Okay, I really don't get all the comparisons to Simple Minds. They're a little similar but Silent Running definitely leaned more towards a kind of 'Billy Idol' style punk feel whereas Simple Minds always seemed to have a more new wave edge. At least that's how I see it.
This is the only song that got any airplay in the US as I remember. It was on MTV's new clip show a million years ago. I did find the "Walk on Fire" CD in a second-hand CD store in Dallas but nothing else. I like these guys.
martybimps wotever ure name is,ive seen S.M. more times than uve probably showered,..I`m mates wi Charlie Burchill,i play in a Minds tribute band in Cork..Silent Runnin were a class act, every band aspire to & are influenced by a certain band..show a bit of respect..these lads shared a tour wi S.M...Have you??
feenoSM.A Minds tribute band..A good mate of Charlie.I was in the Columbia Hotel London in the 80`s talking to Jim Kerr about Sparkel In The Rain at the same time touring with TALK TALK .And yes i`m from Nothern Ireland.Still recording in my own studio and releasing albums.Lead singer Peter Gambel (Silent Running) at the time also stayed at the Columbia Hotel..Jim had time for a coffee Peter thought he was a STAR.Going to see S.M or Simple Minds in Belfast in December.
I remember Silent Running and yes they toured with Simple Minds and yes they wanted to be Simple Minds. My god even in their videos they thought they where Simple Minds.A complete rip off of Simple Minds. We used to call them Simple Running or was it Silent Minds.Just a very bad 80`s band....
First time I heard a few of Silent Running songs after Shades of Liberty album. I read that they weren't as good as first album, but from what I hear now, it sounds pretty good!
Love this song. Brings back great memories. Thanks for posting =)

If 'lady luck' played the dices differently, this should have been a hit.
