I have q-jet on my 305 but its all factory its a 86 gmc but my carb has been rebuilt and it still not up tp speed i think i wasted my money on the rebuild of it.
well i have a organial Q-jet on my 305 and isnt worth 2 pennys I had it rebuilt and nobody in my town knows how to adjust them for what i want so if anybody has any ??? let me know thank you

I have Two motors, a 307, and a 544 big block. Im doing a very mild build on the small block for the street and to hold me over untill my big block is done! LOL, lots of work left. Im into drag racing, the car wont be streetable In the end. I think that for what im doing, a 307 is a prety good motor, but it will never beat my big block, or any for that matter, just my opinion!
@yamahafreak125 if you bore a motor, its number goes up......a 350 bored 30 over is a 355, and stroking increases the number too, a stroked 350 is a 377, and bored/stroked 350 is a 383
Check out my vids that I have a my 1967 chevelle. Original 283 small block chevy, and she is sweet. Only thing I did to it is put a new carb, manifold and distributor on it. 67K miles on the car.
A 307 is an awesome engine, got one built up in my '70 Chevy guesses have been just voer 300hp with all I've done I'm running 10:1 on it. which is better then the stock 8.5:1 lol.
Sounds good, not many people have ever given them a chance which is another reason why I built mine, seen only a few 307s and found VERY little about any ever being built up.. So I thought I'd be different, but I know what you mean about moeny..lol. I've had this truck and all for over a year and really I'm just now getting the engine done how I want, I got some videos, but none of them are 100% up to date..lol.
if thats the foam air filter replace it with a paper unit,if she ever back fires she will suck melted filter through the carb, seen it done on a friends truck.....
man sic engine!! nice work you did, cant wait to you get it on the street and feel/hear the 2ndaries hit on your carb. by the way I did not see a steering pump yet? in the works yet? AWESOME
It's cool when the induction is louder than the exhaust! Should get a decal:CAUTION... This vehicle will suck in small children and animals. Smart men know noise doesn't equate power.
My 67 Impala was the same way. Really loud through the carb and would wake the dead the Orange Peelers on the other hand were no louder than the stock exhaust on a modern V8.
I'll say it again and everyone who knows carbs will tell you,. Qjets are the best carbs when dialed in. Power, mpg and drivability. Ask the experts don't take my word for it.
@tamapalagi by qjet? i am assuming you mean the famous Quadrajet carb on the Chevrolet small block motors. i don't know that much and am trying to learn a lot about engines in general but if that's what you mean. then i agree.
Wellmy Q- Jet is not dailed in and I had it rebulit and I'm still not happy with it even tho my 305 is stock from the factory I still think it should run better than what it is I just not happy with them!!!
a set of afr aluminum heads and a holley 750 dp it would run real good. holleys do have afair amount of maintence but so does that q-jet in order to get it ajusted right. Plus when your lookin for all out power a holley or demon is the only way to go
thats cuz you dont know how to tune them. i have a Q-Jet on my hotrod now and 5 or 6 holleys sitting on the shelf. i had holley on got 8 - 10 MPG put on Q-Jet and got 18 MPG and it has way more performance. you cant bog it out. power is always there no matter how much you lug it down.

yamahafreak125 2 years ago
Actually if you bore a 305 .30 over it does make it a 311.

Is your 311 an overbored 307? Ran one hard for 7 years-unbreakable motor. It pulled my 67 Impala around with ease. You know how heavy those are.
Nivicoman 2 years ago
It`s a 305 ,bored .030 over ......not a bad engine.

Mine was mostly stock except for Orange Peelers. At the time there wasn't much money for mods so I just kept it tuned as sharp as possible.
