On top of that, scientists at the time, like BJ Mason who gave a Symons Memorial Lecture in 76, added caveats that "there's no basis for predicting...because we do not yet understand the underlying causes." The press, like Newsweek, ignored these comments and instead went ahead with a sensationalist story. Today's scientists are not as ambiguous.

People are trying so hard to rewrite this history. Scientist noticed change and tried to explain it they were wrong once and there is no reason to believe them this time. You say we know more these days and that just makes it easy to cherry pick the info to support your theory. All you need is a whether balloon to prove CO2 is not the cause. Greenhouse gases collect at a certain level in the atmosphere and if it is not warmer there then something else is going on.

There is an enormous amount of data these days and there are 3 theories as to what is causing it all with colored graphs to prove it. If they only listed the scientist who actually agreed with them the list would not be that long at all. Many scientist have filed lawsuits to get their names removed from that report.

There isn't one major science institute in the world that denies global warming and the best predictions say it is about 90% likely humans precipitate it.
