@jm98460 i think after being there i realised it's not particularly easy to categorise prostitution.for instance, here in canada (where the economy is definitely not collapsing) i am friends with one or two escorts who had a pretty normal upbringing (one even went to college) but i guess they simply found it better to make tax-free money through escorting. at $250/hr, with 4 clients per day thet can easily cash in $1000 a day (plus they look like underwear models so...)

@newyorkjapan i didn't really make it to itaewon during a saturday night and i had to go back to singapore the following thursday, so i believe my assessment of gay nighlife in seoul wouldn't be the best one, given that i learnt now that unless you do gay stuff during the weekend, nothing gay happens the rest of the week. although i do have to tell you... the 2 times i went (mon and tues) to itaewon trying to find something gay to do, everything was REALLY dead... like -1 people in the bars..

Peak is 2-3 AM. Just FYI

@gabsylv got it... thanks! although i couldn't witness itaewon in all its weekend glory 'cuz i was on a plane back to singapore on thursday... what about weekdays? do people go to the gay clubs anyways? i did hang around until maybe 1am or so with some guy i met online... but we were both foreigners and we ended up giving up after a while... :(

@spunkyspunky666 No, Itaewon is pretty dead except for FRI and SAT nights. Except for the saunas, of which the best is in Itaewon (Equus) and Gangnam (Watermill. There are a few saunas for older men in Jongno 3-ga and others--including DVD rooms and small theatres-- spread out throughout the city..As faras I've heard, saunas are more or less active 24-7......
