what steps does it take to shoot at your level. what tournaments do you shoot? how were you found? i would love to become a USA shooter. please let me know.
yes you are rigt, thats´s an axis bow, the grandpa of the helix, it is a great bow, I see in your channel you was in Antalya 2008 , my son was too, he wins the silver medal in recurve junior
do you know Dakota? he's a friend of mine. nice job at '07 nationals! I shot it in salt lake that year, 06, and I will in '09. male senior barebow, Cameron Stewart
hmm, they do not shoot the best method by any means. all good shooters have a few same basic technical elements. they jsut shoot lots of arrows the same way and get results because they know their shot.
America is in a transition from old style shooting to a more efficient and reliable shooting style. it takes time to rebuild the structure of a shooter and get the feeling back to where it was and improve. just wait for america to come back up
In the wimen I have nothing to say, Koreans won almos every olympic golds until chinesse Juanjuan wins the las olympic gold, but in the males is a different story, they never won an individual gold in the olympics, and United States has 3 gold medals, 2 from Darrel Page and one from Justin Hush
damn cat stepped on the key board... i was going to say; On a lesser note; why in the heck would you let a stabilizers hit your nut's? Would this not force a flinch later in life, it not sooner.
stop being ignorant Sn1p3rSh4wn, like archerygod said, it just makes it more accurate, and in competitions you have people using the same equipment anyway so it doesn't give you an advantage.....
Why do you have so much crap on the bow? Can't you shoot a traditional recurved wooden bow? Or does it always have to be state-of-the-art to make it easy?
i let the bow hang, or fall after the shot because i am not holding onto the bow when i am at full draw, this takes out all chance of torquing the bow, which makes it inconsitant in left and right shots.
its not crap, you oviously have not shot a well balanced bow. the stabilizers and the sight help tremendously.
state of the art equipment does not make shooting easy, just it is better then a single piece recurve, much more accurate.
im in Canada and i really would like to know where to get this type of bow because i would really like to start shooting in competitions....so could u let me know where i can find a bow like this
you will find a couple new videos coming up of me shooting at the national championships here, so there is pressure not just the target, prepare to see the same exact shot as in blankbale. taking video at blank bale is just easier then at a target so i dont have to walk to get arrows
Very nice technique! Hope the best for you in the USA team. However I see something that is not very natural in your form: when you release, your bow hand is dropped down before the bow takes it down.
this is done on purpose to help balance the power of the shot, there is no pressure in the throat of the grip its all down low, this drop of the wrist prevents any movement left or right during follow thru to help facilitate stronger more consistant shots.
I believe that this movement is dangerous since you could have the bow arm to "yeld" before the arrow has released the bow, and so you will have not accuracy in the shot. I agree with you that there must not be any movement in the horizontal axis, but I believe the best is to have no movement also in the vertical one. If you are not applying any pressure on the grip, the bow should jump ahead to the target.
hey jake im certain u guys are gonna win the olympics totally have money on it! heard a crazy rumour u guys are shootin aerotecs n matrixes? i have 2 aerotecs so this pleases me!
yes most of us are shooting aerotec's and matrix's this is because we like the feel of these bows better then the new nexus or the helix. as far as the innos go, we are supported by hoyt and shoot their products
Why do you pull the string first under your face and then up again? Its much easyier to pull it in a direct line to your "end position". What means your trainer about this?
haha, it cracks me up when people like to give the best people in the country tips on how to do what they do better than, obviously, everyone else. thanks for the laugh NaloToxx
Hi there. How do you draw the bow now? I can't see the drawing phase on the last 2 video. Personally I find your pre-draw a little wierd. Care to enlighten us on why are you taught to pre-draw like that?
I was loking at this clip and can't figure out whether there is a differenc in your shooting technique from Jan-07 to Feb-07. If there is can please describe what it is?
hi jake! your bow is so quiet how do u get it like that! i use a fast flite string with an aerotec n ive tried adjusting the brace height for a couple hours today! i just cant tell the difference between the sounds! i know theres 2 sweet spots i just cant find em! any suggestions?
Hi Jake - what is range you'd recommend for 68" bows? I am presuming the 8 7/8" is the average. Specifically which limbsavers are you using? Where do you stick them in particular?
Somebody mentioned you changed your Helix to an Axis? What did you find in the Axis that's not in the Helix? Does the Axis prove superior than the Helix?
ur form is nice but in some angle ur shoulder is abit high izzit the angle make it high or its ur form problem? and wat scoring u can get for full fita?ur form is nice btw.:)
I'm still learning the method so my scores have not yet increased, but they are very consistant, i finally found a position for my front shoulder to lower and lock it.
Excellent stuff Jake, you've nailed the BEST method. It's a treat to watch these videos. Please post as many as you have :) Good luck with you shooting.
get a set of the standard dowels and put them in where the others are in the axis, mark where materail will need to be removed to allow dovetails to slide in and out of the riser and then grind it with a dremel or send it out to be milled
i just whent and talk to a Hoyt dealer and he called and said i could get the helix riser for 300 and the g3 limbs for another 300. then you add extras
I dont know what kind of hoyt dealer you went to, a helix is $535 and g3's are $550 I have a few setups that im working with right now, axis and aero tec and some g3's
This video is great. It is really evident that your execution has improved. It also appears that you have gained in strength. Your shot is much more fluid in the last sequence. Seems like the hard work is paying off. Keep it up!
i shoot blank bale at all distances from 3 meters out to 80. maybe 45% of the shooting is at 70 meters, definitely more shooting at 70 then any other distance
Just curious, is that B.E.S.T. as taught by Ki Sik now? I only have notes from an American coach on what he's currently teaching. In the third segment, you seem to draw about halfway before raising the bow. ???
Lloyd coached an olympic GOLD medalist... and had said medalist not made a dumb mistake involving illegal substances, he would most likely still be winning tournaments. Before Kate anderson started living down at the training center she was coached by lloyd. she was shooting 1400s... unfortunately she didnt have the time to go out and win international tournaments because lee has this nice habit of instantly changing form when a new RA comes down...
that is because she could be shooting 108+ in OR rounds, the olympics is about OR rounds NOT fita's I am disgusted at how much this country uses fita's to compare archers.
hey bro im not doubting the form and whatnot, i could never do it anyways, but its just so weird that the "right way to shoot" changes so much, you know. i mean, you shoot a basketball one way, and its not going to change; same thing with kicking a soccer ball. good luck man, i hope you succeed.
its cause i wasnt shooting the way the coach wanted to, i am now shooting just the way he wants me to be shooting. the video was just showing the progression of the changes.
Ok, the reason I asked was that it is rare to see the elbow of release arm shoot back so strong and my elbow only does that after 20-30 arrows with formaster. Another question, do you use FM for strength training at all?
nice progress

This is because the koreans do not shoot the B.E.S.T. method.
They shoot similar to it but definitly do not use backtension as the best method says

HI. May i ask u some question?
I read some of the techique from KSL Webs. On the drawing part, "The string must be dawn back in a straight line to about 2" - 3" below the chin".
But i rarely see people using this method? How come?
