  • damn that neck pickup sounds good i wish i had one but i have gfs 59 neck on my les paul. so i'm ordering the sh-1 59b instead. but i look forward to getting the matching neck sooner than later.

  • @drivershigh29 I've really liked it. I hope you enjoy your configuration once you get it all set up!

  • Yeah man I think that some more practice would do you some good.

  • @verdictjr lol keep in mind that this video was posted about 2 and a half years ago.

  • Everyone hates line 6 because they're insignificant and they've been told to do so. It's a good amp, it's just that those who can't spell their own names have been told not to state so. Good review, could tell you were nervous about responses, but don't worry about these ladies, you did well.

  • @van1980 thanks! :D

  • @van1980 I partially agree about everyone hating them is mostly true however, I think that the distortion/overdrive/effects are crap. Do like the clean tone though and then I use pedals for effects(when i use a line 6, I use a peavy/crate)

  • Hey there, I'm just fitting one of these and seem to only be able to find one single silver "wire" that looks like an earth wire in a white cloth sleeve? I just heard you say that they only have two conductor wires instead of four, but then surely there should be an earth also? Any help would be much appreciated, thankyou.

  • @shredicon86 eh, i honestly don't know... there are two versions of the pickup, one that has two wires (a wire for the ground and a wire for the pot) and another 4 wire version. Also, i had someone else install the pick-up for me, so i've never seen the wires on this individual pick-up.

  • @boredmanaic Hey thanks for the reply. I fitted the pickups (59 set to a friends Ibanez Gio last week). Turns out that it was a vintage single conductor pickup, as in one wire. The metal sheath around the wire was actually the ground. It was a really simple job, and resulted in the best sounding Gio I've ever heard, lol!

  • @shredicon86

The single silver wire you are talking about is the hot output.

And the sleeve itself is the earth wire.

  • Can you demo the '59 bridge pickup?

  • @The1970sInfatuate sorry for the slow reply, and unfortunately not because i don't own one.

  • @boredmanaic What bridge pickup do you have in that guitar? Is it a Custom 5?

  • @The1970sInfatuate well... in this video it's the stock pick-up for the jetking. in another video, it's the custom 5 i upgraded to yes, lol

  • bro i got a question. i wanna swap pickups out of my rg350mdx and i wanna put emgs in there. well my p-up setup is HSH and i have a 5 switch selector and emgs arent split coiled. are they? well yeah i heard that you had to get split coiled emgs or something idk but could you maybe help? would they emg's sound and function the same with a 5 switch selector? idk shit about setups and selectors. help me out pleasE?

  • dude you are killing that pup. I'm not pertaining to your playing. Get that tube amp as fast as you can...................

  • why dont you give us all a break by sticking your F'n head in the oven!

  • does anyone know of any videos or sound clips of the JTK30H being played? it is the semi-hollow body version of this guitar with the single coils.

  • I bet you've only been playing for a week at the most!

  • hello , I was wondering what was the difference between the SH1B and the SH1N . Is it like bridge and neck? because Im want one in the bridge prosition.

  • @JacksonShredder777 Sorry for the slow response, i didn't realize that all of my youtube e-mails had been re-routed to my gmail. Anyway, yep, the B would be bridge and the N neck.

  • @boredmanaic oh :P haha thats good , I though there wasn't any difference , but I put a SH1B in the bridge of my guitar . I put it in an Epiphone Sg Korina (limitied). It sounds sweet!!

  • @JacksonShredder777 awesome! yea, i haven't tried out the bridge version, but I love the neck version

  • $90 what the fuck? You can get a 4-conductor Model '59 for $82.95!

  • No more N words..the next person say that word will be executed on the spot..the new world order

  • Hey buddy long time no visit? Hows everything..you got more videos made?

I like your videos very cool/friendly no frills..Can you make some Dimarzios videos..Im thinking buying a new guitar..not another one lol

  • EVERYONE!!!! GET THE TONERIDER PAF!

  • @Mendelbrak Turn off the computer, you filthy racist.

  • @Mendelbrak Lol, I'm not black.

  • @Mendelbrak Ooooooookayyyyyyy im genuinely not black and i'd rather be black than you. now fuck off and kiss your confederate flag

  • @Mendelbrak go to President Obama and say that

  • may i ask what bridge PU do u recomend if i'm going for 59' PU as the neck PU

  • I seriously recommend the SD Custom 5. It's one of the PU's the SD actually recomends to pair with the '59. Another option would be the JB, but idk...i just didn't really care for it when i tried it out in another guitar.

If you want a video of that/ a better video of the '59, check back in on my profile tomorrow and you should find another video with a better amp. it would be there already, but for some reason it didn't upload right the first time, and i just noticed it.

  • Ok, if your interested, the other video is online.

  • well really depends on your style, I would go with an SH-13 dimebucker, but thats hard rock me talking =P

  • @J03L14 any will do. dimebag darrell used a 59 with his dimebuckers (which are WAY hotter)

  • noooo!! im the 9,999th visitor so close to 10, oh well good review

  • lol, wow, i'm kinda surprised that i've gotten that many views.

anyway, you might want to check out my newest review of this guitar because i used a lot better amp, so you should get a lot better idea of what it sounds like. it should be labeled as "Ibanez JTK1 Jetking - Seymour Duncan '59/Custom 5"

  • why didn't you just leave, clear your history and cookies ,and come back in?

  • Comment removed

  • you make due with what you have. there were no other reviews of the pick-up at the time, and having at least a clip is better than having no clip at all.

even on the spider you can tell a difference between the stock and the replacement.

btw, i am going to try to redo this review this summer with better equipment.

  • Wow apparently i have sobered up over the last 36 minutes. sorry for being a lil rough :(

  • it' all good man.

  • There's nothing wrong with this guy's tone. It sounds great. And if there was a problem, this would still be uncalled for. Not cool.

  • Whats the difference between a single and a four conductor in the 59???

  • it's two conductor vs four conductor. 4 simply means that you can do coil-tapping/splitting, and 2 means that you can only do a normal setup

  • I swear by the SH-1 in the bridge of my Epi Les Paul... way better sounding the stock pickups in my Gibson SG Special and Faded.

Seems like lower output = more tone, but this is one area i know next to nothing about... I just know what I like :D

  • The pickups ain´t the problem in a Gibson guitar, it´s the electronics.

Switch to RS Guitarworks prewired kits like vintage or modern then you´ll hear the pickups in a total different way

  • If you are looking for Slash's tone, you need to install Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro-II Humbuckers. That is what is used in his signature guitars. I hope this helps.

  • what pickups should I put on an epiphone les paul standard if i want to get a slash sound

  • im really not sure. this pickup would be great i think, but you'll have to ask around. im not much of a GnR person.

  • seymour duncan alnico II pro pickups

  • Alnico II pro. Good luck.

  • i have a bill laurence 500xl and for the neck im not sure if i want the seymour duncan 59 or the Tonerider Alnico 4 PAF, which is better suited?

i need something thats smooth clear, with some bass , i wanna play anything from summer of 69 to sonne by ramstien

  • eh, i honestly have no clue about the tonerider. I haven't heard of it. the '59 is pretty awesome, but you might want to even look at satch's signature pickups

  • is it good for skynyrd

  • i would think so. this is pretty much your standard, vintage voiced humbucker.

  • it's an Ibanez JTK1 "Jetking" it's the first model out of that series

  • which is closer to gibson paf pickups the seymor duncan alinico pro, 59 model or pearly gates

  • eh...i'm really not sure. i'm thinking that the 59' will be closest because i do believe that the pearly gates is hotter. I'm also pretty sure that the '59 is modeled after early paf pickups.

  • I mainly like the hard rock style of guns n' roses, specialy in sweet child o' mine, does that sound good with it?

  • i dont play that style, but it should. it's a good all round medium output pickup.

  • I would say the AlnicoProIIs would suit your needs better, has a rounder tone and slightly less output than the '59s...

  • very bluesy... nice

  • does it have a cover over it?

and would you recommend it(bridge) for

    an ac/dc, gnr, zeppelin, classic

rock type style? if not could you

recommend another type of pick up for this?

    thanks

  • Yes it does have a cover. Although, there is a non-covered version if you want that.

As for it in the bridge position, I'm not sure. In the neck, i think it'd be perfect. However, i have heard complaints that the bridge version is not hot enough, which sounds right.

As for what would be better, i'm not sure. i would definitely check out the pearly gates, though. ive got a modded one of those in my strat and i love it. if you want a lot of "umph," you might want to check out the jb.

  • Im really liking the sound its got a nice bluesy edge i love it. What about one for the bridge? Any difference?

  • yea, i love that guitar. well, for the bridge, i don't know. i have the stock super '58 in there still. thanks for the subscription btw! keep an eye out. i'm going to try to do a couple of videos sometime this or next week.

  • how do you think it would sound in a les paul?

  • probly about the same except darker. the jetking is a really bright instrument. very twangy. so just imagine this sound without some of the twang. lol that help? i would do another review with a better amp, but i let my roommate borrow the guitar over the break.

  • great review man helps alot

I wanna get a nice neck pickup for a bright yet warm tone

    this is on my list

  • I'm glad that this review helped! Yea, its a beautiful pickup, perfect combo of warm and cool. cool enough to have amazing clarity, but warm enough to keep it thick and nice.

  • thanks mate..

  • you remind of those jolly kids in the 50s lol!!! lol but seriously great review!!! Im prolly gonna get the 59 or burstbuckers not sure yet

  • lol thanks. ive heard good things about the burstbuckers. they are pretty pricey though. you even might want to see if there is someone near you who makes custom pick-ups to see if you can find something of the same quality.

    good luck to you!

  • Duncan PU is expensive in Japan, so these review is useful.

because F serial number's regular rg can be bought almost of same price.

  • Check out GFS pickups!
