the only way to make an effect is rise for the cause-Plantery
This line meant so much to me.I'm not sure if he thought of it himself or if it was quoted from somwhere else..regardless, this line impacted my life in alot of ways
I kind of wish AOTP did more songs like this. The battleraps are cool as fuck, but I think versatilty is what seperates the greats from the legends.. AOTP is definitely great, but if they dropped more jewels like this they would be legends
This album turned me onto rap music. I held the ignorant view that all of it was terrible garbage, but these guys are truly intelligent. Not only is their outlook on life and subject material impressive, but the way they convey it as well. It's a shame that shit like Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne is what's popular for the genre.
@standdownman I'm glad you found this, friend. Unfortunately the major multinational corporations that control what music we are exposed to on radio and television don't want us to be exposed to this. They want us to believe that hip hop is a fucking joke when it is heavily rooted in knowledge and understanding of self. They want to destroy the culture of the black man AGAIN like they did with slavery. We need to let'em know that we know what the real music is and WE ARENT GOING TO LET IT HAPPEN
You are greatly misinformed my friend. No one is trying to destroy the culture of the black man. The people who run record labels do not view hip hop as a means of expression, rather as a means of entertainment. Hip hop, like any other form of music, is a business. Unfortunately, talented rappers won't sell in today's market. Who's fault is that?..the ignorant listener. This isn't a white/black issue..I've seen plenty..if not more..black people listening to Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy..etc.
Man thats what I try to explain so many people with narrow views on HipHop, but some people truely don't understand and refuse to take a different look on rap music . Naw mean? Dem real rockers that dont give a shit and give me the same excuse every time, haha shit. Word up to you homie, atleast you can think for yourself don't let the government brainwash you
@YungH023 "Real rockers" as you put it are exactly the opposite. Rockers should enjoy all music if it's good. The rockers that dismiss ANY genre because of what's played on the radio pisses me off and makes me ashamed of listening to the same music. But yeah, you're right.
@ChappersLaNoCry straight up man... I listen to all shall perish, as blood runs black, our lady peace, JMT, AOTP, I Killed The Prom Queen, System of a down, Immortal Technique, Protest The Hero, AOF, Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Marley, Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, Pearl Jam, Billy Talents first cd, shit, I even like classical, and jazz, blues, it don't matter, as long as I can see some kind of talent in the artist, or I can relate to the song, I'll listen to it... Except country or techno.
@standdownman Respect yo, Jedi Mind Tricks' music has a way wider range of vocabulary. Listen to the Pyscho-Social, Chemical, Biological And Electro-Magnetic Manipulation of Humans Album... You'll be tripped out. Violent by Design, Legacy of Blood, Servants In Heaven, Kings in Hell... all dope albums! Snowgoons is crazy shit too... they mostly do beats, and they collaborate with other rappers.
