  • I used to envy all the children who had the chance to go to Butlins. My parents ran their own business and we never went on holiday anywhere. I used to watch the ads on TV and beg them to take us - we never did. Wahh! lol

  • I worked at Butlins from 1967 to 1972. Filey, Clacton, Bognor and Minehead. The best time of my life and met some great people there but where are you all now? look me up on facebook

  • my mum luved butlins good video :D

  • my nan and grandad met when they worked at butlins in clacton :)

  • I remember visiting the old camp on a day pass right at the end 1982/3, I can recall that it was a special place but in MUCH need of reinvestment. The sheer scale of the place took your breath away. Clacton was never the same after its closure, like closing a pit in a mining town.

  • @accentnene very true my friend, a very good metaphor! These were good days when Britain really boasted good holidays and people gave a shit about one another!

  • Brilliant video, love all the old rides, have you any of the Wild Mouse ?

The 'health and safety' brigade would have a field day on all those rides now!!
