I don't even like shooters, but Half-Life 2 remans as one of my favorite games ever. The plot may not be original, but the narrative is brilliant and subtle without overexplaining. There's variety like puzzles and vehicle segments and not just endless shooting. The graphics, character animations, physics engine and attention to detail. No other shooter has been as immersive as HL2 and HL1. Bioshock came close, but the color scheme is too dark for my tastes. HL2 has such vibrant colors.

I honestly know there can be better games than Half Life saga in some aspects: Best it in story, gunplay, AI, lenght or value (ie multiplayer with prestige shit I don't care about). But no game impressed me more than Half Life, EVER.

The arrival of the Vortigaunts, the shouting from Griggs and Sheckley, the blaring sirens, the clear objective to defend Alyx, and the sudden onset of this tune - I've never felt as immersed in a game as much as I did when I played through that setpiece for the first time.
