  • Lol, see what happens when you try to help.

  • Ya... if only I could turn off the "comments and more etc stuff. Oh well.

  • thats because they still use this format when you want to see comments or when you click on video's from your homepage

  • I'm attempting to prevent you from leaving the main page by accidentally clicking the video. What's so hard to understand?. Click Connections 1, 2 or 3, select an episode, press pause, click the link under the video box.

  • I can see what you're doing and it does work if you are on the main page.

The Problem is people dont like to think when using the interwebz

  • There is no scroll bar in the video, JamesBurkeWeb. So the instructions are not clear, yet. Perhaps Youtube isn't obeying what you coded in the Annotations or something?

  • The scroll bar to the right of the video box has 3 entries. That's the scroll bar, it's called "playlists".

  • Yes, on your profile page. But the video appears to say that a scroll bar will appear in the video itself, not on the profile page. :)

  • We love your videos, JamesBurkeWeb. We'll figure it out. :)

  • I altered the text. See if it reads better now.

  • Oh, I see the problem now. If I'm watching this video ON your profile page, it makes sense. But if I'm watching it in the normal Youtube viewing page, I'd be looking for a scrollbar in the video itself or in the video description, and would find none.

That's why I'm confused: it depends on WHERE you watch the video.

  • Yes, well soon enough that will be the ONLY way to watch it because it won't be in your "recent uploads" list. The annotation stops you from accidentally clicking into here, and nobody knows what "comments, related and more" means.

  • Well, don't worry, JamesBurkeWeb. You have many fans. We'll do whatever it takes to watch your great videos. Everyone I've told about your channel is thrilled to know you're here. And of course we all have, will, or plan on actually buying the DVDs: possessive we are, you bet! :)

  • It's not you I'm worried about. It's more specifically people who don't really have any computer know-how... or students in the 3rd world who can't really deal with an overly complicated design with too many buttons and things to press to lead them astray. It should be as easy as 2 clicks. I've got it down to 4... if only I could get the playlist link to not open a new tab then it would be 3 clicks.

  • Then try this, JBW: on your profile page, specify 'Grid View', and 'Playlists'. Then it's only one click to pick a playlist, and one click to pick a video from that playlist. I just experimented with it on your profile page, after first creating the Grid view by picking that checkerboard icon.

Yell at me if you want more feedback.

  • Frankly, JBW, the people interested in your videos are usually intellectuals. :)

  • Also, since there are about 90 playlists, the page would take about a year to load up. Especially here in Cambodia on a 20k modem.

  • I want to get rid of grid view. Those aren't playlists, those are video lists that can only be viewed on the main page. I want it to autoplay the episodes from beginning to end, in the comments area so you can comment, see related material and so on. NEVER EVER do I want someone to accidentally click "grid view". Then they will remain on the channel page which is no good. No discussion, no related videos no voting, nadda.

  • Okay, JBW, I understand better now. I'm not sure how you'll feel about my suggestion, but I learned it from a guy in Indonesia. He says he has trouble watching Youtube, so what I do for him is embed my playlists in webpages off-Youtube. Then I give him the page address, and the videos will play automatically once he clicks on the first one.

I presume you know how to embed playlists off Youtube? If not, try my SatStrat2(dot)htm and View Source to see how.

  • Actually I know now how to get rid of step 3. Only it means I have to create about 35 still-image, soundless videos (one for each show). The image would merely be some text about the program if you want to read that before clicking on and watching it. Since they would be small, 2 second videos you can ignore pausing the auto-play of that selected video.
