  • I love you. You're my hero. xD

  • nice!

  • i have a problem i want to animate the char and i need to lift him up but i need the legs to stay on the ground and the bone tool wont allow to pick him up or move more than 1 limb at a time help pls

  • Nice video, now all I need is cs4 or higher to hop in on the fun.

  • That was great!

  • sensationell - many thanks for creating and loading such a tutorial

  • The way you do it is soooo coooool ! I watched all the tutorials...I love the mistakes cause those are exactly the ones that i was struggling with and could identify with all of those...and what more...you solve each problem as it arises ! Thanks mate and God bless you!

  • What a good tutorial! The best I've seen. Thanks for share. The problems in the development are really useful! I feel like doing it myself and the problems that could you get doing something with a new software tool. No doubts! Thanks for your time!!

  • really helped me, thanks!!!!

  • Smashing!

Very very good stuff, the best hands on tutorial, and problem solving which is far away from boring coz it makes the viewers to be part of the whole process.

    Thanx a lot Dude

  • hey guys,

how for christs sake do i import a photoshop file

based on a picture in flash to use the bone tool on it.

i keeps sayin: CANT CONNECT BITMAP!?!?!?

    so what should do?!

  • It has been explained in part two: in photoshop go to file, scripts, export layers to files from there check visible leyer, file type JEPG, and check all. Hope this will help!

  • I drawed the pivot points in flash using the shape tool then i converted it to symbol.... I was wondering if there is any way to make them transparent... so they do not show up when i try to animate...

  • By far the best tutorial on setting up the IK joints in Flash. Thank you so much.

  • I appreciate you doing this. Thanks

  • Thanks for these. I use the bone tool very diferently, within single movie clips, Legs, arms,Etc. But these really opened a few doors. Maybe Adobe will address some of the layer stacking probs you highlighted here in an update. Thanks again. 5 Stars.

  • UR A GENIUS! thank you so much, now i m back in the business ;)

  • it was helpful ^^

  • most of it i figured out by my self and it did take an hours, but i also learned very much from u, and u shouldn't think about how to make shorter tuts, i liked it just as it was: full of details Thanks

  • Thanks for a great tutorial, you cover all the non-obvious stuff that most tutorials miss.

  • Bravo! Thank you.

  • Thank you *very much* for these tutorial videos. Really helpfull, indeed saved me a lot of time!

    Greetings from Brazil.

  • NIce work! It will be interesting to see if the bone tool generates a whole lot of not very nice puppetty-looking, cut-out animation. It's a look, but it gets pretty old very fast. I wonder if people will discover new looks with this.

  • Thanks very much for the huge effort you have put in to helping others my friend. Greatly appreciated and very well presented.

  • Thanks for the videos...it'd be great if you could make a tutorial animating him, though.

  • Thanks for the great tutorial :) It was extremely helpful. I shall now go try out everything I learned here hehe ^^ Thanks.

  • thanks for the tute m8! hoping u cud make more tutes to animate him for us

  • thank you so much this tutorial was so helpful!

  • Rightclick > Arrange > Bring to Front

  • this makes animation easier but does anybody know if you grab the anchor joint if the whole skeleton will react in kind? this doesn't seem like true IK. More like an IK/FK hybrid.

  • Cool, this answered a lot of problems I was having about rigging.

  • thanks for this tutorial

    helped me out a lot

  • Great tutorial! Answered some questions for sure... Strange thing that Adobe creat something thats not 100% developed...Anyway... cool stuff. Thanks

  • perfectionist ?... nah i think a mild case of ocd...lol... i appreciate your tutorial though... 6 videos..lmao... i honestly wouldnt cared enough to make 1... so thanks, very informational and i dont even use'n the bone tool...lol

  • This helped me so much, you should make another tutorial focusing on the angle limits, for realistic elbow joints etc.

Also, what do you do about the black dot pivot points you created?

  • I can't move bone pivot points either...it just doesn't work..

  • Does Flash allow for "constraints"?

A means to limit the amount of rotation at individual joints?

  • yes

  • It's in the properties panel when you have the bone joint selected.

  • Thanks, designminstrel. It's cool to see the trial and error and how you work around things and figure it all out. I checked out your iphonealicious song and it's hilarious!

  • THX M8, REEEALY HELP :D

  • Great tutorio

  • good stuff mate, saved me lots o´time.

  • very good job, with lots of details, usefull for everyone. In this video the last step you didn't mension it's that you have to constrain the joint rotation (-90 +90 or whatever you want), at the arms and legs. also use the blind tool (Z) and pick the points wherever you need them.

  • thank you! =)

    Keep making flash tutorials!

  • Cheers for these, haven't got CS4 yet but I was imagining the bones to be one of the funner parts. They do look a little buggy right now and I can see myself getting frustrated over the slight movement in the joints and MCs when making bones (I too am a bit of a perfectionist).

Would like to try maybe making fuzzy-edged limbs in photoshop (feathered) and maybe double joints on the elbows(to stop that acute angle stuff.. Can you assign limits to rotation of joints or just enable/disable?

  • You can limit angles, It's right under the Enable checkbox.

  • best tutorial ive ever seen...

  • thanks again dude!! What's left is the animation, we want the animation man, we want to see Chris Paul dance ! or at least whatever else, :) lege

  • thank you so much for sharing knowledge

  • for a moment i thought you are gonna freak out ;>

    thx for the patient tutorial

  • nice tutorials keep on posting new tuts,
