Sorry , this is not jazz fusion , he clearly does not have a jazz education , its progressive rock , He's fairly technical but has very little feeling , a vastly overrated guitar player , uninspiring , unless your 14 yrs old and don't know any better !

@IamCucumbers Im am relieved that you understand the basics of jazz theory and I'm sorry about acting like a know it all , I should have said that I can't find the emotion in john's playing be it fast or slow which is strange because I can with Eric Johnson , satriani ,Vai ,Hendrix ,Beck,Guthrie Govan and other guitar players that many people in here probably love.....there is just something flat, dull ..and unmelodic about john's playing to my ears!

This absolutely not jazz at all. I could consider it a solo with jazzy bends and chromatic patterns. Dont be that hard with JP, this is just an improvised solo over a designated scale. I know my stuff, I fuckin love Allan Holdsworth, Guthrie Govan, Shawn Lane, Greg Howe, Gambale and many others who are masters of Jazz Fusion, and I still love Petrucci. Tasting all kind of flavors is the way to enjoy music, thats all.
