@MrRyleebear I actually do only 1 stretch since I run with a midfoot strike. I actually just did 23 miles today and did the rolling pin before and after in addition to this one specific stretch for my achilles tendon. I have a video that shows the stretch which is titled Transitioning to Barefoot/Minimalist Running. I really don’t do a warm down after my runs other than the rolling pin occasionally if it was a long run. Like today. Good luck.
@TheRealSchitzo Those shoes are called Vibran Five Fingers. Some people run long distances in them. I personally do not. They are great to wear around in the summer of for walking on trails. I do run with a "zero drop" minimalist type shoe, but I need more cushion since I run primarily on the road. The shoes I run in are called Altra Instincts. Just Google “Altra Running” if interested. I’d highly recommend them.
@TheRealSchitzo Zero drop shoes are great for your knees since they force you to strike the ground with your mid-foot or fore-foot. The impact is taken off you heel/knees and absorbed by you calf muscle like we evolved to run. Try to run on a sidewalk in your bare feet. That is a natural running form. Check out my other video that discusses this.
I've been using this method not as a pre-run warm-up, but as a post-run recovery aid. Seems to work great at relieving tightness and soreness and speeding up healing and recovery, especially the day after a long run.
@theantiduck I wholeheartedly agree. I’ve not been doing so after my runs this week and I can tell. I got up this morning and just had to use the rolling pin all over my legs and it felt great. Getting ready for a 10 mile run today.
Thank you very much for this video!!! I just started running and have a weak leg that I'm working to build up. I notice how the muscles in the weak leg become "tight" after my runs. I think this will help alot! Thanks!
Chad you should have emphasized on applying it safely, as it is a form of torture! No doubt a very effective way to stretch muscles but it can be dangerous!
Furthermore, apart from using it for warming up, it can also be used to relieve pain from overexerted muscles!
hi, do you do any stretching at all, and do you do like a warm down after a run before doing this?

What kind of shoes are you wearing? Are they good for knees and hard distance running?

My fitness instructor actually recommended this, especially on my achilles to reduce my achilles tendonitis

Weird, but lovely effect!
I do about 65 miles a week road cycling and have found my calf muscles cramping out of the blue at odd times. Maybe this will help?

Chad, do you have a specific e-mail address?

@abuayyashaa I prefer to just communicate through the comments here. Did you have a question?

@calzate2010 I would say yes. It would work just fine. It's just more expensive.
