@29jaywalker As a standard EPOC supports detection of 4 different actions. However, people reported detecting 8 by running two instances of the application with different settings. The biggest challenge is training yourself to produce that many distinct thought patterns quickly (as required in an FPS) and reliably.
my pads are black felt - you can make new ones with a thick felt from a art store or fabric store - the contacts can be cleaned with jewel cleaner and a small soft brush - the contact liquid that comes with the unit actually damages the contacts over time - you should use a light oil lubricant or surgical gel and clean the unit right after use---
@d0nrumata the contact solution-hydration fluid - that comes with the unit damages the contacts when you store the contacts in the case after use the contacts turn green - if this has not happen --it will in a few weeks
i found that surgical gel works and it does not make the contacts turn green -
using jewel cleaner is really not a good idea so you do not want to do that to often
it does however get the green corrosion off the contacts
Hi!!! What is better???? Felt replacement sensors or EPOC hydrator pack because I don't know what to buy in order to have replacement sensors. What is your recomendation?? Thanks
@pepepaco20 What is the problem you are trying to solve? We have not needed a replacement yet so probably best to ask on the Emotiv forum, people there are very helpful.
I thought of buying it from ebay.. which I desisted from this unboxing :o when no CD appeared... being in Southamerica and very little funding gets things harder to play with, Emotiv is even forcing me to buy the SDK and the headset sepparately. Yeh, but now that I remember it would've been just for the amusement.. man, it was such a dissapointment when I heard the 'vitruvian control' for emotiv was somehow scraped, would've been such a revolution... O.o
@TheChanclasVerdes I don't quite understand. You buy the headset and the SDK together (for $500US - developer version). No need for a CD, you just download it. And what vitruvian control are you referring to?
@d0nrumata O.o Yeh, I got things messed up months ago in the emotiv store and thougth I had to buy the SDK and the headset appart, I've checked again, now I've read everything more careful.. uff.. thanks. Yet I would've bought it just for the novelty and that 'vitruvian control' was an application for 3rd person games, I remember reading of it in the forums... or maybe my mind is playing tricks on me again... o.O
@TheChanclasVerdes There is a small demo game that you can play with the headset but it is a demo, just about 10 minutes of simple gameplay. However, you can use the EmoKey application that comes with the SDK to assign keystrokes to the commands from the headset and play any game or use any application you want.
@TheChanclasVerdes Yes, there's no physical CD in the box. You download the headset software (Control Panel, SDK) and applications from the emotiv.com. EmoKey and the Gyro Mouse Emulator comes with the Control Panel/SDK.
Could you map out all of the movements and actions of let's say... A modern fps like battlefield 3?

@ThoughtWiredNZ how much was it? how easy is it to make independent software using an sdk? is the sdk open source, free, etc?
TheRetchin 1 month ago
@TheRetchin Check emotiv.com for the up-tp-date pricing. SDK is not free but fairly easy to get started with.

@FSK1138 I thought it's not recommended to use any kind of brush because you might damage the contacts... How has that worked out for you? Thanks.
