So my understanding is that even though all the ships are really cheap your regular server character has to have the skills to pilot it in singularity? For example there's no way to test out all those giant ships unless you can already do it on the regular server?

@RuneScapeProBotting it's hard to explain eve other than epic. you won't find as epic an experience in any other MMO. there's consequences for all your actions in eve, especially things like losing a ship, since it's gone forever and what ever fittings you had are as well.

@peagabassi Actually there is sound in space, just that nothing in space is a good conductor of sound, so it is very very faint.

Its a vacuum. = No sound.

There are no molecules to vibrate and therefore carry the sound. If you were inside a ship and there was an explosion, you would hear it because inside the ship there is pressurised air.

@k0na801 Space is not a vacuum, that is a common misconception. There are atoms of gas that fill space, this gives it a very thin atmosphere. Thus a medium for sound to travel.

There are indeed gas particles in space BUT, these gases are incredibly 'thin'. They have around 10 atoms per cubic cm, they are terrible conductors and the sounds carried by them are way way way below the threshold of a humans hearing. We can technologically detect the pressure changes but you cant 'hear' anything in space.

@k0na801 Ahh yes, thank you for proving my point. We humans are so self centered in our thinking. Just because we cannot hear a sound, does not make it any less of a sound that we can hear! Dogs and many other animals can hear sounds that we humans cannot hear on earth.

There is sound in space, if humans cannot hear it without instruments, does no take away from the fact that space is filled with sound!

@canmoore I think this is a fair conclusion. However... the definition of sound is something you hear. We "humans, not dogs..." cannot hear 'sounds' in space.... therefore, for humans, there is no 'sound'. But lots of minute vibrations that a dog may hear. :p

@G0D666 seems like it would severely limit the amount of testing that can be done. Say there are some significant changes to capital class ships/equipment/weaponry etc... that decreases the amount of testers by a huge amount.

@JuniorDExchangecore every item costs 100 ISK.. only downside is if you ned ammo or sumthin, cuz u gotta buy craploads of that, and every ammo round or missile costs 100 ISK, so your spendin lots o meney. One trick to get past that is to buy the most expensive ship you can fy, insure it to the max, and then go outside and either self destruct it, or get it killed in a FFA. Easy and free ISK whooo
