yeah, I can make picking easier. It also gives something hard to pick with rather than a soft finger giving a different.... usually more preferable sound. You can get finger picks that you put on you fingers like thimbles.... it saves you growing/having massive nails...

Most guitarists grow out their picking hand nails and file them down so that they become a natural pick.
