We were there about a month ago, at least the Ben & Jerry's and Chili's were open and the dunes were being reconstructed along Jamaica Beach. We;ll be at Mardi Gras this weekend, hope to get a gazillion beads since the crowd will be smaller!

Wonder if Flagship regretted those mermaid statues?
It was still in shambles when we went down for Bike Week 3 months or so later.
So far, about 40% of the island's businesses are back, but wow, so much damage. Only the reception hall where I'm getting married wasn't damaged.
