i can relate to this also. I had always been uneasy about being home alone but it was never a major problem. The older I got the easier it became. But then in my second year of staying at a Student house at university we were burgled/had trespassers in our garden with the intention to burgle. This happened 7 times in the space of 4 months, and it didnt matter whether we had lights on or security cameras. Now i can only feel relatively comfortable id I know the house im in is secure.
I went downstairs, everyone was home, but my brother was leaving to go get tacobell. I went upstairs, signed off of Facebook, went back downstairs, no one was home. I couldn't even find my dog. I didn't even hear anyone leave, and my front door makes a HUGE creaking sound when someone opens or closes it. I started having a panic attack, and crying hysterically. I have been afraid of being home alone ever since.
I told this in class one day, and my teacher made fun of me. :[

Autophobia is of being alone like getting oll and never getting married. or it is also fear of ones self and what you may or have become, like I dont want to be a social outcast...omg i am....
I don't get the fear of intrusion part AS MUCH, But I do get it, I just keep my dagger nearby. But I mostly just have the fear of not being loved part, and It's hell...Nothing is as bad to deal with as this is. Especially when it can fuck your relationship up with the girl of your dreams.
And my story, is that everyone was in bed and I was at my computer, and I heard the door opening, instantly I grabbed my Knife and rushed to the door, it was my brothers ex girlfriend whom lives here now -.-
i have autophobia too...I hate not being near people...I was once home alone cuz my friends mum dropped me off frum school, it was rainin....so i unlocked the door with the spare key...ate a hot pocket, then txted my friend and told her was locked out of my house so her mum would come pick me back up agian....
What freaks me out is when I'm alone in my room at night and I hear the house creaking. Also sometimes my vent makes these scary banging noises. >.>
When I was little I was terrified of sleeping in my room alone, because I used to watch way too many documentaries about ghosts on the Discovery Channel. So my mom or dad would have to stay with me until I fell asleep. :-P
I'm absolutely terrified of being home alone. I can't shower when I'm home alone because I'm afraid someone will break in while I'm showering and I won't hear them.
Also,
My dog woke me up at 3:12AM a couple days ago and I used to be able to get up and like... walk to my parents room to make them go check, but one time I got so scared I Froze in the middle of the stairs and what if someone came around the stairs and shot me.. So I called my parents and woke them up. :)
