The Udu on my far right is one of Frank Giorginis handmade No.#3 / Tenor Tiered shape Udus. The way this set up is laid out from my perspective L to R = #4 / Baritone, #2 / Alto, #1 / Soprano, and No.#3 / Tenor. Wishing you continued success with your work...
Thank you guys for your time in checking out what I am doing with the udu.
All of my udus are Frank Giorgini's. I have been playing his drums since the mid eighties. I am also blessed to work with Frank in promoting his wonderful drums. I will pass on your nice words to him. stay well and continued success
i have just recently taken to the sound of clay pot drumming and i would really like to learn on an udu of my own. I looked into the Frank Giorgini models you spoke of and i was wondering which you would recommend to a beginner like me.
I started with a traditional udu drum which is shaped like a tear drop. I was drawn to the alto size which has a very nice range from high to low. Frank Giorgini regards the alto size as a number #2. You can obtain his drums through your local music store that sells LP Music Products. The nice thing about the number #2 / Alto Udu is its size. It fits very comfortable on your lap when you create a void by crossing your leg. All of them that are offered through LP Music have wonderful options.
The Udu Drums that I use were first created by Frank Giorgini. He has licenced 10 different models to LP Music. You can check them out through any LP Music distributor. They start at under $100. and top out at just over $100.
I found these udu's at reduced prices at a place called vintagedrum dot com. I'm buying the Mbwata, even though I've never played udu before, this particular drum calls to me. Thanks so much for your sharing.
Thank you for your kind words. Like all musical instruments, as you play it you connect and then the magic starts. It is a life journey no matter what the musical instrument is... Continued success with your journey -
I highly recommend the Countryman Isomax II microphone. I have never had an issue with this microphone. It can handle an enormous amount of pressure and captures every little nuance. It needs phantom power. With any microphone you use with the udu, I highly recommend you run it through a parametric eq or a notch filter so you can control any feedback issues.
so sick!..love it!

Hm, if I had a DVD player I'd buy that tutorial, I wish there was a way to buy videos online through download like you can with music these days.
