  • The cathead was about 100 m away from the rest of the hull that remains. However around the cathead was quite a large collection of metal pieces It looks like this a part of the wreck that broke off from rest of wreck as it decayed.

  • A cathead is a beam that comes out of the side of the ship, usually from the deck or just below the deck. From the cathead an anchor is lowered and the anchors from the catheads stops the ship from moving too much. The more important ships had extensively decorated catheads. The cathead is identified by its shape and the fittings for the rope
