I agree, and being the guy who wrote the song, my opinion actually counts :P this song could've worked with clean vocals, but personally, I thought it would've sounded way pop-y then. The growling gives it a certain... charm, while the rest of the song appeals to a larger audience. It's like, light-weight metal, for the people.
