  • I can't stand them!

  • Just something that has nothing to do with the scandal but... I really don't like the gray costumes... (Other than that I love them)

  • prettyyyyyy (:

  • Yeah they were gifted the world title in 2001 jamie had a mistake in the short but they were held up to third to give them a chance to win. Anton and Elena skated clean at that championship and the chaplin program was a masterpiece they should have won easily.

  • i remember yelling at the tv cause being canadian everyone felt ripped off. that was canadas medal!!!! but alas they were sooooo good about it!! this years team really bites though

  • what was the audience chanting before the boos?were they chanting "ten" "ten" "ten??

  • What a suprise, that you are from Canada. Maybee you also think, that Chan is the Best ever...

  • I love the music they picked, very beautiful

  • it is a borderline criminal act that Canadian and US judges or officials conspired to hand a shameful gold to this Canadian pair of Sele and Pelletier. As you all know, the French judge later recanted the original statement of an alleged deal involving Russians.

  • My vote goes to Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze (B/S), and there wouldn't have been any discussion regarding the outcome of this had it not been for a slight step-out. Still B/S is much more profound in their program and deliverance. The artistry and projection of it on the ice is much more profound and rather haunting and lasting than what Sale and Pelletier has to offer in its rendition of love story. Also the ice coverage by B/S is another aspect to note, which I believe is much more spacious.

  • S/P made fun of this sport and the real scandal was what they did to it... Both of them even fell in the short program...

  • A few facts you omitted here. Once the turmoil was over, the French judge rescinded her statement and said she'd been forced into "admitting there had been a deal" by the western-block judges and media. Her final words hold it that B&S were the deserved winners.

  • I admit that it was a perfect program, but it was an old one inthose days of Figure Skating it was imprtant to bring some new things it was a 3 year old program!!

And I liked the program of Bereshnaya sikharulidze more than this one, i was ok with the judges decision!

  • Agreed! People always talk about the eastern bloc. But hey, the western bloc is not any better..

  • this is my first time to see this program. wow, the death sprial was great, entering in a front inside edge. :)

  • anybody know the song theyre skating to?

  • Love Story soundtrack

  • muitooooooooooooooooooo bomm!

  • besides the incredible technical achievements.. this program takes the viewer on an emotional journey and it tells a story. one of the best.

  • I know, I still can't get over the fact that ISU fell for this hysteria. There are examples of much more questionable judging all around, yet no other team whined into getting a second gold medal printed. How can you award a gold medal with no re-marking? The marks had been out, and no one changed them - on what basis was the second gold awarded? It all seems very fishy to me.

  • incanto...

  • It was so pathetic and ruined the sport, but at least everyone got to see that the Judges had been scamming the competitions for YEARS way back when Oksana Baiul was able to win the world and Olympic title with 5.5 worth of technical merit.

  • You are retarded. Lobacheva and Averbuch sacrificed, LOL! L & A were a team who their whole careers only had one bronze at worlds, that which they barely won even, and the win Olympic silver and nearly gold and they were sacrificed!?! Their compulsories were crap and they were lucky to be in contention for any medal after those and they were 2nd even in those. Your whole arguments are full of shit.

  • Using "retarded" as a term of abuse? Excuse me if I zoned at after that show of intelligence.

  • You "zoned at". Is that your own show of intelligence, LOL!

  • Forgive me if I haven't mastered every saying in the English. The fact that I only started to learn the lanaguge some 6 years ago is at fault. Although sometimes I wonder why I bother since English speakers don't seem to be the brightest bunch of people on the planet and are often not worth the conversation.

  • Whatever, the fact is your argument is your overall argument is silly since L&A are in fact an overscored team that benefited from politics. There is no way they were sacrificed. They should never have been so close to the gold medal as they were, and the Lithunians who only came 5th probably deserved the silver over them. So regardless what the pairs results should have been, L&A were in no way sacrificed, they were in fact overmarked and overrated as usual.

  • Well you have to admit atleast the current russian pairs are not the best. :)

  • The whole pairs field is so weak nowdays, that it's hard to tell who are the best. Probably only Savchenko& Sholkowy stand out, the rest are equally lackluster.

  • Yeah I agree, they all suck. Very sad. This is probably the worst pairs field ever. The Zhangs are far overscored though. The Germans are not that amazing, and I wish they would skate clean programs finally, but they are clearly the best of the current field.

  • In Fairness...this would score bugger all in COP. The new system is so demanding. Hell, the only do a 5 revolution sit spin for the side by side spin here. The lifts are all level ones and they don't have the pressure of the one handed entry and super difficult dismount. They didn't have to think about changes of edges/positions in the spins, or change of hand in the death spiral. the sport is different now. Well never see beautiful prgrams like these again because COP doesn't allow it. :(

  • Yes you are right. COP has changed the sport completely and not all for the better.

  • Love and death always works :)

  • Why people are even debating the scandal is ridiculous since the French judge admitting that they made a deal with the Russian's prior to the program. I feel bad for both the Canadian and Russian skaters as they were not treated with respect, instead used as political pawns.

  • they could not have skated any better. regardless of the outcome and the media frenzy and the continued backlash from those that won't let it go on either side, they should be proud of what they were able to accomplish in such a short time. Both teams were caught up in the middle of NBC's tirade and both suffered from it at least at first. Both teams have gone on to bigger and better things now, all four are huge champs in my book!

  • And they're all good friends.

  • Celestial a falta de otra palabra, es lo mejor que eh visto en toda mi vida,, inspiran , enamoran, hacen sentir al maximo felicidades sale y pelletier :D

  • The only thing uglier than those sweat stains under Sale's arms was that silly snowball fight choreography and her incessant whining and infantile tears about having come in second. No sportsmanship or grace whatsoever! She fell flat on her ass in the short program, did she forget about that?

  • Can...anyone tell me what the other song is that's mixed in there at 2:15?? I've listened to the entire soundtrack from the movie and can't find it...though I heard a hint of that theme in some of it.

  • it's just sad to see shit like this go down. fucking piece of shit judges

  • exactly...totally agree!

  • They are both great pairs, different styles each. They were also both at the top during this time. But it was about what was on the ice that night. Sale/Pelletier did not only the "requirements" and content, but they performed. They showed us something more, and perhaps it was the program and their comfort with it, but it was no doubt the love between the two. This translated onto the ice and with the height of the occasion. We rarely get to see something like this happen. They really won.

  • which is the fucking french judge?

  • the skinny bitch in the giant fur coat.

  • You've clearly never worn a figure skating outfit. Those outfits are death when it comes to sweat. Some now get them made with underarmour material 'cause they were just horrendous.

  • she should have worn more deodorant. You can see the sweat mark under her arms in the begining!

  • En el programa largo canada supero los grandes errores de los rusos, hay que saber de patinaje para poder opinar los de canada la merecian, ya basta de la corrupción dentro del patinaje otros paises lo merecen . La verdad q

  • Sale/Pelletier are not even the 2nd best pair ever from Canada, let alone the world. Gordeeva and Grinkov are renowned even today and talked about often. So are Rodnina and her partners, the Protopopovs, even Shen and Zhou. Sale and Pelletier will only be remembered, if they are at all, because of the so called North American media cooked up judging scandal. Their skating itself left no legacy or impact and they already almost forgotten.

  • OK, then could thay have won with a clean version of their Orchid program?

  • Please tell me which was the illegal hip lift? I have been following skating forever, but don't pretend to know all the technical stuff. (I miss things like that and usually can't tell from TV if the skater is taking off from an inside or outside edge!)

  • In the rulebook :'For all pair skating lifts the partners may give each other assistance only through hand-to-hand, hand-to-arm, and hand-to-body grips. The movements (other than small lifts) in which the lady is supported by leg holds entirely off the ice are also prohibited and marks must be deducted" . The deduction is -0.1 in both marks.

  • Thanks for helping me, sunny.

It looks as though S&P always did this lift this way. Whether it was through ignorance (hard to imagine at their level), or thinking the rule could be bent or hoping to just get away with it, who knows. The thing of it is, this lift is a trademark for them. I'd like to think it could be done legally and still have the same effect.

  • Interestingly enough, I happened to watch Rodnina and Zaitsev's 1980 Olympic Gold performance today. Hadn't watched it in years. Dick Button jumped on them immediately for that same type of illegal grip on a lift. They did it again later and he told Jim McKay that there should be mandatory deductions. Can't recall if any were taken, but they had a commanding lead anyway.

  • yeah you have the best version

  • The love the resolution here!

  • Does anyone else agree that David Pelletier is the hottest male skater ever? i mean not just his good looks, but his gentleman like quialites and his goofiness. Did you see him act all crazy when they performed with Barenaked ladies? *sigh* David is dreamy

  • I have to say that I prefer Sergej Grinkov to him:)Oh..and Alexej Yagudin...hot as hell..
