@SoulReaperW Actually, they dont drop through the water at all. It works well, actually. The only problem is that the water flow doesn't seem strong enough anymore to pull all mobs into the lava. Skeletons and creepers are strong enough to resist the current :(

Now that mobs aren't killed as soon as they touch lava they climb up into it and burn the loot. Also water isn't as strong anymore so most mobs can easily climb out

@omarrashdan100 He used "Bug boosters", but they are fixed now. Instead you can build some powered minecart rails and place them between every few rails and that will keep your minecart going fast.

as for if the mob decides to sink in the water and trigger the pressure plate, i got around that problem easily by putting a gate on the top half of where the mob's body would be, while the bottom half/ block is open to allow drops through... this way if a mob is down there, i can kill it at my leisure, but this has not happened yet...

Thanks for the tutorial, works well with me, though i changed it slightly to work around my base, but it still works... the only problem i'm finding is that spiders get stuck in the water system i made (cause they can climb) but yeah, it works for me at least, idk why ppl are saying otherwise...
