  • Segway Pimpin!

  • Very cool idea, but what does it do on a hill?

  • Minor problems with this have already been pointed out; uses up battery; but the other major point hasn't been covered. Somebody walks up, gets on it, and drives away.

  • great idea. Would have made a great patent to license to the makers of of the segway. Unfortunately, unless you filed a patent application on April 26, 2008, at the latest, you've lost your chance. Under the patent statute, you have a 1-year grace period to file a patent from the date you disclose your invention to the public.

  • if it cost as much as a bike then maybe it would have caught on but it is basically a toy for the people who can afford nice toys

  • @paintballgundown8 So what you are saying is that computers should never have been invented because "normal" people could not afford it when it came out? Prices will drop, don't you get that? Everything new is expensive! That's how the economic system works.

  • @avatarelite they still havnt dropped and batteries arent much better. Untill they can go as fast as a bike, as convienent as a bike they can never replace a bike. Its not that new and its not that practical but hopefully it will improve.

  • The E67 Segway (first gen) had an electronic kickstand built into the software. The problem is that it was dangerous because it was hard to tell if the Segway was on or not. People would get on thinking it was on only to fall on their face because it wasn't.

In any case, this is a great idea!

  • brilliant....fucking A +!

  • sell this to segway

  • One of the reasons why we're not seeing Segway like devices around a whole lot, is because Segway gets to enjoy a patent protected monopoly, allowing them to gouge us.

A prime example why patents are NOT good for innovation.

  • So a company should spend millions or dollars to develop a product so someone else can copy the design and build it without investing in R & D?

    You are a moron.

  • A good grief, yet another one of those FUCKING GODDAMN RANDOM FUCKING YOUTUBERS READY WITH THEIR GOD FUCKING DAMN INSULTS.

    FUCK YOU ASSHOLE !

    Go fuck yourself.

You could have started a discussion, but now I don't feel like it.

Drop dead shit face fuck tart !

  • When you make a comment that is so fucking retarded to begin with, you should expect to get called out on it.

So I recommend that in the future you think before posting stupid ass shit like that. And fuck you too, douchebag.

  • Fuck you. Drop dead loser.

  • The simple fact is these will never be seen on a wide scale what so ever untill the price is lowered a great deal and some sort of shock is delivered (concerning conventional transport) to the wider public in relation to driving not to mention that Segway does not do enough world wide advertising probably because they are out of most peoples price range.

  • The only reason the price is kept high is because only one company gets to own it. That's the whole point of a monopoly. They get to milk it for what it's worth.

Segway is obviously not very good at marketing and working with other manufacturers to help spread it better, or else, they're just lazy.

And that's just a toy. Imagine patents on medicine or other life saving equipment.

End of day, patents are bad, period.

  • It doesn't matter anyway 99% of people see them as nothing more then a novelty they are only used for office travel if your in a huge office or in a mall they have no place in a home unless you live alone in a huge house or don't have to be at work early lol for people to want to buy them on a huge scale for more then work purposes they would have to be like around 500 - 1000 £ (750 - 1250 $) and even if they do spread the love so to speak it ain't happening

  • Without the patent I think we'd see kids version of this thing for under $300. Kids would be using this all over the place.

An adult version might cost $500 or less. Lots of people would be using it in bike lanes.

It'd become an accepted new form of transportation. New types of bike lanes might get constructed for them.

But, Sageway makes sure it'll only trickle out as a rich people's toy. They produce only as much as their lazy asses feel like.

  • Most of them that are sold atm go to business's and you don't even see that many in the places that buy the most its funny that cant seriously be making a profit.

  • Patents are bad.

  • kool...but as for the patent thing - unless you filed either a patent provisional or a patent application, this video is considered prior art and fair game...

  • i have the same model XT. is it possible to buy you out ?? how much ?? thx

  • thats a great idea

  • Renetto rulez

  • i want a segway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That is bloody awesome !!!!!!!!!

  • i just rode a segway today and it would balance itself with out anything

  • the only way that could happen is if it was an e series, or if it was facing up a hill or small bump

  • not sure what series it was, but it was on level ground, i was in the Edmonton mall in Edmonton Canada and they had segways there for test ride

  • any ideas for how to make this work on the new x2 and i2?

  • how much weight did you use?

  • Great idea guys!! It's perfect for when you need to stop for a second. Say if you were delivering mail or dropping off a package.

  • I don't think this is cool at all, it's leaving it activated, so anyone can interfere, or steal, or just go off on a stupid untrained joy ride, when you leave it, you should de-activate it for safety, and security.A segway owner.

  • they make kick stands...they look lame as hell...i think a more hidden one or a way to secure it like an internal tethering method would be a cooler add on. good job none the less it is a realy neat idea.

  • Awesome.....

  • i never driven or owned one, but that looks ingenious. good work!!!

  • how about just sticking a pushbike one on the front much simpler!

  • nice idea!

  • Cool, simple, functional.

  • That Segway looks bad ass with those ATV wheels! Plus, that kickstand idea was brilliant!

  • cool

  • This is great. Go for it!

  • That thing is really cool. =| Wish I had one...

  • US patent ppl are so dum I could patent the same thing sprayed yellow

  • Like the idea as a series, very interesting.

  • lol nice

  • Way cool thinking. One of those things that's too simple for most folks to consider. Also, it's become apparent reading these comments that science ed in the US is really in the shitter. Ugh.

I dunno how patent-worthy it is, but it's probably better than my gloves for button pushers. I would at least take a look and see if anything similar is pending. I dig your videos, by the way.

  • patent it! doooo it! DOOOO IT!!

  • Hahaha, Yeahhhh, Doo it. dOOOOOOOO iT.

  • I'm reding some of these comments. "I don't think it's enough weight" blah blah. It's a fuckin prototype, made in sum1's garage. I think the idea is genius Renetto. Good work.

I want 1 with the stand now.

  • VERY fun video. Post more like this! If you can.

  • Sorry, that got a little messy. Maybe the youtube admins will ban me! For being messy xD

  • Great idea guys! Check out my videos of some new models coming from China soon. :)

  • That is definitely worth patenting!

    One question though:

When you dismount from the segway it shuts down, right?

But when you guys mounted that weight on, it stays on. This means it'll run out of power keeping itself and let's say "the false person" aka the weight up straight. Right?

  • I do not think thats enough wieght for it to detect as a "person" sitting on it, remember the people who developed it spent literally years to perfect that thing. Im just surprized the developers themselves didn't think of that.

  • Actually, i think it is enought weight to make it stand.

The only problem i see here is that when the weight makes the segway static it's also making the segway drain power.

And the segway was thought of in the 1950's.

The segway most people know today is the Segway PT (Personal Transporter). The earlier model was called the Segway HT, while the second generation, the ones in sale now are called "i2" and "x2".

    (for example iMover and XT).

  • All there doing with the wieght my friend is to fix the CENTER of balance, basic concept. The wieght on it is NOT correct, it is to front heavy hince why it falls over. By adding the wieght toward the rear there fixing the center of wieght, hince why they were picky about the pivet point, just so happened the pivet point was right where a bolt was, they were ready and willing to jimmy rig there own if need be.

  • I should google and see how much wieght it takes to activate the gyro on it (Which is the device your speaking of.). Im sure its more then 20 pounds. I dont think the wieght they had on it was even twenty pounds.

  • I see what you're saying.

When they add the weight to the steering stam it makes it tip over when the weight is "inactive"... Well, i see it differently from your POV because the XT does not have a kick stand or any device that makes it stand up straight.

  • So, when they put that weight on the Segway it doesn't make a difference to the Segway XT's balance when the weight is not serving it's purpose. This is because it only balances the Segway when it's centered.

The weight makes the Segway think there's a person on it. The Segway then tries to keep itself up, because the weight is centered, and that makes it think that the "virtual person" on it is trying to stand up straight, or static. It's programmed that way.

  • No weight was mounted on the Segway earlier, and the Segway only balances itself and it's rider when it's able to detect anything that's riding it.

    Is that clear..?

  • Sorry, I don't think there's a market for this...

  • genius. patent, DEFINITELY.

  • Very good idea renneto!

  • Jeesh, all this does is waste your batteries (adjusting to balance all the time).

Just make one that holds it up AFTER you turn it off.

  • Not bad. Now if people would just buy Segways there might be a demand for the kickstand.

  • ... the inventor strikes again ... good one Paul.

  • you stole the garageband song from my computer lol

  • it'll be a great series.

  • patent it you could make some money!!! but segways are for fat basterds that dont know how to walk so all you fat basterds out there learn how to walk...

  • it's spelled bastard

the stupid bass solo song playing in this video makes me want to kill fat guys.

  • patent it!!!!!!

  • what a moronic waste of time, i want my 2mins 49 secs of my life back, get real jobs u guys...ps renetto....you're a twat !!

  • love it.

  • Clever! PANTENT IT! PATENT IT! PATENT IT! :)

  • But won't that run your battery down while it is standing there in balance?

  • Not sure, but would you rather your Segway® went crashing to the curb?

  • Maybe a mechanical kick stand would also work better

  • They went for ease-of-use. Remember, old ladies have Segways too.

  • Yep, rich old ladies

  • That was brilliant! Patent it. You should do more of these videos.

  • i want a segway!

  • haven't I seen something like that before..or are they yours about the place? congratulations

  • def. patent it

  • Heck yea,..Patent it!!!!,.. Livewire- :P

  • omg thats neet how much are thoes?

  • great idea posting it on youtube while considering a patent.

  • that was awesome.

  • isn't that like leaving the ignition on on a car while going to the grocery store to buy smtng? the reason it stands up without a stand is because its fooling the onboard gyro's as if someone is actually on it. So if you were to turn the Segway off.. your invention wouldnt work.. but love the idea ... great job !:P

  • Nice Device !!

  • Awesome idea. Patent it!

  • nice one :)

  • Patent it.

  • I love segways!

  • Great vid Renetto! Those things look like a great laff! X-D

  • yes you should

  • sagway promotes lazyness, and obesity accross, america!

  • Please invent the underwater Ipod

  • great idea

  • Nice idea but its just going to drain the battery. Switch the thing off and lay it down. I hope you didn't waste any money patenting this.

  • why don't you push it the other way and see if it falls.

  • Are you ever gonna Grow Up, Renetto? GROW UP RENETTO..

  • Does anybody know how to get your video to play automatically like Renetto does here?

  • PATENT: YES, PATENT: YES, PATENT: YES

  • i like the videos. helps me learn to think differently.

  • PATENT IT!

  • Patent it lol!

  • this is great! congratulations..

  • The point is they have a lot of time on their hands.

    And we have even more.

  • But still the video is so pointless really.. waste of time..

  • So, the point is?..

  • with time though, comes good/crazy ideas.

  • Yeah I'm going to leave my segway on and ready to steal... Doesnt that drain the battery leaving it stand and running?

  • doesn't that already happen on new sedgeways?

  • Hahahaha awesome

you could have your own show with dave

and Like you fix stuff or test Stuff I dunno But that was kickass good job

  • !!!!!!!! COOL !!!!!!!!!

  • Thats crazy ren. thought u were talking about the traditional kick stand. but that balances it. Patent that bitch.

  • OMG , nice thinking dudes realy ... have you patent it or shall i :p

    greets

  • hide the lead weight under the said 8X10 folding tray...or make it oval to fit the look of the machine..

    :)

    ...love this sh!T...

  • very cool, i'd put a 8'' X 10'' tablet as the weight, providing one cup holder and small tray...

    just a thought..

    ;)

    ps.. i'll take only 5%.. ;)

  • you should totally patent that. It is so cool and so simple

  • As with everything, the simplest ideas are...

  • Great Idea!

  • This is pretty creative idea... and it worked! Entertaining video, too. Good bg music. You drove people crazy with the toothpick in the mouth guy (ugh), but this kind of stuff is really cool... you shine. Maybe you've found a new niche? Make more of these kinds of things!

  • that's so cool!

  • I love watching creativity happen!

  • That's really cool. There is already something very similar on the market here in the U.S. Many malls have security that use these machines.

  • YOu should patent it and sell it to Segway.

  • neat..

  • I think that Renetto had bad or unhappy childhood. He is like Michael Jackson. He wants to be cool and accepted in any way he can. Think about it. This is his dream, and you all are keeping his illusion alive. He is one dimensional character, that seems get bigger and "cooler" everytime somebody clicks the "Subscribe" button. You all make him what he is. You make him God. Now happy, I ask you? This is your reality television. You made him what he is.

  • I agree. He IS a parody of himself, and he represents the level of YouTube entertainment, and it is very LOW. He has bipolar and he is demented.

  • So, you're watching this video (or at least going to the trouble of clicking on it and commenting), because...?

  • Renetto is not just an attention idiot, he also tries to be young forever and "cool"... he thinks he is "in", and not "out".. Well, he decided that he is "in".. He thinks everybody likes him because he is so "cool". Hah. What an illusion.

  • Totally wicked. Great video!

  • How to render the Segway obsolete?

    Google: Maddox Segway Obsolete

  • Oh and I think that'd be a great idea for a series, make some cash too for teh patents haha

  • Wow really great idea.

  • Wouldn't it make more sense for the manufacturers to balance it properly when it was made?

  • Hostely.. while It seems functional and completely works... I would have spent 25 cents on an OFF SWITCH. Call me crazy! =o) Good Job Paul & Dave. Be Well! Zen Archer

  • You'd have to make it quite expensive since there is very little demand for it. but those that have the segway would pay for that.

  • You two built that from scratch? Yeah it's okay to have.

  • great job, nice improvement. you'd think that they would have their own solution to such a problem :S

  • what about leaving it on a steep hill and somebody bumps it the weighted part?

  • I'm sorry...I already own the patent on that.

  • gaynetto is a fucking cower who erase me as a member

his wife is a drug addict looser transexual with her big addam apple of hers and the four poor looser of their kids thank's to gaynetto videos all their classe mate pick on them where is child services no wounder his wife does drugs

  • wtf? "gaynetto"? thats not even clever. renetto is cool. if you dont like him...dont watch his videos? moron

  • As of September 2006, approximately 23,500 have been sold at an average cost of $5,250. Weather is a concern!

  • Now that you put this online someone else is going to patent it! But were you really going to patent it or was it a joke?

  • didn't i suggest that?

  • nice job

  • patent!

  • I've always wanted to try one of them...

  • high five

  • Cool, I guess... I mean not like you'd be able to pimp anyone's ride with it, seeing that practically no one has a Segway...

  • Yep, I've always wanted to ride a segway... (They don't seem to sell them here)

This invention would prevent tipping, sweet

  • patent patent patent!!

  • Its dangerous to promote leaving the device "on" .

Some kid will get on it and get killed.

  • its not your fault, where are the kids parents?

  • seeing as Segway isn't being sold anymore (at least i'm pretty sure...no one was buying it cuz it was so expensive) probably won't get patented. However, it's a good idea, thought Segway should have thought of it themselves...

  • um . . . hello

    segway com

  • Ebay & YT buy me lot's of fum stuff....

  • PATENT IT!

  • great! Patent it netto we gotta see this on segways for the next 15 years! Hahaha amazing job guys!

  • Awesome! Show us more!

  • nice !

  • THANKS!!!

  • Yes that was Great!

  • That's a GREAT idea! Wow.. you 2 are brilliant.

Keep the videos coming, Renetto, great as always. I love the variety!

  • WOW! Great video! I love to see more videos like this.

  • Fabtastic

  • No doubt here; patent. Segway needs to speak with you and seek your marketing strategy. Gasoline now $3 anywhere and climbing fast.

  • dude thats freakin brilliant!!!! u should totally patent it

  • Poolios

  • thats freaking cool....did u make a brake for Segway?...nice
