Pharisees were the most evil people to have ever existed, their oral law (ie: Talmud) is the most depraved, racist, misogynistic, depraved book I have ever read. If you want to learn the medicinal value of eating dog shit, how Jewish people are ethnically superior to the dirty cattle (gentiles) and can and how it's Ok to rape a 3 year old kid then read the Pharisaic Talmud.

no. they did not take the Law too seriously, but they got it wrong because of the standard self righteousness which determines to obey rather an acknowlegement that we ALL disobey it and that none of our efforts constitute obedience to it.
But as to honouring the pharisees, WE ARE PHARISEES. we do get bogged down in minutiae, we get nasty.
as for Jesus holding up the Law, this shows that NOONE keeps the Law.
I appreciate the demand of the Law, AND I KNOW I CANNOT KEEP IT
