  • Thanks for sharing.

  • Hey, this is great! Thanks so much for putting this up!

  • can be do it whitout capo?

  • I've tried, but it is a lot harder. unless Jon Foreman has a secret way of doing it without it. it would either involve playing it with LOTS of barred chords or playing it in the key of D, which doesn't work out as well as G with the finger picking.

  • haha whoops! I was signed in as a friend, but that response about the capo was me.

  • pretty good thanks!

  • not too shabby. i think jon uses all finger picking which makes the intro easier and you get the shortened more staccato sound that he produces. it also makes it much easier to avoid the high e string.

  • btw... do you know what the chord changes are for the bridge? same as the riff?

  • It looks like you are holding the first fret on the G-string at 3:28 while playing the Em. If you are, then it isn't minor... but major. But I am just wondering what frets you are playing for that chord.

  • Sorry bout that. My finger actually isn't on the G string; it just happens to be over it so it looks like I might be. The only string that is not open is the A string, on the second fret. Sorry for the confusion!

  • Awesome... thanks! That's what I was thinking at first, but I wasn't sure. I figured it was the Em7 that you were playing.

I'm fighting my way through it right now. I had to go buy a new capo because I left mine at school, and I'm not so great at the fingerpicking parts... but I'm getting there.

You're doing a great job man! And I love the Mae cover!

  • hm... that does sound good... but... i dont think that show Jon Foreman does it. I remember when Jon Foreman performed part of that live at PLNU, he didnt capo. i think its a bar

    but hey

i think its great. thanks :D

  • whatever works. I've never seen Jon Foreman play it, so I don't know how exactly he does it, I just tried to do it by ear. Jon Foreman is an awesome guitarist, so it doesn't surprise me that he bars it. thanks for the comment!

  • You, sir... are amazing! Thank you!!!

  • OMG I love you!!!

    Please do more tutorials!!!

  • Nice! Sounds right to me. Try it fingerstyle, without a pick, you can get the arpeggio sound Jon does. Also releasing pressure with your left hand very slightly helps break it up.

Thanks for doing this - and from a pre-season #2 Buckeye, have a great year at preseason #1 Georgia!

  • Jack Walker, you make the best tutorials! Jon himself should play a concert with you if he sees this video.
