these protesters just want to make sure the business owners money is directed their way so that they get a small percentage of money when the owner got dogs by his own means by they legal and ethical. Puppy mills is bad and bad health for the dogs in question but to say you start a business in an area and that local demands you get their local certifications and use only their approved seal of blah blah is anti business. So Im 50/50 on this.
You are wrong, inachu. We do not get one single penny from the conversion to the humane business model. All we get, is many lives saved--lives of dogs and cats and rabbits who were dying in our shelters. I hope that you will learn about this important issue to understand that pet stores should never sell animals from inhumane breeding operations. Soon, it will be illegal in Los Angeles. We are working on legislation to regulate this and it will pass.
Well then I hope you are right and then I am wrong but as it stands for someone not IN THE KNOW who passes by you could easily be those DONT WEAR FUR crowd protesting anything relating to animals at a pet store and yes you are right once this practice is stopped then also should ban teacup dogs as they are made from incest. incest is wrong no matter the living being. Its the same reason people get tiny. Human incest creates tiny people with medical issues.
We are against fur as well. It is a fact that these animals are tortured and skinned alive for fashion. It is morally reprehensible to sell, buy or wear it.
I'm glad your comment clarifies that the shop has adopted a humane model, but it seems irresponsible of you not to take down the video in light of the changes. The video is embedded in other sites all over the web, so not everyone who watches it knows the eventual outcome. I got my two rescue pups there, and I dislike when people have misconceptions of the place and try to start arguments with me. Thanks :)
You are right, but taking it down is erasing history. You cannot remove history, like it never happened. If it were not for the protest movement, stores all over Los Angeles would be selling puppy mill dogs and factory animals. This is a lesson for the stores around the country. What we can try to do is to change the title with the transition in the title.
ok, all the videos that I was able to fix titles on are now fixed. Thank you for pointing that out. We need to make some new videos of the adoptions there. Let's do that very soon so we have a lot of positive videos of Aquarium and Pet Center. Please write to the authors of any other videos and show them what I have done so that they might do the same. We can't erase history but we can make the journey better for the future.
The Aquarium and Pet Center has converted to a humane business model as a result of pressure from the animal protection movement. We applaud the store for doing the right thing and now, months later, many animals have been rescued and found loving homes from this humane store! Bravo!
How can compassion and humanity get such a hostile reaction?! Everyone ROCKS for showing up and doing the part to rid the world of disgusting, miserable puppy and kitten mills!
awesome, everyone rocks! speak up for the poor dogs & cats suffering. Everyone join us every weekend to protest this store because some evil person shot at us in Santa Monica, can you believe? We need support against these horrible puppy mill fronts.

Awesome work, everyone. I'll be there with you next week. Be sure to review this store on Yelp and give them a negative review.

Bravo to Animal Rights Activists! Right After this was shot, we got shot at by some pet store creep with a BB gun. That's a felony.
