammendment, separation of church and state. UNDER THE 1ST AMMENDMENT THE STATE SHOULD NOT BE ISSUING MARRIAGE LISCENCES.... TO ANYONE!

The state can't favor Christianity, they are by calling it MARRIAGE. A Christian word with a Christian deffiniton.

EVERYONE SHOULD GET CIVIL UNIONS, THOSE LAWS SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOUND UNCONSTITUIONAL.

Some people don't have religious ceremonies, they call it marriage. With laws-no choice

@tirmen8er Your absolutely right. But no one questioned the federal power grabs of the last 100 years spit in the face of the 9th and 10th amendments. No one questions the DUI exception to the constitution or War on Terror holding Americans without charges destroying the 4th and 5th amendments. Patriot Act, is still in place no one questions it.

The reason no one questions weather or not government should be doing this in the first place is that they've been conditioned to love big brother.
