  • what kind of guitar is he using? love the sound coming out of that thing. i can't read the headstock though

  • Thanks for posting this...introduced me to Teddy it did....when I saw it on TV : )

  • The UK is so fortunate to have a music show like 'Jools Holland.' I wish I could tune in from here...

  • The Artistry Is Apparent, So Where’s the Audience? Answer: This guy has a humongous audience considering his artistry.

  • @4lx123 haha. Well put. I have to agree...

  • THIS LAD NEVER LOOKS HAPPY

  • What a talent! Seeing him soon at theBarbican...... yay!

  • A new slant on an old song, but brilliantly performed! Love this guy!

  • Seeing him tomorrow in the Academy. Hope he plays these two. =D

  • Theres something you don't see everyday. A vocalist doing backup vocals to himself. @ 1:28

  • He's his own artist. I always thought he looked like his mom, and then I looked again. There is something about him that lets you see them both, but he has his own point of view, and his own style. I love his stuff. He had the experience of playing with his Dad coming up, and that's just family. He wouldn't have been on stage with him if he wasn't good though. He's blessed, and we have a new Thompson with his own style. Amen, how cool is that:)

  • A worthy talent in Dad's line. I'm so happy to find this kind of simple irony living on past his father's own inimitable style.

  • Teddy u Rock!

  • ted's real gud and cute

  • hierzulande überhaupt nicht bekannt. Ein geiler Song - hab ich mal im Radio gehört - gleich die CD gekauft. TT ist echt hörenswert.

  • this man as got it all is dads musical and a voice thats great and live just great gypsido the song you mean is beeswing and do agree one of RTs finest

  • If Teddy Thompson comes to Burnley or Nelson next time he tours, I'll seriously consider buying a ticket.

  • Never really listened to this guy before, really enjoyed these! great stuff.

  • he looks like his mother

  • Best find I've made in a while - can't get enough of it!

  • A sad song about partying. Now that's art. :) Very inventive, great talent.

  • I love "I wish it was over" its what everyone is thinking when theyre in a relationship that they know they shouldnt be!

  • "Everybody move it" reminds me of every awkward social situation to ever happen to me.

  • Teddy the man!

  • cant stop singing this...

  • Saw him as the opening act for Elton on Saturday - very good.

  • teddy rocks my world!

  • Love Teddy... love the song but..

"bump and grind/have a good time... free yourself/lose your mind"!!!???

Great voice but pretty cheesy lyrics!!!

  • You appear to have missed the irony.

This is a song about being an outsider.

  • Ah, but they're supposed to be cheesy you see. He's poking fun at the whole party-because-you're-supposed-to- thing. It's sarcastic! It's the perfect anti-disco song!

  • @Hunter172 Don't think he's being sarcastic. He sings the words too forcefully for it to be a satirical joke. And it's not party-because-you're-supposed-to. It's party-because-it's-fun. Everybody should move it. =D

  • This is brillaint, i would love to see him back on Jools Holland soon singing songs from 'A peice of what you need'

  • Whats the tuning?

  • Dropped C.

    =] \m/

  • Great performance!

  • This guy is talented, the whole album is brilliant.

  • He sounds like his dad but looks like his mum!!!

  • Does not sound so much to RT, I think there is more a resemblance (if there has to be one) to neil finn / crowded house.

    Teddy is terriffic!

  • Awesome!

  • great song xxx

  • What a talent!

  • mate thanks i needed that. I saw this performance randomly and thought that it was awesome. Saw it on youtube, brilliant again. Then someone compares him to blunt. Blunt! The ability to convey real emotion sets theese two apart, guess which is which!

  • Blunt is not fit to lace this guys shoes. This is real talent

  • LOL! I'm so glad someone finally thought up an eloquent way to shoot down that comparison. James vs. Teddy? Jesus...

  • Someone needs to release a DVD compilation of Jools' musical guests...almost all are brilliant. Great sound as well.

  • teddy, your beautiful voice haunts me

  • I wonder how many more times I will watch this video this week

  • wow this guy amazes me, i saw him live on saturday with james blunt, and id never heard of him but i had to buy his album straight away! hes fantastic!

  • I envy you! Dare I say he is better than James Blunt? Hope he comes to Melbourne.

  • lol i wouldnt be as brave to say that myself but he is very close!, if i was you i would check if james blunt is going melbourne cause teddy is staying on tour with james for this tour of the world.

  • Thanks for the tip. Personally I'm not into James Blunt, but my girlfriend is.

  • well to be fair i think when we went to sheffield teddy played almost aslong as james blunt did, which is surprising but teddy mest have played for about 1 hour or something, and james blunt didnt play for much longer really, but i definatly recomend it, its fantastic show!

  • yeah james blunt can't hold a candle to an honest talent like teddy!

this is his dad's tune! (isn't it?)

    i

d like to hear him cover butterfly wings, RT's best song ever!

  • These are Teddy's songs. Be careful what you say about Mr Blunt! Someone might minus you! Haven't heard Butterfly Wings. Thanks for the recommendation.

  • Do you mean Beeswing?

  • @gypsido Now you teased me! :D

I don't know a RT- Song called "Butterfly Wings" and I can't find it.

    Do you have this song?

  • @KWFBong its called beeswing

  • @brennanj81

yea, that's also my favourite :D

But "Vincent Black lightning" and "night comes in" are great, too!

  • @gypsido James blunt is epic in some respects. This guy is retarded.

  • @Bleumange How is this guy retarded? To think that is probably hypocritical.

  • @lemongod54 Probably hypocritical? Logical win.

Listen to his lyrics and 'creativity' of accompaniment.

  • @Bleumange Yes, probably hypocritical makes perfect sense, however, logical win does not.

His lyrics are clever, theres probably more to them than you can see. Go away.

  • @lemongod54 Your overuse of the word 'probably' is probably humorous. Discuss the intelligence infused in these lyrics.

  • @Bleumange He used "probably" twice. Get over yourself.

  • @Bleumange wot a prick u must be

  • @macca00007 Proves that his fans are in the intellectual elite

  • @gypsido

oh no- Teddy wrote this, not his dad!

  • my name is Teddy thomson (no p)

  • i cried listennig to this..

  • extremely good mellow voice, i love the way he mixes his great voice with the guitar rythem. 5*

  • i agree

  • Teddy Thompson came in to our studio this morning. You can check out the videos at my page.

  • 2 great songs.

  • I DON'T WISH IT WAS OVER.

  • Heard Teddy's last album, he's a total unique talent away from his parents (better singer than his dad, takes after Linda I guess) But, one thing, can anyone in the Thompson Clan write a fucking happy song!!! Been listening to them for the last 20 years and I guess only 'Sunnyvista' has some happy songs!! :)

  • YEAH!!!

  • I fiest heard him on the 40 days and 40 nights with Love Her For That and it totally blew my mind. He is incredible

  • I saw Teddy perform in Galway, Ireland a couple of years ago. I had seen him on Jools and loved his music. He seems like a very deep guy, I wasn't really sure was he enjoying his performance but I enjoyed it. Great voice, great songs.

  • saw him on austin city limits-hardly strictly bluegrass festival playing I wish it were over, highlight of the show

  • Its on his newest CD...Its really a great CD

  • first time i herd this guy was on jooles holland and he blew me away, would love to here more from this amazing talent.

  • I feel exactly the same way as drummenator. I love all of their contributions !! and I love to hear each of Rufus and Martha's voices on his albums as well as his contributions on theirs. Just love them all !!

  • Does anyone know where I can get guitar tabs for both these... and if not someone should make some and let me know.

  • does anyone know where i can get an mp3 of this?

  • iTunes

  • Brilliant

  • Would love to see or hear a 2nd generation collaboration between Teddy Thompson and Liam Finn

  • going to see teddy tomorrow here in norwich cant wait new cd out monday cant wait see you tomorrow teddy

  • "I don't even like you or can't you tell,

Whenever I'm sober I treat you like hell,

If I could be stronger and not so weak

Instead of just thinking maybe I could speak..."

Inside the mind of a prick.

Hoping this is a fictional lyric. Teddy is fantastic.

  • This guy is going to have a long career. Loaded with talent and charm. Ummm.

  • Great Song and beautifull voice!

  • Teddy will be on Conan tonight. So awesome.

  • Fantastic - Is it just me or do I hear a bit of Andy Yorke in that voice.

  • Jackson Browne (surely?)

  • Teddy is wonderful! His voice, his lyrics, his music...it's all beautiful, just like he is. Thanks for uploading this video! :)

  • I'm partial to the first song. That's just gorgeous.

  • I remember seeing this on the night and thinking how raw and engaging the performance was. I'd agree with other users who remark that the album was over-produced - he should have stuck to guitar and vocals; my opinion anyway..

  • I love teddy, but unlike most I see through Rufus, I know him for the talentless hack he truely is

  • How so? You don't like his writing, piano-playing, singing? I think it's all brilliant, so I'm just curious.

  • I really like Teddy Thompson but I hate the production on the separate ways album. There's too much going on for me. This sounds so much better, just him and his geetar.

  • yeah that's what I thought too when I heard the album version :)

  • rufus is way more talented as a singer song writer..teddy agreed at a concert here in the states

  • I LOVE Teddy thompson... and please how can you compare him with Rufus they're very different. I <3 Rufus as well i saw Teddy through Rufus. I saw them all in NYC at Carnegie Hall for the Wainwright Family and Friends Christmas Show teddy was awesome! BTW his sister Kamila is amzing too! They sang Last Christmas together! :D

  • It reminds of an irish folk tune :)

  • ne1 got his albums??? they like this, this is awsome. Or is it more folky??? and is it as gd not live????

  • the last album is very good and worth getting, but for me, doesn't quite have the same raw intensity of this performance.

  • sorry, he isnt more talented than rufus. he's excellent, but not better. and both are lightyears ahead of Martha.

  • What live performance

  • wonderfull wonderfull performance. check out

  • this was an amazing performance. remember watching it live, such intensity, beautiful voice. went straight out and bought the album. thanks for posting.

  • this guy is way way more talented than rufus wainwright.indeed martha wainwright is awesome as well, shine so bright song is my favourite.

  • They're all awesome. I'd say Rufus and Teddy are neck and neck. Why does it have to be a pissing contest?
