  • Wasn't it great that the cameraman chose to focus so close on Tony's hand. There's so many today that would get unuseful long range or really short range ones of their face whatever.

  • @ColtraneTaylor Very true! Sometimes one can wonder if cameramen ever saw how a guitar is played. And this solo is my favourite from Tony, so here it's an audiovisual caviar for me..

  • @oliverecords Mine too!

  • geezers playin a rick!

  • as previously posted was at this concert. Its still my favourite live version even after having been at several live peformances up to 2005. hope 2012 will take me up to 40 BS live concerts. Tony plays with 2 fingers most of the time and these solos are not rated by today's guitarists but of their time I think they are great and I still like today - okay they go up and down the pentatonic scales but I still think they are great to listen to and better than many of todays guitar gods offerings.

  • ozzy looking fat and strung out here

  • @BOKNOWSCOMPUTERS He loked A LOT worse in 1986 during his "Ultimate GLAM" period.

  • Malmsteen,Satriani and Vai are fast, but they couldn't put a decent melody together to save their lives. It's all about the flash with them. Does anyone walk around humming a malmsteen solo?

  • @Chrisdrumz @Chrisdrumz Agree with you totally. I was in the audience for this concert at age of 23 now 56! The first solo is so melodic that I can sing it almost like a song. I play guitar and some guitarists are so dismissive of Iommi and other 60's 70's and 80's guitarists. I admire the technical ability of malmsteen and others but there's more to the guitar than moving up and down the guitar neck with speed. Tony Iommi has an unique style and is also a brilliant composer.

  • @sabfan66 You said it. Brilliant composer.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhh 3:20

  • 0 dislikes.. logical

  • Ok, I know a lot of you might disagree with me, but I personally find the version on the Reunion Live album, as well as the 2005 Ozzfest Donnington version much better. this one seems more sloppy.

  • Iommi toca demais

  • Man that brings back memories!!!If this was MSG 1978,I was there,3rd row back stage, right behind Bill Ward...

  • The mighty Black Sabbath

  • The rest of music in metal and rock only wishes they were this damned good.

  • Real progressive music. I always like to hear this song fromtimeto time, it's so powerful.

  • Great song and performance. Sabbath is the best!

  • Wish I had Tonys` SG.

  • Wow, Geezer is really tearing it up and getting funky, especially starting at 2:00. I love this show and period of Sabbath's history, and sometimes feel this is them at their prime! (even tho I have read they didn't like this time)

  • @treetoptop geezer is one of the most creative bass players ever - he is so funky he could play in funkadelic - his bass lines e.g faries wear boots are pure r&b and could sit perfectly in motown number but he does it in the context of sabbath. hes one of the few prolific bass string benders in rock and treats the bass as a lead instrument instead of just keeping the beat and root note- rather like mcartney did in the beatles.

  • @bunterx What I been thinking for 35 years!

  • the bets solo guitar in the histoy!! el mejor solo que escuche en vivo de Black Sabbath los adoro ojala se den una vuelta por sudamerica el 2012..

  • I catch the riff in the middle of the soong very similar to breaking the law ..

  • @QBOx3 yeah dude. but bands use other bands riffs all the time

  • does anybody know what kind of guitar tony used in this show?

  • @demoto123 Isn't that "Old Boy" an SG style guitar custom made by John Birch? Replicas are now made by JayDee in the UK, I believe.

  • @432ps1 That guitar was made by John Birch, who was imprisoned for a long time for poising his wife to death. I think the "Old Boy" one was completely made by JayDee, except for the pickups. Last I read Tony doesn't have any John Birch guitars. I also think he donated it to either the Miami or N.Y. Hard Rock Cafe.

  • This album may have been not received well when it came out but this song is one of the best sabbath songs. super badass riffs

  • This album may have been not received well when it came out but this song is one of the best sabbath songs

  • This album may have been not received well when it came out but this song one of the best sabbath songs

  • I banged my head so hard think i need a neck brace

  • love that guitar work

  • can barely tell toni's prosthesis tips unlike the paris show. I want that sg so when I play the crosses are upside down.

  • My goodness only 26,000 views here ; should be a 100,000,000 for each video of Black Sabbath's

If a prospective pro guitarist wants to see how to play lead escpecially with light strings on a GIBSON SG with a rosewood neck finger board this is the MAN to observe and learn and he is disabled missing finger tips ta boot. An inspiration to all of us that have said "they can't.

  • i think very few song they play allow iommi to really just shread like this is a really nice solo

  • I love it when Tony looks at Bill to hit pronounced noted together, and then at 3:20 Bill changes pace - and there is Ozzy dropping right into the groove the band is playing. It's plain to see - Ozzy is FEELING that shit. And that's what I love about Ozzy - he really loves what he does, he really loves heavy, kick-ass Rock & Roll......These guys, even with all the egos and attitudes flying around at the time - LOVED playing on stage with each other. You can SEE the fun in their eyes man!

  • and the coke...

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOTHERFUCKING SOLO!!!!!

  • Tony is a Guitar God !! One of my biggest influences as a youthful guitar player,, just amazing riffs and screaming leads, to hear his power chords even to this day just really does it for me !! I bought one of his signature guitars and the thing friggin screams !!!!

  • BANG YOUR FUCKIN HEAD..

  • This is one fav black sabbath solos

  • if you look at 1:47 you can see the cap on iommi's finger.. he got the tip of his finger cut off when he was younger

  • i d played this so much,my videotape couldn t take it and finally broke.i was in tatters about it.days before you tube kids...

Cuba

  • Iommi one of epicest Guitarist ever... Dark solos, lef handed, nice cross , even his guitar fretboards got a cross background.

  • One of their coolest riffs? More like 3 or 4 of their coolest riffs!

  • woow...iommi just blow my head out!! so simply but effective..nothing very complicated, not too fast..just perfect to rock your body out!

that's why he's a true guitar god and a true legend

  • @gabilxc not too fast!!! are you sure??? cuba

  • one of the best solos of mister Iommi...

  • @radiohm3 this's the best solo of the universe!!!! cuba

  • Amazing performance. From this show one would never guess that the break up of the band was so near.

  • Technical ecstasy is such a good album to underrated

  • tony iommi is master

  • HAHAHA at 0:30 ozzy looks at the camera! It's pretty awkward

  • Anybody else catch how close the breakdown chorus in the middle of this song sounds an aweful lot like Ozzy's " I Dont Know " slow part?

  • @goalnick Well, Ozzy has a style so you could say that about alot of the stuff he did.. This song was recorded more than five years before he did "I Don't Know" ...

  • @goalnick I hear you man..i just commented on this subject on a another clip of this song..i'm glad to see i'm not alone hearing this resemblance :) That said, i guess there's nothing wrong in borrowing from yourself ;)) Ozzy and Sabbath rules!!

  • @goalnick it does , but i read randy didnt even like sabbath so it mite jus b accidental

  • @goalnick yeh maybe a hint in the rythmn section, cant quite, mostly the bass Hell I dont know.!!

  • @goalnick 2:57 sounds like breaking the law by judas priest too.

  • Look at those TRILLS!

  • This album is so fuckin' great, I listened to it until it wore away back in the day.

  • Tonys amazing ive been readin ozzys book n wen i read bout tonys fingers it made me give great respect 4 him

  • great song.

  • Geezer playing with a pick? That's different!

  • @bkrbtlg08 fingers probably started hurting

  • @crunkalac Yeah, I agree. He goes nuts on War Pigs.

  • He plays such amazing melodies on guitar and he remains calm and makes it look so simple.Tony the guitar KING!

  • Tony Iommi makes it look so easy!

  • dude thanx 4 posting!!! fucking awesome!!

  • BLACK SABBATH # 1

  • hottest guitar distortion ever

  • the last moments of this line up together

  • @bengativo6 lol no they did stuff in 79 too

  • @danophile07 what couldve they done toghether if they were on their last legs..i know they just snorted more coke than one of those dirt devil vacum cleaner.smoking 66 inches joint.drinking 80 gallons of booze.ozzy s end was happening it took him a while to see what really was going on.1979 was not a year that they really did something constructive

  • @bengativo6 the fallout was because of a bunch of things 1 was that ozzy wanted them to keep making heavy music, stay heavy metal because towards the end of the 70s they were making more typical rock and iommi knew ozzy was right coz as soo as they were a full band again in 80 they made a full heavy metal album with dio

  • @danophile07 heaven and hell .

  • @bengativo6 yep that was the album i had that album :) great album

  • Oh master we are not worthy!!!! your song "the straightner" at the end of wheels of confusion is the reason why I picked up a guitar and spent countless hours as a teenager trying to get the sound just perfect...........34 years later and still trying hahahahhahahahaha!!! long live "the master of reality"

  • Great solo 5 Stars

  • this is one of greatest songs ever in music

    BLACK SABBATH RULES

  • FUCKIN' AMAZING DISTORTION!!!! Tony Iommi is the King!!!!

  • Many of the other god given riff writers & rythm players don's solo very well: P. Townshend, M. Young, J. Hetfield. Mr. T. Iommi, however, possibly the best riff writer & rythm player of them all - he also solo as a god.

  • Tony's solo is great!

  • OZZ is such a fckin EPIC legend

  • i know

i read a comment on a youtube video yesterday saying ozzy was not even that good when he was n sabbath and no one cares care him

well i do and he was the best thing that ever happened to black sabbath in my opinion

  • this was him at his best, be had developed a bad ass sound, but his voice was hanging by a thread

  • amen

  • god i love the long Iommi solo's they're great! too many guitarests today try to sound like Yngwie and he's good and all but i tlike the old solo's like Page Iommi and blackmoore!

  • hell YEAH !!!!!!! ma hree favirotes to me iommis the gretest

  • You are absolutely right, man.

  • @JaymzRG Damn straight. And it's such a shame many don't realize that.

  • iommi, Page and Blackmore are much better guitarists than the likes of malmsteen satriania and vai because they are all round musicians -- servants to the song and to the band - and they all have their own unique sound and style. So has Angus, Brian May, Mick Ronson, Dave Gilmour, Eric, Jeff beck, Keith, Jimi, and Alex from Rush. Malmsteen and his kind have lost the plot - noodlers for the sake of it - technical virtuosos they are but lacking in that magic that makes a brilliant player.

  • @bunterx Exactly. Malmsteen and all those guys play more like machines than guitarists.

  • @bunterx you are so right, that was what i always thought

  • @bunterx ..take all the guitarists you mentioned + evh......and you have randy rhodes....

  • @bunterx Well said mate, well fucking said.

  • @bunterx could not agree more .. EXACTLY .. comprehensively explained... malmsteen n likes jus play on licks...they prepare it and play them at increasing speeds...to be labelled as virtuosos... even then bucket head is considered one... but the likes of Page, Blackmore, Iommi, May, Knopfler, Hendrix, Duane Allman... were god like..they had such precision .. such control... its soo good when u listen to these guys... u feel heavenly...... the last who could live up to such playing was slash .

  • @bunterx well said my friend!

  • is it just me or is this video really quiet?

  • I've noticed this too.

  • it's really quiet:-) BTW: only 2400 views? It's so sad...

  • true but other videos have 100000 views idk y

  • master! Iommi is a master

  • Never Say Die was good & all but in my opinion Sabbath should have stopped after Technical Ecstasy, this song being the final track on that record would have been a perfect way to go out. This song is amazing & Iommi never sounded better!

  • Black Sabbath I saw this tour in 78 Van Halen was the opening act. Sabbath RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So did I , in Oakland CA. Van Halen was great too.

  • absolute MACHINE guitar work by the master Tony Iommi! I love this track so much ... Black Sabbath Rock!!!

  • The best solo of his carrer, and the best I ever heard. The guitar talks...
