As a big fan of other singers like Sissel and Kiri Te Kanawa, I must admit no one does this type of song better than Sarah. She reminds me of Julie Andrews and Marnie Nixon.

This arrangement is transposed up one semitone so that note at the end does become a G# as in the origional score it is G after the key change. But she sings it in pure head voice, she doesn't belt it at all.

Guess no one else remembers that SB was so derised by the critics that she was not nominated for a Tony for Phantom; as a result, ALW pushed hard to get Bernadette non-nominated for Into the Woods (an embarrassment, clearly), which led to Joanna Gleason's victory (which was, in my opinion, well-deserved). Enjoy listening to her clear nasally voice all you want. I'm not the only one who realizes that nepotism, not talent, got her where she is today.

Sarah Brightman is incredibly overrated, her nasal higher register is just weak. And this song, though it has some pretty moments, is overall another ho-hum Webber ditty (and the lyrics are, as usual poor since they are written to match the melody, rather than the other way around); at least Bernadette performs it well...

you do realize that SB wouldn't have been popular had she not married Andrew Lloyd Webber. I, personally, like many sopranos that would be considered the same "style" (Barbara Cook, for example), it's just that those sopranos have far better voices than this nasal bore. Yawn...

Sarah has an amazing voice, no-one would or could deny that but I prefer Bernadette's performance anyway because the emotion is incredible. Sarah's got an absolutely BEAUTIFUL voice, she's this gorgeous and lovely bright soprano tone to it :) wheras Bernadette Peter's gives an AMAZING performance, she puts so much expression in it and really tells the story nt just singing the song- her rhythm is so creative.
