Nice video... we are going to get a fleet of these at the end of the year (adding to the fleet of 41 CNG MRU / Heil DuraPack 7000s we already have). They are replacing our 15-20 out-dated recycling trucks with them. I'm going to guess that we will probably get the 3 levers instead of the joystick - that's what our 7000s have. We are suppose to be all CNG within the next few years.
Also forgot to ask, does your district have any 30 gallon containers on route? and if so how did these grippers handle them? The belts seem awefully loose (compared to the rapid rails in my area) I could see the belts slipping right off of a heavier 30 gallon can, wehter it be on the ground or into the hopper. Good news its its super easy to fish out a can from the hopper if it does fall in! Always a nice feature of a m/asl.
This'd be the first time I've gotten a good look at one of these, looks like an alright truck, but the controls set-up sounds pretty laim. Also the lifter appears to run sort of slow, particularly when retracting... I guess that's the cushioning affect? Also aren't these bodies supposed to have those radial crushers? Good size hopper when you can throw a mattress in there, handles bulk pretty well by the looks of things! Nice footage!
@MitchellM15 There is room for improvements for sure. I think Heil did away with the radial crushers and full ejection blades. In our safety videos they did show a few of these trucks in republic colors so there is a distric in the US using them
@mattthetrashman Our district is not looking to get them. In the past year we have recieved over 10 McNeilus MSLs, with more on the way, which could be converted to m/a sls. They got it just to try out
So let me get this straight; 11.09 tons for a 30 yd body-is this OK? No single, double or triple packs per cycle start only a set rate of 2 packs per "push" of the button. No interior cab operation of slow crusher?I noticed the packer runs along the top of the charge box sill.....that is almost deadly! Not to mention you would be covered in maggots in the summer and dog shit! Can the ejector blade used to crush the garbage 1/2 way through the load???
@trashratt 11 tons on a 30 yard body isn't bad but it depends on what material you throw in, like wood which takes up space. I get 10 tons on a 26 yard side loader to compare. This model did not have an ejection blade like seen in Heils video. They may have done away with those and use the telescopic cylinder to raise body.
Awesome, not every day you see a Zarn cart in BFI colors either LOL. I really like this truck, we have one here that is used for a semi automated recycling route.
NICE finally some found one is this going to be a RWS truck ? nice vidoe!!!

@3amrepmike3 Smallest carts we have are 65 gallons. Maybe the belt just needs to be broken in more

great video! Seems like the only way to get a nice grip on carts is to smash them.

@3amrepmike3 Yes you are right. Zarns are too thin. It was like grabbing a paper cup. I crushed a few and broke the lids off

@mtr82952 The Zarn carts are still everywhere up here in NY but most are getting in bad shape and being replaced by Ottos

@NYMegaMan Ah alright, there still are some around here, but several have been destroyed by the pythons.
