heyaa very nice video... i liked your work very much but id like to mention something @ 0:16-0:19 u copy the shape of the eye .... thats something i do not aporove xD imo each eye much no matter what be different from the other... so it can have its own identity... imo eyes show the true feelings.. and they must be worked in a special way ;p
@4biddenGR Actually I think that makes a lot of sense :) I don't always cut the eye, normally just to get a rough idea of the shape so they come more or less identical so I wont have two diff shapes, then I colour separately. But next time I'll try draw them both separately from scratch :)
@happykrazy nope doesn't come with photoshop (at least mine didnt) it came with a program called art rage (i think) but never tried it out well so I don't kno how it works.
@boektanasie thanks a lot :) ahh i'd love to draw something and print it on a t-shirt, but I never know which to print cause I keep waiting to draw something I really like and it never happens pff :( + im very indecisive
wow your artwork is so amazing i just got my tablet a month ago and i am still trying to use to it. my artworks is not as good as yours but i hope i can try to improve
@KiDD275 It should be really easy.. using a tablet is almost like writing on paper. And the 2nd generator Wacom tablets have a paper textured feel too!
@travisimoto@travisimoto Hehe thanks for the comment!! :D No unfortunately its not my job. This was the commissioned work though, different style from these: naomi89.deviantart. com/gallery/#/d2ozwrp :)
@HeyDreamer25 Well if you check google i'm sure you'll find a good in depth tutorial. But basically layers are useful cause you can go back to previous steps to fix and arrange etc. If you work on the same layer its harder2fix mistakes. For instance in this picture I have a skin layer, skin shade1, skin shade 2... eye colour layer, eyelash layer, lip layer etc.Everything is on a separate canvas - you see layers in prgrams like photoshop, 4instance jpeg flattens the image.Hope dat helps a litle
@entyceit it does detect the pen. When you hover slightly over the tablet you move it about the screen like a mouse, the moment you touch the pen onto the tablet itl start drawing (or clicking depending on what ur doing). so you move by hovering and interact by touching the touchpad

@airbenderairimi the intuos4 is better for everything as the bamboo only has 512 points of pressure (same as the old graphire4 series). the intuos4 has tilt function for the pen and 2024 points of pressure so get it instead. @SunshineTheHedgehog Hi, yes I have to look at the computer I do not have a screen on my tablet. It's like when you move the mouse on your computer, you look at the screen and not at the mouse. However, the tablet makes it easier to do things, and in time it becomes very easy to co-ordinate moving the tablet pen with what's happening on the screen ^^ it's not hard to use.
@yannicknaert Thank you ^_^ i bought the cheapest wacom cause I didn't have a big amount to spend hehe. The Bamboo One, but i'm very very happy with it :)
Most Bamboo tablets come with Photoshop elements. This is the consumer version of the real deal. So its alot cheaper and many options are missing / disabled.
@tnt12397 yes but that is illegal, but everybody does something illegal in there life sometimes, wink wink ,almost everything on my computer i have i got for free, i got the wacom bamboo and it is very good
Hey, i enjoyed ur video alot, but still im having some questions xD
See:
Q1: When using my bamboo, everythin depends on pressure, but urs seems to b different...or u press too hard..i got my brush on 300 and yet cant get those big strokes! Answer this one :P
Q2: On3:24-3:28 there's some kind of change on the skin, what did u do to get it smooth like that? u used blur? in any case, wich type, Gautian, Motion....
nice love the hair. im getting a bamboo 2 :D still waitin for it to arrive tho :( its the bamboo pen and touch comes with photo shop elements 7 :D what brush did u use for the hair?
Nice! You're going to enjoy it :D For the hair I just use the normal brushes with different sizes and then I makes use of the burn and dodge tool for some shadings ^^
Sweet! I just got the Bamboo one and its pure awsomnes! lol. I already tryed using it in some programs of Bamboo itself but i cudn't use it in Photoshop CS4. I dont really know how to use that pressure tool on Bamboo. I'd love to know how you use Pressure in Photoshop CS4
Cool :) To be honest whenever I used my bamboo with photoshop pressure was always automatically on, so I never had a problem. Im afraid Im not sure how to manually turn it on, but Im sure you'll find some sort of setting in the pen and brush setting with regards to pressure.
I have the brushes panel and go to brush size, then i got to Control wich first was Off and got that on Pen Pressure. Only, i ditn't work :(
BUT... It's alot easyer in Flash. There is just a butoon on the Tools panel. And Flash's got the Smoothing option wich is really helpfull for nice lines. I dunno if there is such a function on Photoshop but on Flash the Pressure works so.
If you like the smooth lines on flash you should try out adobe illustrator, since it is vector art all lines comes smooth :) Funny how it's not working for you in photoshop tough mine gave me no trouble at all :S Did you install the drivers which came with Bamboo One?
Not the Bamboo. The 'Bamboo One' is what I have. The 'Bamboo' is better than the 'Bamboo One' but they only had the One or the Fun, so I got the cheapest one - 'Bamboo One' lol. And I don't regret it one bit - i got off cheap and it works lovely. :) :)
Hehe, that's good. It does work lovely indeed! I love how you did the half and half thing. I'm getting the "Bamboo Pen", which Amazon lists that as a newer version of "Bamboo one". Hopefully with practice I can get as good as you! Would you mind if I sent you a picture of my first creation with it so you could.. i dunno... critique me? It won't be until way on in the future, but still
Thanks! :) Nice, I had never heard of the Bamboo Pen. Me critique you? Hehe I don't really think I'm good enough to critique - im self taught so i just dabble hehe. But I would love to see your work when you do it so sure you cud send it to me :) If you want add me on facebook Naomi Gatt and when its done u can show it to me there :)
wow this is really really good. just 2 quick questions. 1. how long did it take you to draw that. 2. would you recomend me getting one ive been thinking about it for a while, i am gud at photoshop but im fed up of using pictures from google.
Thanks :) At the end of the video I think I wrote how long I took. If i recall roughly 2hours. Yes I would definitely recommend a graphics tablet. Once I got mine I couldn't imagine going back.
Lol thanks. Yes just with the tablet. No lol no mouse-that would have been harder hehe. It would have been more impressive if I could draw with a mouse (i wonder if anyone manages hmm :S) hehe
I always kept it on from the beginning since the sensitivity gives the drawing a nice look most times so I've never looked for how to turn it off. But I remember on adobe illustrator there was an option in the program itself, so most probably whatever program you use will have were to turn the pen pressure off.
I was worried about that too. now that I have the bamboo one Im not even the least bit disappointed with my choice. bamboo one does not come with a stand for the pen, and does not come with as much software. But I had no need for a pen stand and neither any extra software. Fun has slightly more pressure sensitivity. But honestly I can't see the need for more. Im glad I spent less, got the bamboo one, and am more than content with it :) its perfect! - and no it doesnt lag or anything ^^
Great! :D I found deviant art to be excellent for tutorials. I've started using that as a search for art examples and tutorials way more than google now hehe. But of course google is always another good source for tutorials. Try deviant art though - you won't be disappointed ^^
I'm a photographer and I'm debating whether to purchase a Bamboo or one of the new Intuos4 (probably a medium). I'd really like to know what the difference is between the Intuos4 and the Bamboo. I've never owned a tablet before. Why should I $200 extra on an Intuos4 over a Bamboo? Just trying to gather some facts. Thanks!
Unfortunately I'm not really sure. I wasn't sure how I would go with a tablet so I didn't want to risk getting an expensive one and doing terribly with it, so I decided to test one of the cheaper ones out-only checked bamboo.I assume the intuos is better, thus the more expensive price tag - but honestly I can't complain about my bamboo. I'm really content with it and theres nothing I can complain about.I dont feel the need for a better one.Have you tried checking the wacom site for comparisons?
Intuos4 is far more advanced. It has so many amazing features. Just go to the Wacom website and check the videos to see the comparison, and then check a video or two on the Intuos4 on Youtube.
Hey, I have the bamboo One. Hmm, I suppose it'll probably work since all I had to do was install software of the tablet and after that I just used the tablet with anything - just like I would with a mouse. So I assume just like a mouse works with anything the tablet should work fine for you too. However, if I were you I would try and search google to see if anyone could give you a confirmed answer just in case. But I bet it'l probably work. Good luck :)
You will have fun with it I assure you ;) Hmm setting up the tablet with photoshop? If I recall I had no problem at all! its really straightforward :) Just install the cd which is provided along with your tablet and your good to go. Just use photoshop like you normally would ^^ If you still have a problem let me know. But I doubt you will :) As for the hair I was lookin for tutorials and DA n found 1 i liked - mainly I use the burn and dodge tool. Its actually really simple :D I love doin hair :D
Get one :) The wacom bamboo one that I have is a really good tablet in my opinion I love using it! And it wasn't expensive. Just if you get one I seriously recommend a wacom since when I got another brand just cause it was very cheap and I wanted to try out tablets, I thought it was so hard to use and thought that I would never get a hang of tablets. Once I decided to got my wacom bamboo I realized tablets are actually quite easy to get a hang of :)
Cool. Come by and say hi on my deviantart account (Naomi89) when you post some art so i can pop by and check it out :) Btw thanks for the subscription. Im always so happy when people subscribe I didnt know people would :D
is there a way to fix the sensitivity on it? because i got one today and i always have to drag the mouse cursor to the spot i was drawing on sometimes, not used to it...since ive been drawing on paper with pencil all my life
did u install the CD that came with it? not the art rage software. the installation cd for the tablet. Im not sure if theres a way to fix the sensitivity but there probably is. I just found it very good the way it was. and u shouldnt need to be dragging the mouse :S each spot on the tablet represents a spot on the screen - if u move ur pen to the middle of the tablet the cursor will move to the middle of the screen etc. u hover, then touch the tablet to click or start writing ^^ ul get it ;)
no i only installed the the installation cd and what im talking about is like when i lift the pen to draw every time i lift it the cursor reads the pen just before i touch the pad with it,so its kinda tricky cause i'm trying to get on whatever i was drawing on like the hand or nose of the character understand?
Oh :S that's wierd. If you have the wacom bamboo one like I do, I would think the sensitivity is programmed the same in both and I never had a problem with it. The cursor only starts to write the moment I touch it against the tablet so I don't know why yours is giving you such problems :D Did u try out the tutorial in the installation CD?
do you mean every time you lift the pen and move into a new position, the cursor jumps?
If so, this is because the tablet space is relative to the monitor. If you lift your pen up on the right and then place it on the left of the tablet, the cursor will jump from the right hand of the monitor to the left - mimicking the movement of your pen as it is on the tablet.
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you meant, but I hope it helps.
Super nice! I'm thinking of buying Fun small. twice the price of the one. Do this one have pressure sensitivity? I'm drawing in adobe flash, and I'm sick and tired of the mouse. And in flash pressure is good. :)
Thanks :D Well the fun has more sensitivity if I recall. IF you go on the wacom site I'm sure I stumbled across a comparisson chart. But yes the One does have pressure sensitivity. As I said the Fun has more. But I have never tried to fun, and to be honest I can't complain about anything in the One. Im very happy with it, and with the amount of pressure sensitivity it has :) and lol yeah, its so much fun to use specially after having tried to work with the mouse hehe :)
Well is the medium the A6 size? If so well you've got a larger drawing area which is good. Now the diff between the one and the fun is more software and better sensitivity I think in the fun. But honestly Im so happy with the One. I cant complain at all! SO if you'd like to save some cash go for the one ;) you wont be disappointed either way :)
Aww what a sweet comment thank u :) And of course I would love to work on a metal gear theme now :) Im dieing to actually - I just need to find the time to start one cause it'll take more time than these ones. Omg its HD - believe me it was completely unintentional - i thought it was coming worse quality than my other ones not HD! hehe :)
you are great ..

nice love the hair. im getting a bamboo 2 :D still waitin for it to arrive tho :( its the bamboo pen and touch comes with photo shop elements 7 :D what brush did u use for the hair?
Zalfuse1 2 years ago
Nice! You're going to enjoy it :D For the hair I just use the normal brushes with different sizes and then I makes use of the burn and dodge tool for some shadings ^^
naomigatt 2 years ago
ah k.k thxs also i looked at your pictures on deviant art and there all good :D

Thank you so so much :D

How much does adobe photoshop cs4 cost?
cheezymint 2 years ago
photoshop is ussally above 100 bucks :o
Zalfuse1 2 years ago
WWtuts 2 years ago
Cool :) To be honest whenever I used my bamboo with photoshop pressure was always automatically on, so I never had a problem. Im afraid Im not sure how to manually turn it on, but Im sure you'll find some sort of setting in the pen and brush setting with regards to pressure.
naomigatt 2 years ago
Yes, i just tryed. Only it won't work! haha
Anyway, THX and a lovely video!
WWtuts 2 years ago
If you like the smooth lines on flash you should try out adobe illustrator, since it is vector art all lines comes smooth :) Funny how it's not working for you in photoshop tough mine gave me no trouble at all :S Did you install the drivers which came with Bamboo One?
naomigatt 2 years ago
Lol, of coarse i did install the drivers!
I dont really know much about Illustrator but i'll try to find some tutorials about it

IS THIS SERIOUSLY WITH JUST A BAMBOO?! Like, not a Bamboo Fun or Craft, which I've heard are better?????
XiceyXglassXcandlesX 2 years ago
Not the Bamboo. The 'Bamboo One' is what I have. The 'Bamboo' is better than the 'Bamboo One' but they only had the One or the Fun, so I got the cheapest one - 'Bamboo One' lol. And I don't regret it one bit - i got off cheap and it works lovely. :) :)
naomigatt 2 years ago
Hehe, that's good. It does work lovely indeed! I love how you did the half and half thing. I'm getting the "Bamboo Pen", which Amazon lists that as a newer version of "Bamboo one". Hopefully with practice I can get as good as you! Would you mind if I sent you a picture of my first creation with it so you could.. i dunno... critique me? It won't be until way on in the future, but still
XiceyXglassXcandlesX 2 years ago
Thanks! :) Nice, I had never heard of the Bamboo Pen. Me critique you? Hehe I don't really think I'm good enough to critique - im self taught so i just dabble hehe. But I would love to see your work when you do it so sure you cud send it to me :) If you want add me on facebook Naomi Gatt and when its done u can show it to me there :)
naomigatt 2 years ago
Sounds cool! I don't have facebook though, so I'll add you on here?

Sure I forgot you can add people here :)

Just when I was thinking of upgrading from an Intuos to a Cintiq... I can't believe you did this with a Bamboo. Looks like I just need practice.
plazdiquehardt 2 years ago
wow this is really really good. just 2 quick questions. 1. how long did it take you to draw that. 2. would you recomend me getting one ive been thinking about it for a while, i am gud at photoshop but im fed up of using pictures from google.
01ashhan 2 years ago
Thanks :) At the end of the video I think I wrote how long I took. If i recall roughly 2hours. Yes I would definitely recommend a graphics tablet. Once I got mine I couldn't imagine going back.
naomigatt 2 years ago
WOW aha your so good:) aha youv Inspired me lol.

so are u telling me that you made this masterpiece only with the bamboo tablet?without the mouse?if yes this is great!!
baronealbert 2 years ago
Lol thanks. Yes just with the tablet. No lol no mouse-that would have been harder hehe. It would have been more impressive if I could draw with a mouse (i wonder if anyone manages hmm :S) hehe

i got the bamboo pen and touch for my birthday
skeezitzz 2 years ago
Do you know if theres a way to turn that sensitivity off? i kinda don't like it sense I'm just a beginer.
crunchcrunch5 2 years ago
I always kept it on from the beginning since the sensitivity gives the drawing a nice look most times so I've never looked for how to turn it off. But I remember on adobe illustrator there was an option in the program itself, so most probably whatever program you use will have were to turn the pen pressure off.

a question: should i buy bamboo one or bamboo fun? is bamboo one lagging or somethingelse or is everthing perfect?
ghan994 2 years ago
I was worried about that too. now that I have the bamboo one Im not even the least bit disappointed with my choice. bamboo one does not come with a stand for the pen, and does not come with as much software. But I had no need for a pen stand and neither any extra software. Fun has slightly more pressure sensitivity. But honestly I can't see the need for more. Im glad I spent less, got the bamboo one, and am more than content with it :) its perfect! - and no it doesnt lag or anything ^^
naomigatt 2 years ago
´kay thanks im going to buy it too
ghan994 2 years ago
i got bamboo one) and im enjoying every second of using it) do you know any websites that have drawing tutorials? (:
ljoha 2 years ago
Great! :D I found deviant art to be excellent for tutorials. I've started using that as a search for art examples and tutorials way more than google now hehe. But of course google is always another good source for tutorials. Try deviant art though - you won't be disappointed ^^
naomigatt 2 years ago
Love it...
waiting for my bamboo one to arive today... hope someday... i will learn to draw like you T_T
ljoha 2 years ago
Hello. Thanks :D Hope you enjoy your bamboo! Which one did you get? :)
naomigatt 2 years ago
I'm a photographer and I'm debating whether to purchase a Bamboo or one of the new Intuos4 (probably a medium). I'd really like to know what the difference is between the Intuos4 and the Bamboo. I've never owned a tablet before. Why should I $200 extra on an Intuos4 over a Bamboo? Just trying to gather some facts. Thanks!
terramar111 2 years ago
Unfortunately I'm not really sure. I wasn't sure how I would go with a tablet so I didn't want to risk getting an expensive one and doing terribly with it, so I decided to test one of the cheaper ones out-only checked bamboo.I assume the intuos is better, thus the more expensive price tag - but honestly I can't complain about my bamboo. I'm really content with it and theres nothing I can complain about.I dont feel the need for a better one.Have you tried checking the wacom site for comparisons?
naomigatt 2 years ago
Intuos4 is far more advanced. It has so many amazing features. Just go to the Wacom website and check the videos to see the comparison, and then check a video or two on the Intuos4 on Youtube.
0coldfinger0 2 years ago
Did you use the normal bamboo or bamboo fun?
And do you think it'll work with older versions of photoshop and illustrator?
Cause i wanna get one, but i only have the old Adobe software.
ZOMGamberr 2 years ago

Once I decided to got my wacom bamboo I realized tablets are actually quite easy to get a hang of :)

is there a way to fix the sensitivity on it? because i got one today and i always have to drag the mouse cursor to the spot i was drawing on sometimes, not used to it...since ive been drawing on paper with pencil all my life
jewishlilboy 2 years ago
did u install the CD that came with it? not the art rage software. the installation cd for the tablet. Im not sure if theres a way to fix the sensitivity but there probably is. I just found it very good the way it was. and u shouldnt need to be dragging the mouse :S each spot on the tablet represents a spot on the screen - if u move ur pen to the middle of the tablet the cursor will move to the middle of the screen etc. u hover, then touch the tablet to click or start writing ^^ ul get it ;)
naomigatt 2 years ago
no i only installed the the installation cd and what im talking about is like when i lift the pen to draw every time i lift it the cursor reads the pen just before i touch the pad with it,so its kinda tricky cause i'm trying to get on whatever i was drawing on like the hand or nose of the character understand?
jewishlilboy 2 years ago
Oh :S that's wierd. If you have the wacom bamboo one like I do, I would think the sensitivity is programmed the same in both and I never had a problem with it. The cursor only starts to write the moment I touch it against the tablet so I don't know why yours is giving you such problems :D Did u try out the tutorial in the installation CD?
naomigatt 2 years ago
do you mean every time you lift the pen and move into a new position, the cursor jumps?
If so, this is because the tablet space is relative to the monitor. If you lift your pen up on the right and then place it on the left of the tablet, the cursor will jump from the right hand of the monitor to the left - mimicking the movement of your pen as it is on the tablet.
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you meant, but I hope it helps.

Super nice! I'm thinking of buying Fun small. twice the price of the one. Do this one have pressure sensitivity? I'm drawing in adobe flash, and I'm sick and tired of the mouse. And in flash pressure is good. :)
Nuketain 2 years ago
Thanks :D Well the fun has more sensitivity if I recall. IF you go on the wacom site I'm sure I stumbled across a comparisson chart. But yes the One does have pressure sensitivity. As I said the Fun has more. But I have never tried to fun, and to be honest I can't complain about anything in the One. Im very happy with it, and with the amount of pressure sensitivity it has :) and lol yeah, its so much fun to use specially after having tried to work with the mouse hehe :)

I will buy me a bamboo tablet, but what is better?
Bamboo one or bamboo fun Medium ?
MoonAuge 2 years ago
Well is the medium the A6 size? If so well you've got a larger drawing area which is good. Now the diff between the one and the fun is more software and better sensitivity I think in the fun. But honestly Im so happy with the One. I cant complain at all! SO if you'd like to save some cash go for the one ;) you wont be disappointed either way :)
naomigatt 2 years ago
*oops sorry i meant is the medium A5 ^^
