  • "United Methanol" sounds like a gassoline company in Ohio

  • why not just do the left handed run with Ab, C, Db,Eb,F,G,Ab while playing the entire chords for the melody in the right hand?

  • @ManofChrist101 there are many ways to play gospel music but you have to have a starting point. most musicians learn the number system which limits what they can learn to add to the ending of songs

  • @Soundofjoy speaking of numbers, you never told me what the walkdown pattern was for black gospel 6/8 songs

  • @ManofChrist101 for me it depends on the song. I don't follow rules others may use since I work of the melody line.

  • @Soundofjoy errrrrrrrrr, i need rules to help me improvise,,,,im going to make a video soon to show you what i mean

  • Thank you Sam---I don't think I got around to thanking you for this video---It really, really helped me---(aka-lilfingers)

  • nice intro

  • Thanks to guys like you for posting these kinds of tutorials.

Unfortunately I got discouraged way before these clips on youtube.

    Peace

  • hi, i love the way you teach. I feel that I could learn a lot from you. I just wanted to know when are you offering the free gospel music course?

  • I play mostly with my right hand, bass in left, however looking forward to your fall course that I may learn chording with the left hand.

  • thats pretty tight left hand chording!

  • Kevbox, How can you complain when someone is doing something for free out of the goodness of his heart? If you want better than pay for Sam's personalized DVD's like I do. Thanks for all Sam!

    Carl

  • Sam is not and never "shows off". He is a true teacher and instructor in every sense of the word and believes in building a solid foundation based upon the actual way the song is written FIRST and then expanding upon that. Bravo to Sam!

  • Kevbox2008 is wondering why Sam like to refer to himself in the third person.

Additionally, I don't feel like I learned anything. It was like 8 seconds of actual instruction and the rest was Sam talking about how Sam does things and of course showing everyone. I'm not saying you need to spell out every chord. I just suggesting, if you're doing an instructional video, less talking & showing off and more instruction.

  • :) have you taken my music course yet? These are workshop videos for those who have or are currently taking my full course

  • It would be good if you put your site name somewhere on this page. It is great for marketing. I've been there of course, but some haven't...and they don't understand the reason why you have this video. Good Posting.

  • I included an address to my site in the video

  • Ya, you should always put it in the video, but don't assume everyone is going to watch you entire video. I normally only watch the end of video tutorials...If I wasn't a suscriber the only way I'd know that you had a website is if you included it in the "information" section in the upper right hand corner. It's really good for marketing.

  • I don't think your teaching style will be compatible with the way I learn.

  • I'm always open to different approaches to learnng music. . Can you elaborate on how you learn songs?

  • Excellent clip Mr. Tolbert!!! Remain blessed.
