  • PEACE!!!

  • The best place for fishing is newport peir becuase some people can catch about like 3 full paintbucket of mackerel in two hours or other fishes they also have but thats only in jun when fishing is good. They also have big fish there theres so many baby batrays swiming along the peir u dont even need a shark set up just gap them with fly hooks like the same size of one he cought here like at the begining of june i see hundreds of them swiming along the cost.

  • Maybe i'll check it out and go there to fish sometime!!!

  • where did you catch this

  • Nice! First sea fish I ever cought was a little 12inch Ray

  • Nice!!!!,,,,,That must have been a very fun fight!!!

  • Not only are the strong because of there wing beinf all muscle its also because there flat have u ever tried pulling up a piece of ply wood out of the water when its flat its super hard right

  • That's a good way of explaining it my friend!!!,,,,You know I caught a 258 lbs. bat ray years ago and it took me 4 hrs to bring it in on 20 lbs test and when it rested so did I,,,,,It fought like a big log going down a waterfall,,,So "big" and so "wide" like a big pcs. of ply-wood.

  • Maybe in the future because I do know that Oregon has some big sturgeons!!!

  • Im sure someone already asked this but does the hook hurt the ray at all?

  • Well although it may not look to nice when I gaffed it if you try to pull a heavy ray up out of the water and it swallowed the hook it sometimes pulls there stomach out with the hook so rather then taking a chance I gaff there wings because it really doesn't harm them much at all and they will live for sure that way,,,,It's a easier way to bring them in and also safer for the ray,,,,"peace"...

  • that looks like light gear for sharking, but I don't know what you were targeting and am only new to sharking. Perhaps I've got too heavy a gear as I'm yet to catch anything decent. I target bullsharks in our Australian canals but usually get rays about that size. hahaha The local sharkers say I've not got enough to catch the big ones, but I just want a feed, not a trophy.

  • Well my reel hold over 300 meters of 100 lbs braided line so I would say it's good enough,,,"haahaa",,,,Man,,,I wish we had Bull sharks here in Northern California but we don't,,,,,,Good luck on those bull sharks!!!,,,,"peace always"...

  • why are sting rays so strong?

  • Because there wings are all mussle!!!

  • why was he fsihing for sharks at a small dock? and how deep is that water he's fishing in?

  • The water is only about 3ft to 5ft deep there!!!

  • dude thats so awwesome

  • "Right on my brother",,,,,I'm really glad you like this fishing video!!!,,,,I have "many more" on my home page and will be posting "many more" fishing videos in the near furture!!!,,,,,,"peace always"...

  • Damn. You are just like me. I enjoy talking to the fish i caught when they struggle. But i usually catch much smaller fishes. Haha. nice one by the way.

  • "haaahaahaa",,,right on bro!!!

  • how deep is the water right infront of u

  • about 2 to 4 ft. deep!!!

  • "No it didn't bro",,,,,I have caught "starry smooth hounds" but not in nor cal,,,,more twards so cal,,,,,,"peace"...

  • "Haahaa",,,,,Good question!!!!

  • Nice batray man. I whent fishing off the ventura peir an caught 16 batrays in 2 hours with squid.

  • "Yea man",,,,I have had plenty of those days when I catch like that,,,,,,Bat rays sometimes travel in big schools,,,,,"OLD SMELLY SQUID" works the best for bait and never fails",,,,,,"peace"...

  • Well it wasn't the shark i caught on the videos i seen but when i saw the picture it was like sort of blue and my dad said it was a blue shark but thank u for helping

  • "Hey there",,,,Well you said that the shark that you caught was only 20 inches and gray colored on it's back,,,,Blue sharks are "very very blue" on top almost purple,,,,and blue sharks are deep water sharks and they have some serious teeth and pretty long side fins,,,,,you should "image google" blue sharks so you can see what they look like,,,,,"but" no matter what species of shark you caught the most important thing is that you had fun catching it!!!,,,,,,"Peace Always"...

  • Hey i got a question.well yesterday i caught a 20inch shark and it was my first time fishing and im 12yrs old but whats the name of the shark,he haded a gray color back and the bottom was white and the shark was sort of smooth too

  • Hey there,,,,If the color of the top was blueish gray and the bottom white then it sounds like a "Gray Smooth Hound Shark",,,"but" if the top color was more lite brown then it was a "Brown Smooth Hound,,,In either case it sounds like it was a hound shark of one of the two species I mentioned,,,In one of my videos I catch a brown smooth hound,,,,,watch the video to see if it the same species,,,,,That's great that you took an interest in fishing at your age,,,"KEEP ON FISHING",,,"peace always"...

  • @SharkMan650 near what place, oracle, san mateo bridge?

  • No,,,,not in San Mateo,,,,,It's in South San Francisco...

  • @SharkMan650 oh ok thanks

  • Good luck on your next fishing adventure!!!,,,,,,,"Peace Always",,,SharkMan650

  • where is this

  • nice one...

  • Thanks!!!

  • "Yes I am",,,,All of my videos are filmed with my gopro,,,,,I love it and have been using one for a two years now!!!,,,,,Thanks for checking out this video!!!,,,,I have many more on You Tube and many more videos coming soon,,,so "subscribe",,,,,"peace alway",,,SharkMan650...

  • are you using a gopro hero to film with? thanks for sharing. i love fishing videos :)

  • gotta catch em all

  • "haahaa",,,,Yea I catch a lot!!!

  • @cgshreryy lol u got that from pokemon

  • hey wats up again man just stoppin by again cuz i just gotta tell u this. i was fishing earlyer last night caught 3 leopard sharks all 3 were over 4 feet one was close to 5. but thats not wat i wanted to tell u , i got a bite all i heard was ZZZZZZZZZ! and my pole bending really hard i fight it for about 6 minutes but im almost at the end of my line so im like SHIT really gotta fight it now so i titen my slack as much as possible and SNAP 80 pound braided line snaps... fishing in alameda. so mad

  • Hey bro some bat rays are so so big that you won't have a chance to catch them even with a 1,000 ft. if they want to keep going,,,,But 99% of the time you'll land them,,,,,It's sucks that it snapped your line but if your going to fish for them a lot maybe you should get a reel that holds more line?,,,,,"Just a suggestion",,,,,But in any case it sounds like you had a "fun night fishing",,,,,,,,,"Peace Always"...

  • I have "no dought" that it was a "Monster Bat Ray",,,,,I have caught many well "over" 250 lbs. in the past and landed them for one reason only,,,,(I HAVE ENOUGH LINE ON MY REEL),,,,,,My reel holds about 1,000 ft. and the reason I got a reel that holds so much line is so that I have a "much better chance" not to get spooled,,,,,,

  • "Hey whats up bro",,,,,,,First thing that I want to say is "nice catch" on the Leopard Sharks!!!,,,,,,,And about that bite that you got that just went "ZZZZZZZZZzzzz",,,,,,,"Yea",,,,It's was like a "log" going down a waterfall,,,,Right!!!,,,,,,,

  • @SharkMan650 hahaha yea it was like a log goin down a waterfall. but the thing is i was fishing by a bridge about 250 yards aways and it was heading for it so no matter how much line i had it was gonna get tangled. it could have been a sturgeon to im not to shure but im going to the pro shop friday to get a 200 pound rated pole 150 pound rated line and i have about another 500 dollers for a good strong reel "tired of shit getting away" thanks for the suggestions thou man. "KEEP ON FISHIN"

  • Well bro I'm sure that your new set up that you get well give you a much better chance!!!,,,,,,,Let me know when you land one of these "Monster" because I know that you will!!!,,,,,,,,"Keep Your Lines Tight",,,,,,,"Peace Always"...

  • hey whats up again man i just caught a GIANT one of those bat rays here in oakland 4.3 feet across and 3.9 feet long without the tail. like 90-120 pounds 30 minute fight with a pole thats rated for 25 pounds and reel is rated for 20 pounds but i got 80 pounds test line on it hahahahha. love ur vids by the way man keep it up

  • "Right on man",,,,"Yea",,,,This is the time of year when the Giant Bat Rays come in the bay,,,They fight like a log going down a waterfall,,,,"haahaa",,,,,Get ready bro because this is also the time of year when the bigger Leopard & Sevengill Sharks also start to come deeper in the bay too,,,,,I hope that you catch even bigger Bat Rays & Sharks in the near future,,,,Have hella fun fighting the big boys,,,"haahaa",,,,And I'll keep the videos coming "for sure" from time to time,,,"Peace Always"...

  • I have a question....Im new to fishing, just started pier fishing (I live near Redondo Beach,CA) is catching a stingray and shark, do u specifically setup your bait and stuff for them, or just chance on whether you get a stingray, or a shark, or a fish

    Sorry for the newbie question

  • "Hey what's up",,,,,No bro,,,,I target what ever I'm fishing for,,,"it's not by chance",,,,,And for different sharks rays I use different set ups,,,,,Let me know what species of sharks or ray that your going to fish for and then I can be more helpful,,,,,""BTW"",,,,My "pleasure" to answer your questions,,,,,Don't be sorry for asking a newbie question,,,,,If you never ask then you never learn,,,,"Peace Always"...

  • @SharkMan650 i dont know what kind of stingray to go for, anything that tastes good =)

  • Well bro,,,,,I have no idea whats the best tasting stingray???,,,,,Around my area there's mainly the bat ray and some people that I know really like the taste of them,,,,I'm sure it it's a different type of ray it would taste a little different?

  • @SharkMan650 ok lets go with bat ray

how would i go about catching one of those bad boys?

  • "Okay this is what I do to catch bat rays,,,my hooks are size size 7/0 and my leaders that I make for Shark & Ray fishing in the S.F.Bay is a 3 ft. cable coated leaders 70#,,,The the bait I use for ray is "really smelly" old squid,,,Keep the squid in your backyard a day before you go fishing so it's nice and "smelly",,,I suggest that you use latex gloves because old squid really smells and it's takes a really good hand washing to get the smell off your hand,,,You do this & you'll catch for sure!

  • @SharkMan650 alright man, this is awesome, now when i go fishing with some friends imma be like "Hey guys, look a hear!"

But seriously, thank you for all your help sir, I really appreciate your time and help and i already subbed to you because you have some awesome videos up here on youtube and if i catch one, trust me, it'll be on Youtube!!! =)

  • "Hey bro",,,,It's all good!!!!,,,,,I HOPE YOU CATCH A LOT OF FISHES AND POST YOUR CATCHES ON YOU TUBE!!!,,,,,I'm "really glad" you enjoy my vids,,,,People that appreciate my advice are one of the "biggest reasons" I post my fishing videos,,,,,Let me know how you do when you and your friends go fishing and if you have any more questions you know where I'm at!!!,,,,,"Peace Always"...

  • @andayy (i dont know if the other comment went through or not)

but thank you for your help sir, I really do appreciate it very much, once I catch one of these bad boys I'll be sure to put it on Youtube and also, I told my friends about your Youtube channel so they should probably be subscribing to you soon

Again, Thank You very Much Sir and Thanks For All these Kick Ass Videos! =)

  • "Thanks Again bro",,,,,,I know your going to catch some BIG "bad boys",,,,Redondo Beach has some good fishing,,,,,I look forward to watching your videos soon!!!,,,,,"Peace Always"...

  • hey do u eat bat rays or have ever eatin one .... im eating the wings of 1 rite now .... just wondering ... thanks if u reply

  • "Hey there",,,,,Well I have never tried bat ray myself,,, "but" a lot of my friends have and they say that it taste good,,,,,,"Best Regards"...

  • I brought one of these in for the first time last night. It was only about 2.5ft across the tips. I quartered it into 4 good size steaks and holy cow it was good. So far i only shared two of the chunks with my father. One was simply marinated 1hr in a few drops of Jack Daniels and cajun spice and thrown directly on the grill while the other was marinated 1hr in Italian dressing and garlic salt, wrapped in foil and baked on the grill. Both turned out excellent.

    ..my new favorite sea food

  • "Yea",,,,I know a lot of people that really like the taste of bat rays,,,,,And the great thing is there are so many of them in the bay,,,,,"Beat Regards"...

  • and also do the stingrays ever sting people? stingrays kinda scare the shit out of me

  • Well you know some stingrays can bend there whole bodies up like a scorpion and sting you as I found out in Mexico,,,,,"It just missed me",,,,,Haahaa,,,,,,,,But you don't really have to worry about the bat rays really trying to sting you that way,,,,,Just handle them carefully and there's no reason to really worry about getting stuck by them,,,,,,,,"Best Regards"...

  • yo cool videos. where are good fishing spots in the bay area for leaopard sharks. I would prefer spots in Marin County. Thanks man

  • Hey "thanks" bro for the "thumbs up" on my video,,,In Marin County there are several good places for Leopard Sharks,,,,,China Camp or Paradise,,,,And if your not to far from bodega bay I would go there too,,,,For bait I would use "smelly" old squid and also Mackerel,,,,,,"Good Luck" when you go fishing!!!,,,,,,,"Peace"...

  • @SharkMan650 thanks. i fish in the corte madera creek if u know where that is. by piper park and near college of Marin. I caught 5 Leaopard sharks there today using sardines and a sturegon rig. two of the sharks were huge for the creek. One was about 4 feet

  • "Right on",,,,,,,Sounds like you had a fun day!!!,,,,,Yea I know where Corte Madera is but not the creek?,,,,,Over my way I'm fishing for striped bass and Halibuts lately and normally start to fish for sharks in mid summer but I have noticed that the "big leopards" are even being caught here too lately,,,,I think the warm waters have brought them in sooner then normal,,,,It's looking to be a great summer for fishing,,,,,I hope you get some "monster sharks" this summer,,,,,,"Peace Always"...

  • @SharkMan650 yea we have been trying to catch the stripers in the creek. we caught a lot in august, september, october, and november

havent got any yet unfortunately. where do you catch them now?

  • "Yea",,,The stripers were in the bay on the Peninsula "pretty deep" in May and June,,,,,I caught 26 stripers and a few halibuts in the past month,,,"all from shore",,,,A few decent sized ones but most were on the small size,,,,I video taped a bunch of fish that I caught and will edit and post them on you tube sooner or later,,,,,I think soon I'll be going to the ocean to catch them because the bites not near as hot as it was in May and June,,,,,"Best Regards"...

  • @aaabball415 you should put your stiper and halibut fishing videos up

  • "Yea",,,,I plan to for sure maybe sometime towards the end of this month,,,,I have to edit the videos when I get the chance then I'll post them,,,,"So watch out for them",,,,,Thanks!!!

  • lol that camera lens u have makes your poll look like its bending MAJORLY what reel do you use? i got a 7ft med action ugly stick on a penn serga 4000 what would you reccomend for shark/big fish? what rod length and brand?

  • "Hey whats up man",,,,,Well for sharks and rays I keep it cheap "but" dependable,,,,,I use an 11' Beefstick Rod and my reel is a Tica GG100 with braided line,,,,"Peace Always"...

  • i hate those bat rays my uncle caught 100 pound one on 17 pound test took 25minutes and three laps around the boat, right off of the uss hornet that rock wall

  • "Yea",,,,If your fishing for something else and you catch a Bat Ray instead,,,that sucks!!!,,,, "but" on this trip I was fishing for bat rays and sharks,,,so it was cool,,,,,,"Peace Always"...

  • thank you my dad got home late so i think we are going tonight instead

  • "Good Luck",,,,,I hope that you catch the "big cats"...

  • i am haha i just need a new rod im going catfishign for some big big cats tonight or tommarow night

  • "Right on" and "Good Luck",,,,,,I hope that you catch some "big cats"...

  • i know right i love to use my ultra light crappi/brim rod the little shoot ones you know but i broke it like 3 days ago i throught it near some rocks and i was pulling it mid air and it broke i was trying to get it off the bank

  • What a "bummer" that you broke it,,,,,I hope that you get a new one soon,,,,"take care"...

  • ye bro im only almost 15 it was crazy last year i hope i catch another one this year i cant wait to go back to the beach im just bass fishing and catfishing at ponds with my friends but my dad just bought a boat so i go bass fishing alot i wana try to catch a big cat and i go to montana to fly fish but i live in northcarolina not to many big fish

  • "Hey whats up young man",,,,,,Well bass and catfish are a lot of fun to catch,,,,,I love catching them on ultra lite rods,,,,That's "great" that your dad bought a boat and I hope that you catch some "very big" cats on it,,,,,Just remember if the fish are smaller then just use a lighter rod and that way you'll still have a lot of fun!!! "Peace Always"...

  • hey i got fishing alot and i like to go to the beach to fish and i was at hiltonhead island sc, and i was fishing in a smaller place like this more narrower and i landed a 55+lb stingray i was just looking to catch you know the ussal and the night before i cought a 11 pound redfish it was awsome i was using medium rods and it took 1 hour and 6 minutes to get in awsome huh? message me back:)

  • Hey that's "awesome" man,,,,,I love catching big rays,,,,,They fight really good as you now know,,,You arms must of been pumped for fighting it for so long,,,,,"Good catch man",,,,,,I hope that you catch many more!!! "Peace Always"...

  • Watsup Bro!!.. It's me, Jay, havent talk to ya since a few months ago..

Well, I need your help man. How the hell do you keep those darn crabs from getting onto your bait before the ray/shark does?? Those crabs are driving me nuts!! Sucks to always change bait every 15 mins!!

  • "Wa'sup Jay,,,,,""Hope all is good with you"",,,,,Well to answer your question about those darn crabs eating your bait,,,,,The best advice I have for you is to use size 7/0 hooks and crunch a squid and a half on the hook really tight,,,,Then you can wrap it with some of that tread that we use on mud shrimp,,,,usually that's enough time for a shark or ray to find it before the crabs eat all of your bait,,,,But if that fails then I would just find a different spot for a while,,,,"good luck bro"...

  • hey dude - nice catch!

i was out looking for some bream near the shore when i came across this sting ray. It was a hard one as my rod was not built to handle large fish like these.

However, despite the rod, i managed to catch it. It has a 82cm wing span. Big one. Have fun

  • "Right On",,,,,It sounds like you had fun catching the one that you caught also. I enjoy how they fight and there's so many in the San Francisco Bay that if you fish for them you'll most likely hook up on one or more on every trip!!! "Best Regards"...

  • do u catch them of the pacifica and half moon bay pier when they migrate?

    Thanks for all the help!

  • "Hey it's my pleasure answering any questions that you may have",,,,No Worries!!! Well basically the rays come close to shore in the ocean and in the bay in the summer months,,,,,,,And after summer is over they tend to migrate to deeper waters and then migrate towards Baja California/Mexico,,,,,,Really the "best" time of year to fish for them is from April to November and after that the bite really slows down from shore and you only catch them occasionally,,,,,,,,"Best Regards"...

  • hey sorry im asking you so many questions but when they migrate to the ocean can you catch them at the pacifica pier and the half moon bay pier? and what time of year do they migrate there?

    thanks for all the help!

  • do bat ray migrate to the ocean?

  • "Yes they do",,,,I've caught many of them in the ocean,,,,"Best Regards"...

  • @ambersaki "Do batrays migrate to the ocean?" Yes, they do, often in huge numbers.

They often migrate south, to warmer waters.

  • "Yes" your right,,,they do!!!

  • thanks man i just went out and got a 50 pound ray with the smelly squid u helped a lot!!!

  • "Right on on catching a 50 pounder",,,,I'm glad my advice helped you out,,,,,,"Best Wishes"...

  • nice fish! do u have any tips on targeting just bat rays because whenever i try to catch them i get brown smooth hound sharks thanks

  • "Hi There",,,Well you really can't stop the sharks from eating your bait too because they like the same bait as rays,,,,,"but" if you want to catch more rays and less sharks then get some "squid" and keep it some where for a few days "out" of the freezer or refrigerator so that it gets "really smelly",,,,,,"The rays will go crazy for it this way",,,,,,Rays "love" old and really smelly squid much better then fresh squid,,,,,,,"Best Regards"...

  • lol...that fishing pole is a beef stick huh??...hahaha...it look just like mine....anyways nice job....

  • l.o.l.,,,,,,,and "Yes",,,,My fishing rod is a "Beefstick",,,,There great rods,,,"especially for the price",,,,,And thanks my friend for the "thumbs up" on my videos,,,,,"Take Care"...

  • haha..u take care too and yeah keep up the good fishing....i'll post up my shark fishing vid..when i see that 9 to 10 foot leopard shark....again....hopen to see it...hahah....welp tk

  • l.o.l.,,,,,,,And if I ever see a 9 to 10 ft. shark swimming close to shore in the bay then maybe I'll turn on my video camera then jump on it and wrestle it out of the water for fun,,,and then of course post it,,,,,"Haaahaahaa",,,,,,I wish!!!

  • Cool video. I wonder how you know after the bite if it was a shark or a ray? does ray pull harder and steady? I've been fishing for striper all year w/ no luck at the beach, but I caught some baby rays at treasure Island. keep the videos coming. awesome POV too.

  • Hey There My Friend,,,Well pretty much it's really easy to tell the difference between a Shark and a Ray,,,Rays pretty much just pull like a log going down a waterfall,,,,And if it's a shark it may also pull "but" you can tell it's a shark because they also shake there heads side to side and you can feel them shake,,,Sorry you didn't catch any Striped Bass this year but there's always next year,,,,I hope that next year will be a great fishing year for "you",,,"Best Wishes & Good Fishing Always".

  • Thanks for answering my questions. :)

Like you said, there's always next year!

Btw, can you tell me more about your leader #, what kind of hook and their size? I want to try fishing sharks.

I have some 3/0 circle hooks, and 30# leader, will it work fine? Or should I used J hook and 40# leader?

    Thanks a lot. c",)

  • Hey there again,,,Well my leaders that I make for shark & Ray fishing in the S.F.Bay is a 3 ft. cable coated leaders 70 # (Sturgeon leader cable),,,The reason is the bigger sharks sometimes wrap around it and if it was mono line it would break when the big sharks wrap around it,,,And my hooks are OWNER SSW ALL PURPOSE BAIT HOOKS or OWNER CIRCLE HOOKS,,,size 7/0,,,I've used smaller and bigger hooks in the past but without a doubt I recommend that you use size 7/0 for all around,,,."Best Regards".

  • Thanks again.!

  • Anytime my friend and good luck fishing when you go!!!

  • Thanks for the reply man. Yea, I mainly catch my mud marlins with squid. With sardines and mackerel, Im likely to catch a shark or a flounder. Well, I'm planning to go to the bay this weekend with some friends, since you're a resident, I think you might know more about the bay, so what fish is in there as of now? Are there more reports of catches in the Autumn than in the summer? Name's Jay by the way, and I'm from Sac and usually I head to the bay in the summertime, not the in the Autumn.

  • Hey What's up Jay,,,,"Yea" for bat rays squid works best,,,,,,When I use sardines once in a while I catch a Halibut or Striped Bass too,,,,,With Mackerel I seem to mainly catch the more bigger sharks,,,,,Now concerning when is it better fishing "Autumn" or"summer",,,,,,,By far I will say "Summer" is much better,,,,Right now the are some striped bass & some Halibuts but not many and by next month the Sturgeons should start biting,,,,Anyways bro,,,,"Best Of Luck" when you go fishing this weekend.

  • Kool.. Keep the videos coming man. I just viewed all your vids, very nice and steady recording, plus loving the Catch 'n Release. I usually keep one for the table then release the rest for the sport. Are there more rays in the winter months than in the summer months? One time I caught a flounder with frozen anchovy, is there a size limit on them?

  • Hey thanks again bro for the "thumbs up" and I'm really glad you watched & liked all my fishing videos,,,,,,,,,Also during the winter months even the rays are scarce,,,"Summer is best",,,,The rays and sharks pretty much come & leave around the same time,,,,,Concerning the "starry" or "arrowtooth" flounder you caught,,,,,I'm (pretty sure?) there's no size limit & the limit is 10,,,,,,,"But" just make sure it's not a "halibut",,,,,,I wish you great fishing always my friend,,,,,,,"Take Care"...

  • Nice catch. I landed a few bat rays at Berkeley. Where is this place you're fishinng at? I like it, no wind at all. Did you used squid or shrimp?

  • 5 stars

  • Thanks Bro!!!
