  • How much cost one of these machines?

  • the only thing wrong is the grooves in its head. they traditionally have flat bottoms. they were done round here to save time, as simply one mill is needed to make just one pass this way.

  • sexy machine :p

  • why didnt you part it off instead of taking it out ,band saw, rechuck and face , would have saved lots of time

  • i come here for the music

  • after reading the comments , i went to timcallister74's channel to see how an expert does it,and what a surprise-no vid-just mouth !!!!!

  • i wanna see it do a knight :D

  • I made several chess sets out of aluminum using square bar stock. Each 48' bar was milled using the straddle mill technique. Then the bar was turned on its side to give it that particular identification, whether it was a knight or pawn. Then each piece was cut to length, sanded to break sharp corners, polished and painted on the top signifying whether it was black or white. It is very time consuming.

  • why would you dislike this -_-

  • this machine is sooo tight!!!! i wish i ran one. i run a bridgeport! im gunna talk to my boss about this one!

  • this is cool 'cause I thought rooks were molded

  • A few questions.1. Why are you using a left hand turning tool? (a 35deg. RH tool should have worked) 2. Why are you conventional cutting the i.d. with the end mill 3. Why are you running the boring bar upside down.(the chips recut with the bore bar inverted)4. Why not part off and finish with sub spindle? Not that I know anything...

  • @tmcallister74 Yet it worked ..... so all your "knowledge" is pointless.... what you use is irrelevant as long as it works in the end. i really doubt his pieces had to be to tolerance.... real machinists can make things with the what ever tools they want.(Sorry i hate "know it alls", most of them lack common sense because they are stuck on whats proper)

  • awesomee! CNC Machines rule

  • Amazingly different where can i buy one of those pieces

    it is inspiring

  • Hello, in school we were asigned to make our own project, it could be anything. So i searched youtube for CNC art and found this, i then showed the video to my friend that i was going to do the project with and he thought we shoud do our own chess board with the chess pieces deisgned in CNC. We figured out how to do all pieces except the knight.. So i was wondering if you could share some tips and tricks in regards to making the knight. Btw, nice video :)

  • @Mirnes07 For doing a knight (assuming you want a horse/rider style knight. You may want to think of turning the part out a large diameter stock, and milling the upper half after turning.

  • @Mirnes07 in my course we build the board and all the pieces... we did the knight on a milling

we used copper for the dark ones and stainless for the white

and for the board we used brass and 4140 steel (for the squares) and we build a frame with 12l14 mild steel

  • i had a aluminiun chess set wich I left in Cuba ,but was so strong that I even used to hit my opponent when I lost my games

  • Beautiful!!!! :)

  • Amazing that the second operation did not detonate.

    Where is the grip.

  • This is aluminium, I think and is very easy to do it.! If wil be stainless steel, will be more difficult...

  • Nice. I'm programmer too... but this I see very interesting...

  • Absolutely awesome video. Thank you very much for that!

  • Why didn't you just part it off rather than cut it off with the band saw rather than having to re chuck it just to face the back off...?

  • Does your company does its own video production? I really like the After Effects work.

  • It is possible that the music is either royalty-free stock or was produced by the company that did the post production.

  • I'd love to see a video of all the pieces and even the board being made. I think ceramic tile and a nice wood base and trim be very nice touch for a board along with the aluminum pieces.

  • Was the metal aluminium? The swarf wasn't as a "spring" as steel would be.

  • And that ... is how its made

  • damn.... son. I funna get me some Glacern tools

  • learned lot here

  • Is that how they made those cool hats for DEVO?

  • I think I know how this would be used as a torture device.

  • How much pressure are you applying on the soft chucks to grip the head of the piece? Since its aluminum and can easely lose its shape and grip if there is applied too much pressure on it?

  • Pfft! Give me a micrometer and a turning machine n I'll make it better >:D

  • that is the cutest boring bar i have ever seen

  • very good turning.

wat is d name of the song?

  • amazing videos thanks! thats the first lathe i have seen with a bandsaw.

i learnt a lot from your other videos. had to subscribe!

  • Hey whats the song called?

  • Oh come on Sol, Ive bought facemills and tool holders from you and their great nothing else could beat them for their price!!! But could you please share the name of the song with us??? lol.

  • Ooooooo .... Very Nice! :)

  • Very nice video. I can't wait until machines like that are 30 years old and all broken down so I can afford 'em.

  • song name plz

  • what is the advantage of back cuttng like that?

  • man.. this video is awesome.. and the music is totally chill.. who is it?

  • the best cnc vid ever

  • I taught in turning, the cutting too is stationary while the workpiece spins.? the cutting too is moving here, am so confused.

or is the movement of the cutting tool left to right seen as stationary.

I am talking of the process from 0.00-1.17

  • @controlanddelete This is a live tooling lathe. It can turn, mill, and drill whatever you want almost. Mori Seiki is my favorite machine to work on. We have 2 NL2000Y with a programable tailstock, and a few other Mori's. Built like a rock.....

  • sharp edges/corners?

  • this is my job for 6 years,,,,, i love the trill... of programing of cnc lathe,,, i miss this job,,,,

  • @TheGENIO25

u know how to use sb/c-mc machine if yes please reply me

  • this is my job for 6 years,,,,, i love the trill... of programing of cnc lathe,,, i miss this job,,,,

  • I love the blue tint cast on the workpiece, the lighting worked wonders in this video!

  • perfekt!

  • awesome machine

  • machining is an art!

thank you for this beautiful video!

  • GREAT,GREAT!!!I love CNC machines i can sit and watch them work all day long...

  • more like machine porn. thats the hottest thing ive ever seen

  • @krustikov1 yea man if they brout out stick books with this in it my misses would not see me for ages

  • can we get the g code? lol

  • Cool part, I couldn't help but notice the machines sub spindle wasn't used to grip the part and cut it off from the bar stock. Instead it was cut on a band saw and re-chucked with new jaws just to face it off.

  • This demo part was originally programmed for a similar machine with a tailstock instead of a subspindle. The program and soft jaws were migrated to the NL2500SY for video purposes only.

Due to time constraints, no modifications were made to the programs.

  • @GlacernMachineTools what was the sample material?.. if you dont mind me asking..

    and was that carbide tooling?

REALLY clean pieces. and beautiful cut on the collet ;)

  • thats a big ass chess set. i want it

  • That thing is HUGE. Unless that's a child's hand...

  • one of the best made videos in Youtube, and the machining involved is top of the Edge...Great CAD/CAM programming dude..

  • Wundervoll, diese Bildqualität, die Maschine, das ganze Video super gelungen, besser geht es garnicht!

  • im making a chess set for my high school project and i dont how to cut the notches out in the top. my lathe just spins like normal. its tool turrent doesnt have drill bits that spin it only has a cut off tool and three others for basic cutting.

  • @zab21160 Milling machine with 1/8 or bigger bit.

  • cnc .. what a great machine ,,,

  • where can i buy one of these rooks???!!!! the look so awsome but i mean truly just imagine playing chess with so pretty silvery shiny rooks!!

  • Never thought I would find a lathe this fascinating.

  • Great video! What´s the name of the song?

  • Damn thats a great VID!

  • Where can I buy a copy of the music in the chess turning vid?

  • wow

  • where can i buy one of these???

  • i sooooooooooo agreeeeee!!!!!

  • NIce! ....
