@dukeallen2001 I know what you mean. I was lucky. There are cars I have owned and cars that my Dad has owned that I would love to find, but there is not a good method for searching for an older car.
hey man nice job !!ummm 1 question i have a 85 berlinetta aswell but do u think i can change the front bumper 2 a 85 z28 with out having 2 do alot of modifications?? or is it a regular bumper switch job lol
dude one great job man car looks great and you supprised the hell out of her i want to do that for my mom one day her fist car was a 65 malibu convert 2 door im looking for one right now to restore and holy crap nice garage so modeling mine off that
@wccrispy I went with the factory color for sentimental reasons. I wanted to keep the car looking like it was when my wife first bought it. But, I agree with you, black carpet does look good on these cars.
@gangstapanda102 Good eyes! It is my first car...a 1974 Nova. I have upgraded the brakes using Corvette C5 components and have replaced most of the suspension using parts from Detroit Speed. I still need to replace the drivetrain and do all the bodywork. It is a 10 year project. Ha!
This is exactly like my 85 Camaro Sport Coupe, except she's old and tired and needs a little restore herself. No rust though. How much did this restore cost total??
@KathyReedTheOriginal You are light years ahead of us if your car does not have rust! I purposely have not totaled the cost of the restoration, because I know it would be way more than the car was worth in terms of blue book value. However, I will say that however much we spent, it was worth every penny! The seats are from a 98-02 Camaro. They are a direct bolt in. I just had to run a fused power wire to the driver's side for the power adjustment.
@ADOPTmeBITCH Why the fuck would you WISH that his wife would cheat on him? Are you a fucking re re? Does your elevator not go all the way up? Get some manners.
I recommend a dash cover, its a plastic skin that looks like the original dash, color and contour. It slips right over the factory dash pad.... take the soft strips of velcro tape, and put it on the contact points, keeps it firm, doesnt wear the original piece and looks factory!
This is her original car. She bought it around 1995 and drove until 2003. We sold it to my brother, and he drove it for a couple of years, then I bought it back from him.
@midnitesquirldog Good eyes! Yes, it is a 74 that is waiting in line for a complete rebuild. It already has 13" C5 rotors in the front and 12" C5 rotors in the rear, but it needs bodywork and a new drivetrain. The plan is to turn it into a 1968 clone. I have owned the car for 15+ years.
@laurence265 YES! You get it. That is exactly how I feel. I can not explain the feeling of satisfaction after bringing a car/truck/bike back from the dead.
i cant wait to do this for my wife, her 86 iroc is sitting down in florida, we are either bringin it to maryland or moving back to florida, but thats awesome what you did for your wife
only thing i think would be better would be stock wheels on it, unless those are the style she had on it, lol, either way thats awesome
Go for it! My wife's car was in Missouri and we were in North Carolina and I had it moved here before the restoration.
As far as the wheels, it originally had solid aluminum Centerline wheels that were outdated. It later had 16" IROC's on it, but they were in rough shape. That is why I went with the 17" ZR1 wheels.
yeah my wife and i are planning on moving to florida in the next year or so, but idk if i want to wait that long, her uncle is taking care of it for now, but its not in the best of shape anymore
It still has the stock 305 (LG4) in it. We are going to use it "as is" and may upgrade in the future. My goal was to finish the exterior, interior, suspension and brakes first.
Man its awsome you did this i have looking for someone that has placed the SLP ZR1 wheels on the third gen camaros just to see what it would look like and it fits perfectly on her camaro. again awsome work man.
If you meant I was considering purchasing this(YOURS) car, no I meant a car this model from a friend in the neighborhood.
What I mean by my comment is that I saw the restoration video from your video selection and came here to see you give the car to your wife and ended up commenting here.
Anyway thats a real cool thing you did for your wife and Im sure the car has more sentimental value and history than before. I wish longevity to you guys and the Camaro.
It helped that it was still in the family. I sold my 85 years ago, I'd love to get it back but no way to find it.
