  • My favourite BCS, & that's saying something cause I love them all.

  • I can not get enough of this video! I think I even like it better than the studio recording. The are beyond amazing live

  • the wadsworth constant applies

  • "Then a big black car crossed our path, and I wondered whether or not that shit was empty..."

Funny thing is they're evidently riding in a big black car (Black Cab) while performing this.

  • I've just worked out that I've now watched this perfect performance approx. one bazillion squillion times. And it NEVER GETS OLD.

  • Is it me or Camilla looks slightly bored while playing? :)

  • i like my weed better now... thank you

  • Spencer please stop writings novels and go back writing songs. I need it.

  • Camilla has a special case of uber nerdy hotness.

  • i fucking love spencer krugs voice.

  • Isenseven's " Don't Panic" snowboard video used this song for a part, and made it basically an insane music video. Song went absolutely perfect with the video part.

  • 15 people are deaf

  • Can't fuck with krug. Sheer genius.

  • they don't need a fancy production, because spencer's songs are SO strong - anybody could perform them and they'd still be good songs. he will be listened to for decades.

  • I viewed this thinking "well, in the back of a cab, I'm sure it'll be awful". Gave me freaking goosebumps. A musician who can do that completely bare of any props or gear is a real musician, in my humble individual opinion.

  • @NoAntecessor Agreed!

  • I love this version so much more than the recorded version.wish i could download it.

  • I tottally agree

  • trumpet trumpet toot two.

  • the original Trumpet trumpet is good too. They are quite different though.

  • Spencer krug is the best

  • great lyrics! This song sounds so genuine and straight forward. I love it!

  • :D

I was certainly not let down.

  • Very good.

  • Wow. This is like one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.

  • lol is.. that... could it be...

    wait for it..

    a calculator watch? lawl

  • this spencer guy is really hot. and yeah, the song's cool too.

  • AMAZING. Also, it's kinda weird that my two favorite musicians/songwriters are being discussed (retarded though the discussion may be) in the same video.. or IS IT!

  • they aren't wearing seatbelts.

  • The first time I ever heard their music....my heart rapidly pulsed nothing but love for them. Their music is Artsy and it just pulls you in. You feel nothing but their passion. They are great story tellers. The way they put their music together is robustly magical. Finally, Something worth listening too!

  • @StarOfTheMoon32 The singer is in the band Wolf Parade. They're pretty damn good too. Check them out.

  • @StarOfTheMoon32 couldn't have said it better!!!

  • FANTASTIC!

  • They even sound amazing in an old stinky "black cab". LOVE THEM!!!!

  • Can someone tell me what 4 chords are played for the keyboard. And what voice setting I should use? Thanks

  • Regarding Assaultpredator

I'm relatively certain themes will repeat after you surpass the 15 year mark of playing music under one name.

    Either way

Apples and Oranges everybody, I love it all.

  • AWESOME + calculator watch!

  • his voice reminds me of isaac brock's from modest mouse. but obviously a lot richer. spencer krug is an amazing lyricist and i admire him.

  • nah isaac brock is leaps and bounds past this dude.

  • I love isaac, but he is reusing a lot of his old shit now... this guy is amazing in other ways, i like his lyrics. less narcassistic and more raw

  • I thought that Isaac Brock was a musical genius for a long time but he has no where near the musical nor lyrical ability of Spencer Krug. I think Krug implements so many aspects of classical music into his work but in a whimsical way that involves an almost orchestral layering of sounds. Brock just bends every note and still thinks he's the only person implementing a banjo into his work. I will say this about Brock though, he definitely is (or at least was) one of the freshest versions of a punk

  • i'm definitely gonna have to disagree. brock is the kurt cobain of our generation. his lyrics are so profound; it almost hurts when you really take in the emotion he puts into his music. as a guitarist, he's not the most talented, but he's one of the most creative. he comes up with the sickest riffs. modest mouse will be recognized as a defining band of the 90s/00s. definitely can't say the same for krug's projects.

  • What makes you think Brock thinks he's the only person implementing a banjo into his work? I'm pretty sure he knows he's not the only one that uses a banjo, he probably just likes playing it so he does. Modest mouse is incredibly dynamic and one of the best bands alive.

Isaac and Spencer are both incredible musicians and lyricist in my opinion.

  • you're a fucking idiot. music in not a competition, fucking idiot. you're opinion is the most insignificant thing ever known, fucking idiot. it's people like you that would ruin music for everyone if only anything you said mattered to anyone, you fucking idiot. love to think of what doushbags the artists would think you are, if they only heard you sitting around talking about music like this ... but what do i know...idiot.

  • @ratmfan223344 says the rage against the machine fan lolz

  • @basehead617 here's a reason why rage got big and this band is going nowhere. this band is ass.

  • @ratmfan223344 no it's because the general population is sort of dumb.

  • @papatia rage has more to say and offer than this band ever will, dude. keep making yourself feel better for your shitty taste, though.

  • @ratmfan223344

I´ve noticed that you have left similar comments on other videos as well. Music taste is subjective, let those who enjoy the music enjoy it. I know this has been said a million times to people like you but keep your negative comments to yourself, no one cares.

  • @ratmfan223344 I'm sorry...but why are you even on here telling the world about your raging boner for rage? The bands have nothing in common. For instance, you have never sucked any of these guys off, whereas you must have done so to Zack de la Rocha.

  • such fucking beautiful msuic.

  • this is fuckin good

  • NO ONE does it better than Spencer.

  • Such a great band and a great song!

I've seen them yesterday in Vera (Holland)

  • Spencer Krug was the main talent behind Wolf Parade. He can make a new band and be real good. Look at Dan Boeckner's new band, they suck.

  • why are you dissing Dan? Wolf Parade is equally influenced by Dan and Spencer. I agree with you that Spencer is talented but the Handsome Furs are good in their own right. Wolf Parade wouldn't be unique if Dan and Spencer didn't both contribute

  • While I much prefer sunset rubdown to any of the side projects or wolf parade, Handsome Furs do not suck in any respect.

  • fuck you, handsome furs are amazing!

  • NEVER!

  • He's got to be one of the best vocalists in rock these days. You can't really mistake Krug for someone else.

  • amazing song. seeing them in september!

  • Spencer krug showed up in Minneapolis and looked like he hated us. I still don't like spencer krug, but this song is great.

  • what a great idea,next time a pedal cab, down a cobble stone road, rooowds,wait.i want to folow u 2 round 2,rockonbonzo76!!

  • Is this (Black Cab Sessions) supposed to be some La Blogotheque rip-off...

  • wouldn't surprise me, La Blogotheque is incredible.

  • Camilla is so cute in this.

  • this is too good, makes me want to cry.....

  • He talks so quietly. And when he sings its like... I don't know, god appears in the form of a man?

  • i just saw them in seattle..it was AWESOME!

  • im seeing them next next friday, at lees place. EXCITED

  • anyone have an MP3 of this??? it would be very appreciated. :]]]

  • I have it off of their new cd Dragonslayer. It's good stuff, I think I prefer this acoustic version though... Both are amazing though! Buy the CD!

  • isn't the album amazing? yeah. i met this acoustic version. i think i like both equally, but I've been listening to this on repeat.

  • I have the mp3. I think I could email it to you (:

  • There new album, this song is on it. its so good.

  • Agreed many times.

Amazing hearing new album live in Paris.

  • Ha ha ha, what an appropriate ending.

  • amazing. as usual. (:

  • love dem songzzz

  • very nice, thx

  • ugh what are the chords in the chorus?...

i know the verse is Em C G

    then what? :(

  • I thought Spencer was a keyboardist! For Wolf Parade he always plays keyboard... This is weird....

  • in the song modern world, when it was recorded he did the guitar, and Arlen did the piano. weird huh

  • just 'cause he plays keyboard doesn't mean he always have to be stuck on the keyboard, eh?

  • I didn't know he played guitar, okay?

  • i know right - he's ~multifaceted~

  • Canadian, eh?

    HAHA, just teasing. XD sorry.

  • Very Cool! You should bongo the hell outta that song!

  • So, so fucking genius.

  • This video is even more amazing after you hear the album version. Hah. Lovvvvvvve Ittttt.

  • what album is it on, and is there somewhere i can hear that version online? thanks!

  • You might have found it already, but search Black Cab Sunset. One of the vids will just be a black screen that says something like Trumpet Trumpet II. Full version is fucking insane.

  • i found it and downloaded it. thanks for the help though! and i agree, full version is fucking insane :P

  • It is on the new album Dragonslayer that comes out tomorrow (June 23).

  • The song was good, but the video was like a even more rubbish version of vincent moon.

  • You're an idiot, dude.

  • hehe sounds a bit like The Mountain Goats. which is not bad. me like

  • love the mountain goats

  • This song appears on their upcoming Dragonslayer LP. Track number 6: You Go On Ahead (Trumpet Trumpet II).

  • i love spencer krug. he is the balls.

  • and the shaft

  • and the head

  • if you love him? why is he the balls, it's derogitory.

  • As in 'the dog's balls' as in very very good.

  • what did they end up calling this song?

  • tentatively called: 'you go on ahead'.

  • consider it all as a title!

  • Because only cool people wear them.

  • I personally own a calculator-watch and my cred indefinitely improved by 74%

  • I dont have a calc watch but I have a watch that only shows 3 leds at a time, and you have to decipher what time it is by what light is labeled what. it also looks like its from the seventies.

  • That is actually very cool, but does it tell the time and allow you to do sums at the same time?

    Doubtful.

  • just time and date

  • I hope the album version is as good as this performance.... the other live versions are must heavier and faster, which is great, but there is something about this acoustic rendition which I find particularly amazing.

  • this is the only version I've heard and I love it how it is

  • Same here, I fell in love with this particular version of the song. I don't want it to change, ever!

  • yes i do believe in spencer krug

  • i have faith in spencer krug.

  • <3 these guys so fucking much it hurts my insides

  • 3:20 Is she wearing a calculator watch?

  • I had never heard of Sunset Rubdown before! I just stumbled upon this video. They are truly unique!! Great job! Applause!!!!! :)) Peace, Kim

  • everything about this is perfect

  • Anyone got the mp3 of this performance? I've found a couple of sites that used to have it, but it was taken down because of bandwidth issues. If you have it, please send me a message! Cheers

  • Actually, never mind! I found it! So if YOU should like the mp3, send me a message with your email address and I'll send it your way!

  • i would like the mp3 please??

  • What are your top Spencer Krug tunes? Here's mine: 1.Dear Sons & Daughters of Hungry Ghosts 2.Shine a Light 3.I'll Believe in Anything 4.You Go on Ahead 5.Modern World 6.Soldiers Grin 7.Stadiums & Shrines II 8.Grey Estates 9.The Taming of the Hands.... 10.Shut up I am Dreaming...
  • shine a light, modern world, soldiers grin and grey estates are boeckner songs

  • i meant Krug's bands

  • krug is in wolf parade, hes been in it

  • krug = wolf parade, swan lake and sunset rubdown. I think he has done something in Frog eyes, too

  • oh defently has done something with Frog Eyes, and hes also recorded an album under the name Fifths Of Seven, with i think a guy from The New Pornographers and Frog Eyes, im not really sure who it was, but its really really good,

  • Montreal-based Fifths Of Seven is a trio comprised of cellist Beckie Foon (A Silver Mt. Zion, Set Fire to Flames, Esmerine), mandolin-player Rachel Levine (Cakelk with Alexander St. Onge), and pianist Spencer Krug (Frog Eyes, Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Swan Lake). that's fifths of seven.. i tihnk you are speaking of swan lake, because that is together with a guy from frog eyes and new pornographers

  • YA, ur right, swan lake is with pornographers guy, ya ya ya, thank you lol i knew it was some mixture, either way they are awesome

  • its destroyer....

check him out hes the shit

  • Comment removed

  • i simply love his voice..

  • I'm obsessed with this song...

  • Outstanding... But, god I wish someone would edit out that English dude talking, and the explanation for the song isn't needed.

  • :applause:

  • Amazing, brings a tear to my eye.

  • i simply love them!

  • Anyone heard anything about a possible new album from Sunset?

  • Comment removed

  • Apparently they're recording an album for the middle of 2009. but it could just be a hoax.

  • Nope, it's coming out June 23rd. Don't ridicule me, it's on their website.

  • called dragonslayer!

    yes!

  • i cant find a video for this song

  • just blew my mind!!

long live Krug & whatever Company he puts himself around!! love it all. thanks for posting

  • attempt to be like vampire weekend???????? wtf??? duhmb remark.

  • You are kidding right?

  • these guys were making better music than vampire's best music when vampire weekend were in high school! And im a vampire weekend fan.. So that should say a lot... What a dumb remark. Stick with nickelback and such, girl.

  • you must have only seen one Blogotheque video, vampire weekend, otheriwse you'd know this is basically just a new style in video for featureing bands

  • I'm familiar with both the Blogotheque and the Black Cab Sessions videos, are they both related?

  • This song = ^(*.*)^

  • hi i'm spencer i am in 5 bad ass bands what are you doing with YOUR life

  • i'm Dan Bejar

  • This guy does not get his due. Spencer Krug is very, very talented. The lyrics are always unique with Sunset Rubdown and Wolf Parade. Just saw WP in State College....unbelievable

  • give me your eyes

    i need a sunshine.

  • indeed he is. i met him a few months back in atlanta. one of the best concerst i've ever been to.

  • why can't i meet a guy like spencer krug? i find him so interesting.

  • I've been watching this video every day for the past few weeks. And i still find it amazing.

  • yeah its awesome

  • That was really cool.

  • ohhh man I wanna do Spencer Krug

  • what the hell does the drummer throw out at the end???

  • dude, does anyone know how to play the piano part???

  • im pretty sure it just follows the guitar
