hello friend , can you please send a video or notes for some music films for example tere mast do nein (dabaang) ou peeloon (once upon a time in mumbai) .
as a beginner, when learning the first strokes/lessons onwards, should we begin with strong hard forceful strokes on the tabla. i have good fingering movements right from my childhood, i can play very good beats on the table even now, but i am not able to get the Dha resonating sound still. i think my hand position is not correct.
@omnamahshivayashiva sorry for super late reply finally getting around to sorting the site and lessons out, but no, I'm doing bachelor of IT @ macquarie uni, sydney
@roozbeh613 Thats why I said "basic", I'm planning on doing a more beginner style video of this that people have asked for but I've been caught up with uni and travel, and been neglecting doing this for quite some time.
@X15Studios for that note, it can be *tin* or *ti* or even *tun* you don't have to follow the prakar/theka exactly how it is on paper. Its really up to the players preference or maybe more definitive depending if your following your gharana. Experiment with changing notes like that, and choose whats best for whatever composition or song your playing for.
Hi, thanks for the videos, they are very helpful. I just wanted to know where I can find a mp3 version of the instrumental track used in the beginning of the video during the titles. Can you please email it to me at singhbikram92@gmail.com

I would like you thank you about uploading this stuff....maybe it isnt perfect but it s educative anyway! and Tuning lesson is clearly described:) I enjoy Kherwa beats and would like to know some more nices moment of "speed ups " by terekete and other kind of phrases that are useful for that ( you give here Tere kete nake -and i think much more but cant catch it up from the melody)
actually Kav, this is definitely a Mukhra - it's an exact example in SwarShala, the software.. check out the demo if you haven't already.. it's quite useful
@MrMANGATAOT tukras are more like short pieces, were as relas are generally rapid articulated strokes with tita kitas or small structures, It cant be a short piece because there is like no body and tihai, does that make sense?
@PammiChand yea spacedout is right, its a special type of surgical glove thats non latex and powder free, it works better then regular gloves doesn't become loose when I'm playing, I've been using it for quite some time now, and none of my syahi's have ever gotten damaged by extended amounts of practice or play
@PammiChand , my hands are about a medium, but the glove I use is a small size, and I cut of the small finger from the glove, so it stays firmly around my finger
dude how do you play the bol "ga"? A very slow motion of this theka at 1:54 and gradually to the speed you played here could be really helpful for the beginners like me! Your added texts made your video top tabla lesson on youtube. Keep your good work up!
Can anyone tell me the bols for the variation played at 1:30 and 3:35 in the video
PLEASE
I just dont get it

Your playing is good but you don't put up the bols that you play other than the basic ones.....

MY QUESTION IS THE GLOVE PIECE ON YOUR FINGER DOES MAKE THE TABLA PLAYNG BETTER OR IS THAT IS PREFERENCE
ShriVishnuMandirJcNj 1 year ago
@ShriVishnuMandirJcNj , it prevents excess sweat from my finger tips getting onto the syahi(blk spot) and damaging it

not sure about your first example of a rela here.. isn't that a tukra?
MrMANGATAOT 1 year ago

kav123 1 year ago
@kav123 Yeah.. I actually meant 'mukra' not 'tukra'.
Your example here is: ti ti na - ti ti na - ti ti na - tita kita taka tika kita
I would call that a mukra
Maybe you didn't mean this line above is a rela - it just looks that way because this line appears just after you define a rela.
As I understand rela, it means a short piece like a kaida with tihais etc too, no?
Maybe these definitions are loose to a degree.

@PammiChand i think its just the finger of a rubber glove cut off and used do the syahi wont melt when you play
SpacedOut8RH 1 year ago
Quick question, what is that blue substance on your right hand ring-finger?
