@Ninjassassin487 Maybe try a reboot with it left plugged in the usb port, and see if that does anything. if that doesn't work. It may be defective. (The USB cable that is) or possibly mp3 players port
@Ninjassassin487 Hmm that's strange. I don't have mine anymore. I now have a Sandisk. But I could still possibly help you out. Are you sure the usb port that you are plugging it into is not dead?
@ Both Cartuner555 & Mr41090 All was fine for me with it, Until the internal Hard-Drive started making an electronic buzz every once in a while through my head phones. When listening to an mp3. I pretty much have discarded mine now. I'm aiming to get me another "Sandisk 4 GB" with external micro sd card slot for expansion, mp3 player. Those work really well.
Can you organize pictures/video in different subfolders the S545? Like, different folders for different pictures? Also, can the S545 play animated GIF files? And is it possible to charge the S545 while using it (EG charging it while listening to music, watching videos)
@MilesRoseProductions 1st question, Organizing yr folders: The only way I can think of is to name a folder under a "Genre Name", such as "Rock". Copy and past all of yr "Rock Mp3's" into that one folder on yr computer. Than transfer the "Rock Genre" folder onto the unit. 2nd question: I have never tried an animated .GIF file on it. So I don't know on that one. Final and 3rd question: is "No". You cannot operate it while it is in charging mode :( Sorry it took me a while to reply back.
I just received the S545 from US and I compared the volume vs the latest European click-wheel iPod Nano (5g). The S545 was clearly louder. Before I also tested the Nano vs the latest Walkman model in my country in Europe, the A845 and the Nano was louder.
So I answered my own question. US Walkmans produce more sound than European Walkmans.
I have to get used creating Playlists on Content Transfer, kinda hard to use. I'm still using iTunes to back it up on my computer.
@hoody232 That's good to know. However I never use iTunes Media Player anymore for anything. Everytime I fire up iTunes it takes years to start up. But that's just my opinion. It does have good sound tweaking options on it though.
@Oddball21Airborne Battery Life for music is pretty decent. But it depends on what bit-rate the mp3 is encoded at e.g. 128kbps to max 320kbps. mp3 bit rate. The higher the bit-rate of the mp3, the better the quality and the more battery life it sucks up out of the walkman. That's according to the .pdf file manual on the walkman.
How do you change the battery on this thing? Or buy one, rather, then change it...
I've had mine for over a year, it gave me shit a few months into it (shutting down on me at randommoments) but it worked fine after a few weeks.... now, it's been fucking with me, and now it's just not turning on. Goes to the loading screen, then it freezes for a second, and turns off. Comp won't recognize it.... I'd about ready to put this thing through a woodchipper.
@demon91 When you plug it into your pc it's supposed to recognize it, and when it does recognize it, it starts charging via usb connectivity. It should say "Charging" on the walkman screen whenever you plug it into yr usb port. However, it sounds like yours is pretty messed up. Mine is starting to make an unwanted noise here and there when listening to my mp3's on it. I've only had mine for a year myself. I've gone back to my sony 1 GB MP3 Player which is a flash player. It still works.
Yeah, it did that, but the computer itself never recognized (and I doubt any others would), e.g., I went to Media Player 'Sync', and it had the 'Connect to a device' screen to the side.
I hope that it eventually just cuts the shit but.... I'm either going to just buy a smaller player (and have to decide which albums I do and do not want on it) or just go back to CDs... but I spent entirely too much money on mp3 albums at one point to just not listen to them.
@demon91 Yeah. I hate CD's. I got rid of my CD Player a long time ago, when I hooked my pc into my home theater system. You might check out the SanDisk Clip+ MP3 Player. A friend of mine bought one and he says its pretty good. You can get the SanDisk Clip+ that has 4GB of internal flash memory and it also has a Micro SD Card slot which you can put in a micro card that has 8 GB's on it on top of the 4 GB Internal memory. You can get one for $40.00 off Amazon.com Which is what I'm gonna do.
@hoody232 Not sure. I'd like to think they're the same. If not maybe slightly different. If you plug the player in to yr pc and go to my computer open up the WALKMAN icon. You can browse through the unit's folders. Somewhere in those folders are a manual for every language. These files of the manuals are in .pdf format. Not sure if that will reveal the answer to yr ?. But u might give it a try.
@Paul68595 Thanks for replying. I just bought the S545 from ebay. Seller is located in New York. So I will see when it arrives in europe. Everybody says EU has a volume limit cap on almost every mp3 player.
@hoody232 Ah damn! That sux! Yr welcome. Mine volume goes up to 1 to 30 max at high volume. Pretty loud and good enough for me. Also my older 2006 Sony 1 GB Bean MP3 player goes up to 31 on the Volume Level. I wasn't aware that Europe had a Volume cap on their's. But like I said not sure if the same rules apply for U.S. models. But then again EU uses a different voltage system compared to U.S. Good luck. Hope everything turns out okay.
@hoody232 hi i bought this player from the us and i can say with no doupt that the mp3 is loud compare to the other sony mp3 s i tested the s755 and the sound was low even at the full volume 30 .so you will enjoy ur music just fine
@jmac1334 Not too much difference, if you go below 128kbps which is o-k not the best, you will notice a difference in sound quality below 128kbps. But past 128kbps you really can't tell. Battery life according to the manual is 50 hours I believe, but it also depends on how you use it. If you're gonna use it all day long constantly, Yr battery is gonna probably run down faster within that 50 hour span. That's just my opinion, but if you use it for every now and then use, it can last about 4 days.
@jmac1334 You can scroll through A, B, C, D by holding the forward or backward buttons down, It will scroll thru the alphabet whether yr browsing by song title or artist. Also the battery life depends on how mp3's are encoded. If they have a high bit-rate of 320kbps, than it will eat up battery life quick. 192 kbps mp3 is good. Also if you use it for video it really sucks up the battery life on it. Up and Down buttons just navigate to what yr looking for, in song list or folders, etc.
@263josh You can either use the Sony Content Transfer. Or you can simply sync it with your Windows Media Player, and transfer music files that way too.
@furiousMgamer96 Since most youtube vids are in .flv Flash format. I have not tried converting that type of file. I know some youtube vids can be in, like you said .mp4. Which I have not tried that file either. The only file I've tried is an .avi file. And it does play it, once it's done re-converting to a .wmv file. However before you buy it, I've had mine for about 8 months now, and it's kind of starting to act up on me recently. I'm getting a buzzing sound, here and there.
@furiousMgamer96 So you might want to try and look at another mp3/video player. I haven't been using mine for a few days now. It's like a buzzing noise coming through my ear buds, when listening to an mp3 file. Really annoying. I think perhaps since the unit might be Hard-Drive based and not Flash, despite Sony's claim on there website, that it is Flash.
@ramirul You're welcome. I enjoy the advantage that youtube has to offer by allowing me a long with others to help those out. Any more ?'s just about this item, just let me know and I'll see what I can do to help. Take it easy mate.
hi, just wondering if ur mp3 has a built in alarm clock with sleep timer. i can't seem to find the function in mine. it was descriped as part of the feature in the sony website. thanks
@ckming115 Depends which one you have, Mine has it. I just cant find out how to change the time, Ive gotten the date down, under it is time and I cant switch to it, Good luck finding the alarm clock.
(part two) I'm ok with that but because I also read that you can't organize the music ON the device I was wondering....when you do the drag and drop of a single song, can you move it to the playlist you want it on, by using the device?
Thanks, you do a great and clear vid. Would love to see you do more hands on demos of the 545! :)
@lindasko You might be able to move a single file by going inside the walkman itself from yr "my computer" screen and cut and paste it around within side the walkman while its plugged into yr computer via usb. However I had made a playlist through Windows Media Player and transferred that playlist using WMP. Although when doing this, if you already have that song in the walkman and the playlist you're transferring into the player has that same song, the same mp3 file shows up twice.
@lindasko Also thank you for your kind comment on my vid. Right now I just have a Canon Point & Shoot Camera that this was recorded on. I am fixing to get a Camcorder soon and plan on doing a few more videos on electronics. If you have any more ?'s just ask.
(my entry is too long, doing it in "installments"!) Part one:
Great video, thanks! I just bought one but a few things I'm reading online have me worried, namely that it doesn't recognize mpeg 4 and and that you can't keep podcasts out of your music shuffle. Regarding the videos, will that automatically convert, too, during download? The other thing was that you have to create the playlist on the computer and transfer it over to the device.
@lindasko I only transferred avi files, once when dragged over it automatically converts that file to a wmv file. Which degrades the file a little more but you really can't tell from the size of the screen anyway. It still looked good. I did try a raw uncompressed .VOB file (DVD-Video) and it would not convert it to any format. As far as MPEG4 I am starting to have doubts on that. The manual states it can handle .mp4 but I have yet to make that one work.
i dont know why but for some reason you look to ahve ether soem chinese or asian in you idk but thatnks im thinkign of buyong a enw walkman cuz my NWZ-S544 cuz its not picking up on my pc nad its a lil buggy i may jsut make a custom os for it ::/
@Si3z3 lol I have no Asian Or Chinese in me at all. A lot of people seem to be having problems with this. I think it's a hard-drive based MP3 player. I'd probably go with a flash based MP3 player then since it didn't work for you.
@Paul68595 what format do the videos have to be? im sorry i cant understand the picture in the description. also can you tell me a free converter for it??!?!?! pls reply!!!!!!!
@Si3z3 ENG-GLISH PLEEEEASE! what does these things you said mean: ahve, ether, soem, thatnks, thinkign, buyong, enw, nad, os, jsut...... The only explanation for ONE of those words is OS which means Operating System. the rest in jibersh
@bossyprincezz Yes. As your listening to an mp3 file on the unit, press the "Option" button and it will show you a menu list on screen. Simply scroll down and high light "Equalizer" and click the play button to enter it. From there you can manually set or pick from one of the preset options in the list.
I've had mine for half a year, maybe a little more, and it started out working fine... the snag that hit was when it started shutting down randomly and wouldn't turn on until it plugged in for a few minutes. It's finally stopped doign that.... but now it won't fucking sync. It just freezes during the 'preparing to sync' screen. And when I look in WMP to see the files there, it says there are no files on it!!!
@SPYER23. I just go to "My Computer" then double click on the "WALKMAN" then "Storage Media" and just go into the folders and manually remove files that way. I don't think the content transfer lets you delete files through it.
The unit already has the software inside it. Just plug it into your usb, once your computer recognizes the device, which you should see it says "WALKMAN" when you're looking at your hard-disk drives and other devices in My Computer. Double click on the "WALKMAN" in My Computer. Once inside it will say "Storage Media" double click on it and it has some folders and files inside the unit. Double Click on Setup.exe to install the software.
It was for myspace blog, which I know I could've just uploaded it to myspace video. I just wanted to post it on youtube and embed it into my blog, and also for people doing a search on the product as well on youtube, for helpful advice on the product.
How do i plug it in that is what i forgot to can u tell me do u flick a swich or something.

@Ninjassassin487 There's no switch to turn it on. It should turn itself on once you plug it into yr pc's usb. That's how mine worked.

Los audifonos estan bien, hasta he probado con otros pero nada. Por favor dame alguna pista.

Can anyone help me with this?

How do you delete the files using transfer utility?
SPYER231 1 year ago
