  • This is who the band on the Muppets was modeled after. This and Dr Hook that is. And yes, a deuce was a popular hot rod back then. The Beach Boys even had "Little Deuce Coupe" as a hit song.

  • @cbabick i thought it was "douche" too. it sounds better anyway

  • It's not "douche." The lyrics are: "Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night."

  • The 70s decade was so cool but I didn't realize it until 20 years later.

  • Cool man, love his voice. I miss talent. Imagine if they knew back then people would become famous in the future for talking filthy rhymes over a recorded bass and drum machine.

  • It's pretty hilarious seeing the comments from people who are really young just now realizing that their parents most likely took a few tabs, then tuned in, turned on and dropped out.

    Gotta love it!

  • Yeah...this song is pretty much "ear candy", but there ain't nothin' wrong with that! Looks like the are 161 folks out there who are voting for Newt!

  • Blinded by the Light" is a song written and originally recorded by Bruce Springsteen, although it is mostly known by its 1976 #1 hit version recorded by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Source: WikiPedia.

  • hey who made this song ...these guys or bruce springsteen? cause im lost

  • man i seen a lots of good bands in the 70s at the midnight special had free tickets all the time living outside LA in marina del rey and mar vista

  • Es war 1978 in Stuttgart, als ich die Ehre und Freude hatte Manfred Mann's Band bei einem Life-Konzert zu hören. So lange her aber unvergessen!

  • I wish I was back there now, better times

  • This song is about a car :) Just read the lyrics

  • What are the lyrics .......like a deuce ? Inquiring minds want to know!

  • 161 people have oppositional defiant disorder

  • remeber watching them in germany in 70s great music

  • What a fantastic classic it is. 161 retards were lost on You Tube haha

  • The dislikes gotta be from the dead things of the illuminati.

This was made by real humans for other real humans & can only be appreciated by real humans :):):)

Love & peace to all my fellow humans (the very few left out there) :):):)

  • @2JAMMY Thanks we are becoming extinct..Peaceout

  • @mdelair420 Yeah I feel as old as a dinosaur. I hope being extinct doesn't hurt too much - I'm not very good with pain :)

If I should see you upstairs I'll invite you to a pint of nectar - all the best dude :):):)

  • @2JAMMY Thanks and take it easy and keep rockin on..Peace and hope you and yours are all healthy and happy:D

  • I was born in 1992 but I love the 70's and 80's

  • Born in 1974, remember this tune like it was yesterday =) Great song, LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

  • This song always makes me feel good it brings back great memories...

  • The truth is that even today there's good music, but its harder to find, cause there are more bands and singers which implies that the average music quality is lower. And also marketing plays a more important role than talent now, which is sad.

  • 161 people are "wrapped up like a douche".

  • @riktov They are also wrapped up like a deuce either way you are right lol

  • @riktov revved up like a duece*

  • @riktov actually it's revved up like deuce, and that's a car btw

  • How could you dislike such a great song?

  • Most of today's music is craptastic compared to the 70's and even the 80's.

  • This song is awesome.

  • i feel like i was born in the wrong time with all this Justin biebier shit and rap.

  • Haha. I found this by watching avatar the last airbender the abridged series xD luv this song now!!!!

  • I'm so glad I grew up in the seventies. I listed to real, good music. Not crap like Brittany Spears, Justin Bieber, nor watched ridiculous t.v. like American "Idle."

  • Love this song !!!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • these guys owned this song

  • 161 dislikes ???

What the fuck is with that ?

Fucking Christians, they hate everything !!!

  • I had no idea this was Bruce Springsteen's song, I never really knew who sang this version but I thought it was their's. This song/version is great, I guess that's why I knew of this version and not the other. Great performance I think.

  • Yes it is a MUCH better version

  • THIS IS WHAT YOU CALLED MUSIC,,,,,"NO PROTOOLS OR AUTOTUNES",,NONE OF THAT SHIT,,,,,,THIS IS LIVE MUSIC AT IT BEST,,!! GREAT MUSICIANS,,MY RESPECT TO ALL THE BANDS OF THE 7O" ,,,,,THANKS ,,!!

  • God If I only could go back to the 70s for a little bit I would be a happy man. I can think of a few dozen concerts I would love to see.

  • @lastwolflord That's funny I think about all the poon I turned down. Holy cow was I dumb!

  • @Longhammer37214 lol... sucks getting old and not being able to correct those mistakes don't it.

  • Seriously awesome and really the only version worth listening to.

  • i jizz to this and i am 90's

  • man people who grew up in the seventies had awesome music

  • @spud2ooo Yes we did, and how I wish it would come back. Talent seems to be so fleeting these days.

  • Original song by Bruce Springsteen, I believe

  • @jeffhurl hahaha!!! good try dude!

  • @jeffhurl Yeah but Manfred Mann made it good.

  • But MAMA that's where the fun is! I listened to the long version on my way to Montréal a few weeks ago (CHOM we all LOVE you). I can die happy now ;)

  • real old school...wow

  • anis curly whirly ?????????????????????/

  • remember listening to this one year...must have heard it on the radio 1000 times.

  • HE IS SAYING DOUCHE NOT DEUCE

  • In a lot of ways I'm glad I wasn't born yet, but it reminds me of a friend I used to have. To bad she was "blinded by the light" .... Funny hippie with pant suit lols eeek hahaha

  • Brings back memories. Like it.

  • This version is damn fine, and it obviously shows that they could play live extremely well. But the full official recorded version has my #1 favorite guitar solo of all time on it. And I have been a professional guitar player/teacher for 35 years. I tell my students that if you listen to a guy playing and find yourself making involuntary faces or head swaying, that player nailed it. Dave Flett's solo always makes me look like Stevie Wonder playing, after biting into a lime.

  • Interesting how all the naysayers on here keep saying how the song sucks and everything. Give the man some credit, he made a lot of nice coin from this hit. And you've done what lately to meet your mortgage payment and prevent the repo guys from taking your car back...? Thought so. Back under your rock you fetid ass wipes!

  • this old rock is way better than that of today

  • i like the tone

  • Putting the rollerskates ON right now:}YEAH:}

  • I think it sounds like he's saying "another ROLLER in the night". Does anybody else think that it sounds like "Roller"?

  • This is a great song, and i sure as hell wish i could be remembered for it. While it may not be your favorite, its someone elses so keep your negativity to yourself, and instead of stupidly watching a video you obviously hate, listen to something you actually like. Makes more sense doesnt it

  • THIS SONG SUCKS

  • @goldminer1957 this guy obviously knows as much about music as my 2 year old

  • This song sucks, they were such a great band that did so many great songs, to be remembered for this is a crime!

  • take me back in time that's where the fun is

  • revved up like a deuce

  • wrapped up like a douche

  • Classic!I'm a Bruce fan but this version is really better than his.

  • Hey! Barry Gibb was cloned

  • They were a very good live band, saw them at the Chez Club, Red Lion Leyton at least once. Never fashionable nor hip to like for some reason.

  • @Jlipnicki who gives a shit

  • @mrbrockpeters Its a simple expression meaning that something essentially good will always survive and come to be seen for what it is, the opposite of something untrue being "found out". I think its Northern, though I am not.

  • The Boss must be so proud.

  • @gwyntube The 'Boss' sucks. Manfred Mann is considered not even remotely as 'important' a so-called rock'n'roll artist as 'The Boss,' & yet Mann's version of "Blinded by the Light' is a hundred times better than Bruce's own version on his first album. That jackass 'the Boss' had no idea whatsoever what the poetic possiblities of his own song were & would've killed it in that pigeonholed working class soap operas he specializes in. It took a progressive rocker like Mann to give it wings.

  • 156 thumbs down? wtf all morons

  • @caat04

    Got that right

  • great song

  • oh man.chills everytime

  • BLOW <3

  • i WAS BORN IN THE WRONG GENERATION

  • @apeaape fuck yeah dude, same here !

  • This has SOUL! Enough said.

  • Yeah we know Springsteen wrote it,But,SHIT,this is a heap better version, his own is a bit LAME.

If you Agree with me Thumb it UP,or Who Gives a FUCK.

  • @2000tc88 ,,bruce springsteen version SUCKS,,,,,!!,,this is way better,,,,!!

  • @ericjurado6 Is`nt that what I Said.His version is LAME!!!!!.....

  • High school drill team did a number to this song. It was awesome. Great memories. I am 50 now.

  • Love it...love it.....So many memories

  • yep ...feel like i am in high school :) lovin it

  • a true klassik!!!

  • Did you actually know this sound is about a car. I would love for someone to tell me what car he is singing about. he says the type of motor if you pay attention.

  • @dean31384

    1932 Ford Deuce Coupe

  • @cmosco67 americanclassicars (dot) com/tag/32-ford-deuce-coupe/

  • @cmosco67

And Springsteen leaves Manfred Mann in the dust

  • @cmosco67

    you're so wrong

this version is so much better than Springsteen's

  • @you2besux like a hundred times better ! That idiot 'The Boss' totally stifled the poetic possiblities of his own friggin song in that gloomy, working-class grease-ball soap-opera milieu he specializes in. It took a progressive-rock band to realize the full poetic potential of Bruce's song in the transcendent, universal technicolor setting where it belongs. God wrote that song through Bruce & Bruce was too stupid to give it its due so Mann owed it to God to do a proper version of it. .

  • @cmosco67 Aint it great when YOU answer YOURSELF,and YOU`RE WRONG.

  • @cmosco67 only if you like gloomy, working-class grease-monkey soap operas ! Listening to Springsteen is a truly depressing experience. Like watching "On the Waterfront' a hundred times. Listening to Mann's version of "Blinded by the Light," on the other hand, is one of the few transcendent listening experiences in all of popular music. That's why Mann's version is a classic rock legend while Bruce's version went nowhere like it deserved. .

  • @dean31384 only the choirs is about a deuce coupe. hence the lyrics "revved up like a deuce, another runner in the knight". the rest of the song is about growing up in the 70s. I know all of the lyrics and I don't know any line that refers to an engine. Can you quote the verse?

  • @Thorgiersson

Revved up like a douche you know the rumor in the night ! Bruce says 'deuce' but Mann says DOUCHE. Just that alone makes it a better version ! Bruce was into cars & shit, a grease-monkey working class dude so he puts 'deuce coupe' hot rod references in his songs. It took a genius like Mann to change it to DOUCHE on purpose to make the tune really work.

  • I'm only as old as I think...I think I remember this very well.

  • Awesome song...on an awesome show!! Nothing like it before or since in North America anyway.

  • @MrSpooky118 Awesome, yes, but nothing like it? Did you forget about Soul Train? What about American Bandstand? As for songs, what about their mighty Quinn from 1967, or Meatloaf Bat out of hell or thousands of others that are equally fantastic?

  • @Thorgiersson With all due respect to 2 iconic shows, AB and ST were dance shows not a concert setting like Midnight Special and they played records as well as live acts. MS was just live acts. As for the song, of course there are tons of great songs icluding those you mentioned. It was just one person's opinion

  • Check out the pyrotech smoke burst at the end...and compare it to TSO's stage shows today!

  • This always put Bruce's version to shame!

  • @Orb37 Yeah, the Bruce version is good but Manfred Mann's version totally smokes it. It's cool to hear a live version of this too.

  • Vintage Flying V,...he ripped that lead. Such a sweet tone that guitar has.

  • I'd sell my soul for that Flying V

  • @mjw9363 I wish I still had the one I did in high school.

  • friggin awesome! I feel like I'm back in high school!

  • 155 people have been mysteriously deafened by the light.

  • Is that Kid Rocks dad?

  • @shaydyknight nah...but knowing your Mother, he could be your Dad

  • "wrapped up like a deuche another boner in the night"

  • I figured I'd learn the bit that he sings at the end, to add to my collection of "tricky songs I've learned the words to."

  • WOW!

  • Little early birdy gave my anus curly whirly, and asked me if I needed a ride.

  • thumbs up if you came here because of GoodGriefing!

  • @talkingwithgamers So there is a website people can go to to TAKE asshole lessons?

  • Revved up like a douche.

  • i love this track ♥

  • i thought he said wrapped up like a douche l0l

  • @dpkzpking In your defense, he pronounces it weird.

  • I love this Song!! :) Makes me happy when I hear it

  • wrapped up like a douche in the middle of the night... blinded by the light.

  • @macal2oni wrapped up like a deuce, another ruler of the night... blinded by the light.

  • @schristofersen reved up like a deuce, another runner in the night....blinded by the light

  • @schristofersen isnt the line...."revved up like a duece, another runner in the night" ??

  • @fixitdude74 I agree !

  • @fixitdude74 You are correct sir

  • @fixitdude74 your joking, right? of course it is, but everyone butchered it like that, however, those of us with a modicum of class can remember that fact quietly and with our rubbing it in everyone's face. but class is something Orthodox seems to lack. I'm sure he is anything but Orthodox.

  • Always wondered what Bruce thinks about this version. My guess would be thanks for the millions.

  • Classic music is to the soul as a cool bath is to a fever.....

  • I was goin 2 school up in Minnesota when I first saw this show. I remembered seeing this here, and first heard "Blinded By The Light"

  • This is just awesome! Takes me way back to when I was a kid. Liked the song back then, but didnt realize how great they really were.

  • !!! SEX !!!

  • I enjoy this version but the original is so much better in my opinion..

  • COCAINE!!!!!

  • GG

  • You never see performances like this anymore. This has incredible counterpoints and tempo changes. Now it's all about fancy costumes and dancers.

  • Is this Chris Slade on drums ?

  • With her bolders over her shoulder and trip of acid in the ground. Blinded by light revved up like one dueching in the river tonight. My god its endless the lyrics we can make out of this.

  • Manfred Mann took a big lump of springsteen coal and turned it into an all time classic. If you can't see it you've been blinded by the light!

  • thumbs up up if your fucked up on coke

  • wrapped up like a douche, ya know the mower in the night...........Manfred Mann made it way too easy to have fun with this song. Been doing it sinse it came out lol. Their best tune, and a superb version over Springstein's by far. Some sillicone sister with a managing mister..........lol

  • this is good man
