The J10 is actually much better than the typhoon. J10 comes from IAI Lavi, the best fighter Israel ever developed. But Israel was not allow to develop these fighters due to US threat of withdrawing all allowances if they do. Then Israel proceed to sell all plans of this plane to China, thus the J10 was born. IAI Lavi out classed all planes in it's category when Israel developed it. I'm sure the J10 is the same, for both planes are made from the same blue prints.

Well, for technology, copycats are the terms for non-IT people only. As India is strong in IT, I think people there should know the term, reusability! Reuse is common for technology stuff.  Those designs are reused by many other countries. People just do not need to redesign the whole thing again as it is not efficient but I am sure you will see more new invention later.
