  • Can anyone else see a massive Dr. Who montage to this song?

  • God Dammit, stop with the enzyme comments please.

  • @wtg2989 enzymes?

  • Nothing like Mumford and sons. A) These guys have been around a lot longer and B) All their songs don't sound alike!

  • @1SirMachinery C'mon dude, have pride for your band, but don't trash someone else's Mumford and Sons songs do not all sound alike.

  • I always hear "all that remains is the arms of the Incas." Ancient arms....

  • The Decemberists meet R.E.M. Love this!

  • Escuchando lo mejor del 2011

  • Intime-more like Talk About the Passion....

  • Production is so nice. Cant fault this album at all.

  • Very R.E.M.esque.

  • @Everclearfan86 Agreed. In fact the first time I heard of them was on the radio where they played this right after REM

  • Gardening At Night? Anyone?

  • ugh. true democracy is on the internet. where stupid people go to get heard, and annoy the hell out of the rest of us.

  • Awesome.

  • we really need to block any and all comments for this page *sigh* -_-"

  • @DylanNes Just because you dont care if someone called you n*gger doesnt make it right for a person to refer to people as little n*ggers. By saying something like that, youre implying a prejudice towards the community associated with the word whether or not you actually feel that way towards them. Even if I had no intention to hurt, if I referred to people as little n*ggers, it sounds like I have no respect or regard towards the black community? It sounds racist regardless of if I actually am.

  • I listening the decemberists in My Place! LOL

  • I love the Decemberists and I'm one of the 5 that disliked this. Fucking Garbage, plain and simple. I wont even bother pirating this album

  • @XxUnhallowedxX Dude, calm the fuck down

  • @DylanNes "Dude" I'm perfectly calm. I love how nobody can express an opinion anymore with out someone automatically assuming the other person is mad. Just stating the facts here. Now run along, boy.

  • @DylanNes

Happening to be a LGBT supporter I am offended to read "little faggots". There are better derogatory terms to use for both of you than to resort to homophobic insults.

  • @musicalthunderstorm Happening to be a member of the Heterosexual Alliance I find this very offending. Please appologize or else.

You see how easy that is? I'm part black, but you could call me a n*igger a thousand times and I wouldn't care.

  • Dedicated to David Foster Wallace. Nice.

  • @MissTopanga lol it's "end times". But I think I like "war of the enzymes" better.

  • @OpiumSapiens You mean to tell me it's not war of the enzymes?

  • just discovered another underrated band :D oh now, i can say there are still damn good musics and musicians here on earth :D

  • Another great song from another great band.

  • Michael Stipe called from 1991, he wants his lost track from "Automatic For The People" back.

  • @Pettyproductions It's called "A Cautionary Song."

  • somebody help me!!! i cant find the song i am looking for, its about the mom who whores herself down at the marina. what is the name of this song?!!

  • @Pettyproductions might be the mariner's revenge song

  • @Pettyproductions that song hits close to home for you too huh?

  • four people should have a war of their enzymes.

  • pure REM. Michael Stipe might as well be singin

  • as always a unique sound

  • This Could be the only great folk rock of this century, its a dying genre and its truly a shame, the world could use more work like this along with songs that mirror the style of Bob Dylan.

  • @AllstarRB38

    Look up Andrew Jackson Jihad.

  • @AllstarRB38 they're aren't so much folk rock, they're more indie folk, like the shins.

  • @xXimdead3183Xx indie just means independent and has nothing to do with their sounds...but i agree, they're not exactly "folk rock"

  • @AllstarRB38 mumford and sons...?

  • @1967adayinthelife right???????

  • @AllstarRB38 Tallest Man on Earth, look him up.

  • This Could be the only great folk rock of this century, its a dying genre and its truly a shame, the world could use more work like this along with songs that mirror the style of Bob Dylan.

  • Sounds a lot like Seven Chinese Bros. from Reckoning.

  • I keep hearing "the war of the enzymes."

  • sounds like my childhood in the mountains upstate ny

  • It's not country. Alt Country in the Wilco/Sun Volt/ Uncle Tupelo vein I would say yes. Why categorize it as anything other than pretty?

  • 4 ppl dislike this because they thought it was gonna be indie rock, not country.

  • @sunsun410 its not country

  • @coughfilmsco im sorry and i respect their independence and everything, but this sounds alot like country to me

  • @sunsun410 its more indie folk than anything but i do obviously see the country influences :)

  • Great song!

  • 4 dislike...

Who the heck put them there?!?!?!? I belive that this song deserves 0 dislikes. So I am ingnoring those people. so to me. there are 0 dislikes

  • This sounds like it could have come straight off Murmur. REM with Bill Berry in happier times except that you can here what he's saying.

  • Sounds like a mix between R.E.M and Neutral Milk Hotel

  • Sounds like Wendell Gee at 78rpm

  • Great song. Heavy influence from REM's "Disturbance at The Heron House", thanks to Mr. Peter Buck. Thanks for posting the entire album. I decided to buy this CD after listening to all the tracks.

  • You and me at the War of the Enzymes!

  • @TheAbiogenic It's 'war of the end times'. lol

  • @wildmanwill22 I know, but I always hear "enzymes." :D

  • @TheAbiogenic That's what I think every time, haha.

  • 2 people don't like happy songs about everyone dying.

  • why would anybody dislike this??

  • I was listening to this last week while my friend was over, he decided to change it to some rap song. He hasn't been seen or heard from since...

  • @Mrgooberloop thank you :)

  • What is said at the very beginning of the song? It kind of sounds like "You and me in the war."

  • Comment removed

  • @coldengrey12 it says "had a dream"

  • @coldengrey12 that is what it says

  • @coldengrey12 thats, right, "you and me in the war at the end times"

  • @Pollution122 Way, way delayed response: Before the guitar starts, Colin says something. It sounds like he's yelling, "You and me in the war!"

  • 1:55 - 2:10.....McGuinn meets Buck meets Meloy...transcendence of the Rickenbacker!

  • gardening at night is all over this song,,,, as is talk about the passion..

    REM were amazing between 1980 - 1994

  • TALK ABOUT THE PASSION

Seriously, though. Peter Buck needs to come up with a new riff. I love R.E.M., but Buck's guitar work on most songs sounds like his guitar work on another song.

  • if there was an REM period that you should be influenced by then this is it.

  • I love this song so damn much, but I need to ask: is he saying "Setting the lay of Nebraska alight," or "Setting the lay of the Nazca lines?" They both make an equal amount of sense, frankly.

  • @ArgonathDW i thought it was "Nebraska line"

  • @ArgonathDW I think he is saying setting the lay as the crust collides. Colin Meloy is afraid of seismic activity.

  • @KDoggle no I listened to it again and Now I disagree

  • @KDoggle 'S "Setting the lay of Nebraska alight". The line I'd like to know about, although I now know who Hetty Green is, is "Hetty Green, queen of supply-side bonhomie bone-drab". (Clearly I don't "know what [you] mean," Colin!)

  • Colin Meloy is a God.

  • This is perfect.

  • I could listen to their fake REM songs all day. In fact, I think I might.

  • i love this song so much it hurts. A lot.

  • VERY REM!

  • I was just sifting through a bunch of new tunes to play out and just starting to loose hope...then this beauty came along !!! Wonderful ...Love this :) :)

  • Good one, feels R.E.M spirit on it! Good by its own, anyway

  • No, Colin, I don't know what you mean.

  • 2 dislikes??!????!!!!!!!!!!!11

    Nazis....

  • I heard this on NPR tonight. Very nice, indeed!

  • I like the new direction they've taken with this album.

  • AMAZINGGGGG!!!!!!!!

  • picking favorites/orders is just one thing I cannot do. every song on this album is a 10-way tie

  • i fucking love this song....i think its my favorite on the cd

  • The name of the vid is "Egyptian Energy Science"

Here are the websites It might help to just watch the first 2 vids, they give a very good intro and it will cost U about 20 minutes.I've read the Giza Destroyed, Cosmic War, Philosophers Stone, Babylons Banksters and listened to all your interviews including the Byte show series. Trust me, this little vid series will definately fill the gaps we have of HOW the ancients used their Aether Physics.

  • @logician3 Are you on drugs?

  • There isn't a song I don't like from this band!!!

  • i laughed out loud when i first heard this song, what a rip off

  • @ElimRem lol, you're right. but they had Peter Buck of REM play with them, it is pretty funny, though.

  • That song is so good, I'd buy the album if it was the only song i heard. Cuz anything THAT good, there's bound to be more lol.

  • Oh yes..I LOVE this.

  • Comment removed

  • KInd of a cross between "Talk about the passion" and "Gardening at night". They admit it's an homage to REM, and Peter Buck is on board, so it's all good. Shoot, the song is great on its own.

  • @Rauoul

    "Catapult," too.

  • @Rauoul absolutely - gardening at night is alll over this song,....

  • "This is why we Fight" and "Calamity song" are the best on this album! TOTALLY!!

  • My ears are so happy!!!!!!!! :)

  • kick ass. gets better every tme.

  • i am having the biggest OBSESSION with this song!!! I love the Decemberists(:

  • They've stolen this from REM's Talk about the Passion!

  • @KargoolElvalie Peter Buck is on guitar so I guess that explains it. He's nicked it off himself.

  • @floppyd0g

    That is awesome!

  • @KargoolElvalie first few chords of each, yes. rest, eh, though they did admit on NPR how heavy the influence is throughout all their work

  • @KargoolElvalie

I totally agree! WTF! Both songs are like sooo ogood but yeah, they totally stole it!

  • Thought I post right as of right now, The King Is Dead #1 alternative album on Itunes that is all.

  • love hazards of love...but love love love this too

  • A grand return to form after the disappointing The Hazards of Love.

  • Lol, i was listening this whilst flicking through someone elses photo album of a night out and it went really well. Could have even been a music vid :O

  • I can't listen to this song without smiling and feeling awesome..this album is such a departure from hazards of love. It's so easygoing and light. Amazing.

  • And the Andalusian tribes, setting the lay on the fresco lines till all that remains are the arms of the angels? (?) Amirite? O.o

  • Comment removed

  • "And the Andalusian tribes, setting the lay of Nebraska alight, 'til all that remains is the arms of the angels"

  • @photolitherland

Which is exactly why they asked R.E.M.'s guitarist to play on this song...

  • Are they... talking about the passion ???

  • @photolitherland It sounds like REM, in fact this album was inspired by REM's music.

  • Comment removed

  • Heaps better than their last album.

  • @photolitherland this sounds a LOT like old rem. new REM isnt that great, but old REM is. id say both are pretty great though. actually, look up talk about the passion by REM, thats what this song made me think of.

  • lol, it is Peter Buck :)

  • at first i thought they'd got a REM song on here under the wrong name XD

i mean, that guitarist plays just like peter buck, and ive never heard anyone else play quite like him before. the decemberists has a skilled guitarist methinks.

  • @13thVulture

yeah... it is peter buck. you've got quite the ear there XD

  • @Willro91 lol good, peter buck is still uniquely awesome.

  • one of their best...

  • beautiful
