Yeah, the L4D sound recording sounds really terrible. I know you said it was a soundcard issue, but it may be FRAPS recording quality selection, sounds like a really low(like 8 kb/s or so) bitrate mp3 recording.

Yeah, I've since found out that Realtek Audio does not cooperate with Fraps. Really annoying. I'll be rigging up a better setup soon.

It's a problem with RealTek sound equipment/drivers. Basically it looks like I need a new sound card to handle it :( If you have RealTek it is more than likely the cause of the problem.
