if there is 120 led's , then is the led illuminated 100% , or is it illuminated 1/120th of the power it would normally be. because of how it would act like a pwm

Hi rroge5, Each LED operates at 1/10th duty cycle -- that is, if it is "on" to your eye, then it's actually on for 10% of the time.

i see, 10 rows of 12 each ,which would mean youd have to have 16bit output from your controller. am i right?
Actually, it's physically 5x24, with polarity switching to get to 10 "effective rows" for the duty cycle calculation!
